Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.30

Finally hitting the big 3-0 edition!

Hello and welcome all of you to our 30th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! I never would have imagined that we would finally hit 30 episodes within this year! Haha, its not the end of the year yet but already we are amazed to how much of the let’s talk gunpla segment we’ve made through 2017 alone! Thanks guys for your support!

Coming back to the actual matters at hand, last week we got a pretty huge retail HG announcements last week, understandably we would expect to have a normal volume of release announcements from the P-Bandai chaps and they were being pretty modest with the announcements this time around with only 3 kits announced for the first half of 2018.

But when we said modest, we are being quite modest ourselves because at least for one of the announcements it was a real wtf moment for all of us here. Well, at least it made us look forward to what P-Bandai has more in store for us all here and what a year to look forward to indeed.

So, let’s talk about the announcements, shall we?

The kits that you will get for this set.

Oh yes, finally we get an official release date for the Arianrhod Fleet set that has been teased to us all at the 57th All Japan Exhibition back in September this year. Now we can really look forward to finally being able to re-create that heart-breaking scene again with these. Not to mention that they included with this set the MS of the one most hated character in all Gundam series.

The Iok Kujan’s Graze. How we do not want that one.

1000120521_7
The Iok Kujan’s Graze, the one character from IBO that everyone collectively hates

As how it’s with the Tekkadan Set, the Gjallarhorn Arianrhod Fleet set comes with only 4 hg 1/144 kits. The kits that are included with the set is; two HG 1/144 Graze equipped with the ‘Dainsleif’ railgun system, one HG 1/144 Reginlaze Julia (With a different weapon set than the original) and as mentioned before one HG 1/144 Iok Kujan’s Graze. Though you do get the same number of kit in the Arianrhod Fleet set, in terms of price this is slightly cheaper. The Tekkadan set is retailed at 6,696 yen (MYR 240.96 / USD $59.06) whilst the Arianrhod Fleet set is retailed at 6,480 yen (MYR 233.19 / USD $57.15), yes though it is not that big in terms of price, it is cheaper nonetheless.

The kits as well looked quite awesome, with the Reginlaze having the final arc weapons equipped, the Graze’s having the awesome looking Dainsleif railguns and the Iok Kujan’s Graze…..well looking well off to his final satisfying death. Looking at all of them we have to say that the line-up for the Arianrhod Fleet is quite impressive, in terms of equipment’s and in terms of what you will be getting. Though impressive most of them looked pretty standard, but it’s not a bad thing because honestly, the IBO kits have always been a blast to build, and the ones listed here we all have experience building em, well except for the Reginlaze of course but still damn, who wouldn’t want that glorious thing sitting at their glass cupboard.

1000120521_9
the Reginlaze Julia is an epic MS indeed.

1000120521_10
and god that victory pose is epic,

Though what we really do find annoying is that we thought the set would come with 5 of the Dainsleif equipped Graze’s and thanks to all the promotion that was made for this set we really were led to believe that it would come with all 5 of these. To finally get the final details and to finally know that the set comes only with two Dainsleif equipped Graze’s makes the announcement of the Arianrhod Fleet quite disappointing. Then again, I can understand why P-Bandai opts to do it like this, because of the insane price this would go for, but I rather have Bandai put them out on a different set then to just have them put one and not have them really complete. That would really be made more sense to us than this.

Regardless of that minor set up, we would still get this one and I don’t think this is one that IBO fans would want to miss.

It makes us sad to know that we need to buy more of this set to be able to have them line up like this. we’d rather not have the Iok’s Graze here and have more of this instead.

Dang, this makes it look like a suit for the Crossbone Vanguard. hmm, maybe we should make a Crossbone Vanguard Exia…

Ah the Exia Repair parts, as well revealed in all Japan Exhibition back in September this year. To finally get the release date for this is something that the PG Exia owners can be really happy about. Though we do have to say that when we first saw this, it kind of brings us back to a time where we saw the MG Exia repair for the first time, included in the MG Exia Ignition mode set where the Repair is included as option parts for the MG Exia.

Looking at this really makes us want to get the MG Exia Ignition set, haha.

1000120750_4
The broken blade in the PG form looks brilliant, GOD YOU CAN’T IMAGINE HOW MUCH I WANT THIS NOW.

We are glad to see that Bandai opt to release this as option parts instead of releasing a whole PG kit or just some part change and to top it off, the repair parts for the PG Exia looks pretty awesome as well. The broken blade and the head part is the ones that in our opinion made this looks version looks oh so awesome.

Plus, with the parts made to incorporate the PG Exia’s brilliant lighting system made the repair look a lot more menacing than its normal look. Don’t believe us? Just look at this awesome promotional material that Bandai made that wasn’t made by us. Enjoy.

1000120750_8
Whomever in Bandai that had the thought of taking this picture should get a raise, this is an awesome picture of the Exia Repair.

Yes, looking at that picture alone is enough to make this worth getting. We feel that this is a definite must get for the PG Exia owners and one that we feel would be essential to all that bought the PG Exia.

Speaking of getting the PG Exia, we are still waiting for someone to come to make an offer for our organs.

Oh, my what massive swords you have there.

Yes, let us finally talk about the Gundam Astray Turn Red…. Wait, fucking what? Seriously what the hell is that name, turn red? Why? Why you can’t just call yourself Gundam astray redder frame or astray double big ass sword? Why the hell you call yourself turn red? Do you turn redder when the full moon comes out? God damn, what a ridiculous name.

Aaaaannnyyways, although this kit does come with a ridiculous name, it is in no way a bad looking kit. In fact, this is to us is by far the best looking Astray variants to date. Just take a peek on it here;

1000120577_5
Yes, you may have a silly name but god damn you are one good looking bastard.

There is a lot to love about the turn red, first, let’s talk about the look and what a looker this is. Yes, they didn’t do anything new to the astray frame aside from the new redder color, but they did add new parts for the backpack system for it to be able to house the 2 big ass swords systems as well some sick fins for the head. With that change, they managed to turn the astray look a lot more menacing than the Red Frame and more bad ass.

Also, the equipment here is as well quite impressive, the turn red comes with the impressive tactical arms weapon system, but it doesn’t come with just one of it, it comes with 2 of this beast of a weapon system! On top of that, it as well comes with the standard Gundam Astray frame weaponry a shield, beam rifle, and 2 ‘Armor Schneider” combat knives. How is that not impressive?

1000120577_9
The changes made for the Turn Red and the types of types of equipment that the Turn Red gets.

We are so in love with this Astray, but yes this is a kit that would be really too heavy for its own good. Even with one of the sword, the blue frame already has so much trouble standing up without support, and the Turn Red has two of this things, honestly, we think the Turn Red is really going to be a bitch to pose if you don’t get a stand for it. Especially when you need to do action poses with this…….even in the promo pictures that we seen here, they needed a stand for the sword for it to be able to make an action pose. Ridiculous.

This is one of the most ridiculous kits we have laid our eyes on this year and at the same time one of the best looking ones we’ve seen. You bet your asses that we are getting this kit! Now we have an P-Bandai MG that we are looking forward to getting in 2018. This is indeed going to be a good start to 2018!

1000120577_6
When your weapon is too heavy that you needed a stand to be able to pose with it.

That’s all we have for you peeps this week with the 30th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. What do you guys think of the overall announcements of the kits? Does any catch your fancy? The biggest news for all of us here is definitely the Turn Red (goddamn that name), it’s a ridiculous looking kit (and name too) but one that looks menacing and handsome at the same time! Oh, how we can’t wait to get this one next year! Do let us know of your thoughts for all the kits listed here! As ever we do look forward to reading and responding to your comments and thoughts on the announcements and as well to this post!

We will be back with more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the next coming Wednesday and we will be back as well this Sunday with a new Unboxing! What kit that we will be picking up this time to unbox and do first impressions of? Do stay tuned next week to know more! 😀

  1. Turn Red is actually retail in the west, so there’s that. Honestly I wasn’t too sold on it until it was announced retail, and my interest increased afterwards.

PG Exia Repair Parts are very cool, I may pick them up one day, but not today.

    1. Yeah, technically it is announced as retail but not exactly retail. Haha, it is still P-Bandai with an open international release. I guess due to its high demand from the P-O’s maybe that why they decided to do as such.

I know a lot of my friends and collegues that preordered the Turn red haha.
