Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.27

Eh, wait, another Unicorn Gundam?

Hello and welcome back everybody to another Let’s Talk Gunpla episode! Now in our 27th edition, we are going to take a stroll into P-Bandai JP to check out and talk about of some the new announcements made by the lovely chaps.

No real big news this week, but the announcements made are still pretty juicy for some that is.

Without further ado let’s get into the announcements, shall we?

HG 1/144 RX-78AL Atlas Gundam (Gundam Thunderbolt Bandit Flower Ver.) (HGUC)

HG 1/144 RX-78AL Atlas Gundam (Gundam Thunderbolt Bandit Flower Ver.) (HGUC)

Release Date: 2018/01h

Estimated price: JPY 2,592* (MYR 98.48* / USD $23.76*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation.

This kit still looks as impressive as it looked when we first looked at it.

The first one on the list is from a kit that we have reviewed quite recently (By Hazim) and with the theatrical release of the Gundam Thunderbolt Bandit Flower movie, what a timely announcement this is. As we were going through this announcement, we can’t help to feel like its like they are trying to do something like the Unicorn Gundam Theatrical releases.

If that is the case, we do hope the box art is as awesome as the Gundam Unicorns theatrical release versions. Hopefully next on the list for the Thunderbolt kits is that they finally give us the awesome looking Acguys.

Regardless, for the promotional stills, it doesn’t seem like it has much difference with the previous Gundam Thunderbolt HG kit that was released back in March this year. Though we can see some difference in terms of color on the Mobile Suit and as well a very different color scheme on its Railgun system. As well we are not going to see Bandai fix the issues that to be had on the previous version, unless however (as Kimi and Hazim agreed on) if Bandai made An MG version of this, maybe by then all the articulation issues would be fixed. Maybe.

We just love the look of the Railgun on this version actually.

Overall though? This kit looks and feels pretty much the same. Though the color scheme on this version does look better than the original version of the Atlas, unfortunately, its not enough to make us want to get this kit. So, this is a definitely a pass for us, indeed.

HG 1/144 MS-14KG Gyan Krieger (HGUC)

HG 1/144 MS-14KG Gyan Krieger (HGUC)

Release Date: 2018/01

Estimated price: JPY 1,944* (MYR 71.50* / USD $17.30*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation.

What a sexy looking badass Gyan

The next one is an announcement is a kit that was based on a mobile suit from the highly acclaimed game Mobile Suit Gundam Gihren’s Greed series. We personally haven’t had the chance to play that game yet, but it is one that is high up there on our games-to-play list indeed.

The Gyan Krieger is so far, the second Mobile Suit that is unique from the game that is given the gunpla treatment (the other one is the RX-78 C/A), it kind of makes the game a lot more appealing for us to try out. Though we are hoping that Bandai would port it over and give this game a proper English translation. It would be really cool to be able to play an official turn-based strategy game based on the Gundam Universe, really.

We didn’t get a translated game but at least we get awesome looking kits

Coming back to the Gyan, damn, what a badass looking Gyan yet. If we were to compare the Gyan’s from the GBF series and this, we have to give the Kreiger the cake. Goddamn, this is one sexy Gyan kit. The color as well, ohhh la, la! I love the purple and black color scheme (with a hint of red of course) of this Gyan. The overall design is as well looks so much better than the original Gyan, with that combination of beam shield and the awesome beam sword. Honestly, how can you not love the look of this Gyan?

Too bad that this is releasing as a P-Bandai item. It does look better as a retail release then a P-Bandai item.

don’t look at me like that you sexy beast you.

Would we be getting this though? Most likely yes, even with the price and all, the look of the kit is enough to get us to buy this one. We just hope that building it is as good as looking at it.

Hopefully, that would be enough to justify getting this kit.

Another Unicorn Gundam? A green colored Unicorn? Whats next Bandai?

You know Bandai really loves the Unicorn Gundam series when it’s not too long ago after they last announced the EWACS Jegan, now they decided that the world needed another PG Unicorn Gundam variant. At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if they release the PG Crystallised Gundam Unicorn variant, heck I wouldn’t be surprised if Bandai announced the ball unicorn version.

Wait, ball unicorn……….that would be something…I should really purpose this to Bandai.

Anyways, coming back to the kit. So far from what we can see, there isn’t anything new (Equipment wise) with this version besides the green color Psychoframe parts (the original part for this were gold, which we weren’t very keen of) and the Katoki Hajime designed decals. Yes, you heard that right, he designed the decals for this variant to make the Banshee Norn look more badass with the Decals on it.

Oh yes a Katoki Hajime designed decals

Honestly, the Banshee Norn was never high up on that list of the kit that we wanted to get because of that gold Psychoframe look, but after looking at this we might consider.

But then again though, the price of this kit is just too steep for us to attempt that feat and not to mention the PG label there. That scary PG label…….. and looking back they should’ve just made a conversion part rather than release another PG Unicorn Gundam.

Looks Good but it should’ve just been a conversion kit instead

Overall, even though this kit does look better than its predecessors it is not enough to push us to sell our kidneys for this one and as well it is a lot hella sense to just release a conversion part rather then make a whole kit outta this one if we must be honest.

Oh well, at least it gives us a reason to get the Banshee Norn if we ever eventually want a Banshee Norn in our lives. Ha, ha.

Only get this if you don’t like the gold look, and if you want some Hajime Katoki’s designed decals

That’s all we have for you peeps this week with the 27th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. What do you guys think of the overall announcements of the kits? Does any catch your fancy? We honestly are lusting for the Gyan Kreiger to be honest, that the kit really looks like one of the kits that we are aiming to get next year. Hopefully, we manage to get this one in time. haha. Regardless, we do look forward to reading and responding to your comments and thoughts on the announcements and aswell to this post!

We will be back with more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on Wednesday and we will be back as well this Sunday hopefully, with the Review of the Unicorn Gundam! So do look forward to that!

  1. Krieger was a dumb P-Bandai, it’s literally only such due to obscurity. The kit itself is 80% original using only the frame bits and like, 4 armor pieces or something, most of it is new.
