A slow week, but one with a huge announcement.
Hello and a very good day to all of you awesome readers and gunpla builders out there! We are back with another edition of Let’s Talk Gunpla! In our 19th edition, we will be covering only two announcements but one of the announcement is undoubtedly one of the biggest announcements ever.
We are really getting excited to just talk about the announcements. So, let’s really get into it, shall we? We shall start with an announcement from P-Bandai JP, first we will be talking about this the….
HG 1/144 Geirail Sharf Richter & Landman Rodi Set (HGIBO)
Release Date: 2017/12
Estimated price: JPY 3,456* (MYR 129.54* / USD $30.80*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation.
Yes, we are getting another kit set from the Iron-Blooded Orphans, and this time we are getting a modified version of the Geirail (we already are calling this farmer Geirail) and the land version of the Man Rodi Mobile suit that is conveniently called Landman Rodi (damn the names of the Mobile Suits here is weird as fuck and funny too).
Both kits are based on existing kits, like for example, the Landman Rodi is a kit that was based on the HGIBO 1/144 Man Rodi kit (Release Date: Dec 2015). However, from the get-go you can already see the difference that you will find if you were to compare both kits, the first thing that you will notice is the absence of the feet thrusters and a slightly distinctive design on the leg mold for the Landman Rodi. The changes made for this kit does affect how the Landman Rodi’s look as compared to the standard Man Rodi. The Landman does look like a big fat little troll, and we do feel that the Landman may look a bit shorter, then again, we can’t really confirm it until we have both kits to compare.
As well the other changes that you may notice are the color of the Landman Rodi. We do like this color and yes it does look different than the standard Man Rodi but……it still looks like crap.
And then there is the Geirail Sharf Richter. This kit as you can see is based from the HGIBO 1/144 Geirail (Release Date: Nov 2016). There is a lot of changes made on this that you might see on the Geirail Sharf Richter version, first (and the obvious) is the color. The color on this version of the Geirail is given a light brown color as compared to the original that was given a more militaristic feel to it. We do feel that with this color given to it, does make the mobile suit look more like it was made for commercial use instead of a military use, we do feel it looks quite friendly tbh.
As well the other changes that are given here is a new shoulder armor molds and a different head mold for this version of the Geirail. It does give a much more different look and feel to the Geirail, and if it’s not because of the name we all wouldn’t have known it was a kit based on an existing one.
Though we must admit, this version does look like it was made for agricultural purposes than a military one, even with the weapons we still can’t take this one seriously. Hence that is why all of us here calls this one the Farmer Geirail.
This version ruins the awesome look of the original Geirail. What a sad thing this is.
Though we kind of shit on these kits a lot, but we have to admit that we are still weirdly drawn to them. We love the weirdness that it presents, and as well knowing how much fun we all get from building the HGIBO kits, we know we are all getting the best out our money. We feel that no matter what or how these kits looked, we still want to get them and possibly just have them in our collection. For this one we are giving it a 10/10, it’s a kit that we definitely would get in our collection.
Finally, to the biggest and the most exciting announcement of all. Let’s talk about the…
PG 1/60 GN-001 Gundam Exia (PG00)
Release Date: Winter 2017
Estimated price: TBA
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation.
YES, WE ARE GETTING A PG GUNDAM EXIA. HOLLIIEEESHHHIIIEEETTT.
We really thought after the announcement of the PG Millennium Falcon back in June, this is prolly the only PG announcement that we will be getting this year and even then, we thought that would be enough. Thankfully Bandai feels that it’s not enough that we are getting a Star Wars PG kit, they are now going to be releasing a Gunpla PG kit. Our first official PG release(not P-Bandai PG kit of course) after 2 years and this news comes just in time for the 1oth Gundam OO anniversary. What a news indeed.
Talking about the kit itself, so far, we haven’t gotten any official build or prototype promotional pictures of the kit but even from the obscure reveal picture we can deduce that for this kit will be making use of the LED unit even more than the PG Unicorn (Release Date: Dec 2014) though we would wonder if they would include the LED unit in the EXIA or are they would sell them separately? Then again, we can already kind of suspect that they might sell the LED unit separately, then again, we do have to wait until it is official.
Oh, and from the looks of it, the EXIA is not going to come with that square hips, like the one on the 00 PG. OH BLOODY THANK GOD FOR THAT.
There is not so much that we can talk about since Bandai is not releasing more information on the kit. We can’t speculate on how the overall look of the PG Exia would be but we are hoping that it would follow the RG Exia route in terms of look. A more realistic PG kit would really be something that we all would be rooting for, and if it does happen, to have the RG version turned into 1/60 scale would really sit well with most of Gundam 00 fans, well more exactly EXIA fans. Haha.
We can’t really rate this announcement yet as we do need to see more of the PG EXIA to really rate on either would buy or not. So, for now, we shall suspend the scoring for this announcement, until at least we know more of this awesome PG kit.
We can’t deny though, this really put a huge smile on our faces when we heard of this and definitely going to sell the other kidney for this one for sure.
Though we are all still waiting for the announcement for the MG dynames. Bandai, we are still waiting for you to announce more MGOO kits.
Anyways, that is all the announcements that we are covering for this edition of Let’s Talk Gunpla, what are your own thoughts of the two announcements? What are your hopes for the PG Exia, and what are you looking forward towards seeing in the PG EXIA? Honestly, we are really looking forward to seeing more of the PG EXIA and really looking forward to getting our hands on this! Do let us know what your thoughts are on this awesome announcement! We do look forward to hearing more of your thoughts and your inputs over the announcements.
Anyways, that is all for this week. We shall be back with a new unboxing post this Sunday and another Let’s Talk Gunpla next Wednesday! Do look forward to that! Until then, may all of you have an awesome week ahead and may all of you have an awesome time building kits!
