Hello and welcome to our 34^th edition of let’s Talk Gunpla! We are back again once again with more Gunpla news! We have more retail release news this week, but what sets this week apart from all the other MG retail announcements is that we finally have news (and some sweet pictures) of the upcoming biggest MG release yet. Yes, within 23 years Bandai have created and made exactly 200 MG (not including the P-Bandai kits of course) kits to this day. It’s amazing to know how far we have come from the first MG kit to the current MG kits.

So to commemorate the occasion, Bandai decided to give us something really epic for the upcoming MG kit, But before we get to that…….

Let’s first talk about an MG kit that we really didn’t expect and as well to see it getting a Ver.K.A treatment. That kit is the….

MG 1/100 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee Ver.K.A (MG)

Release Date: 2018/03

Yes, this was announced at the same time they announced the hg 1/144 Mrs.Loheng-Rinko (HGBF) but we brushed this kit aside because at the time we thought this was a glitch and the kit that we are seeing is actually the RG kit. We only realize the error of our ways when we came back to this again after the 33rd episode was out and realize there is the label “Ver.K.A”. By then it is too late to redo the post already…ha..ha.

Regardless of that mistake that we made it does make us wonder, why now?

The main reason for our concern is that because we already had an MG Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee (Released in March 2012), that is not including its many P-Bandai derivatives as well. So really releasing this now is actually loses its overall wow factor. Not to mention as well the upcoming RG Unicorn Gundam 02 coming in this year Feb. This has alot stacking against it (not to mentioned it pits against the next one on the list too).

Though even with all that said and when we started looking at this kit more closely, we finally start to see the subtle changes that they made to the MG Unicorn gundam 02 Banshee Ver.K.A and the previous retail release to make the case for the existence of this kit. Let’s start with the most obvious changes that made here, the weapons. The Ver.K.A Banshee doesn’t get the Retail release treatment whereas the retail Banshee was given the same loadout as the anime versions and while the Ver.K.A gets the same weapons system as the normal Unicorn Gundam gets. Though It kinda loses some of its originality that sets it apart from the Banshee Norn, that doesn’t make the Ver.K.A looked bad. I know a lot of people that were turned off by the previous MG Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee because of the weapons it had. I do think with these weapons set, it would pull in those that wanted a more conservative looking Banshee.

Another change that was made to set them apart is the change that is made on the look of the body section, more specifically the neck region. Yes,  as some have observed there is no more of that ugly yellow thing at the neck area. Though it did took us a while to actually realize the change that they made there. Don’t believe us? Just look at these.

 

You see what I mean? Very subtle.

As well it seems that the horns and the face plate area is getting some metallic love and not to mention that this unicorn is getting Katoki Hajime designed decals! Honestly speaking even though overall there aren’t many improvements to be made on the Banshee Ver.K.A, the improvements that were made does improve the look of the Banshee a bit.

Even with all of that case, we find to justify its existence, we can’t still brain the reason for this to exist. Not when ……

MG 1/100 MSA-0011[Bst] S Gundam Booster Unit Type Plan 303E “Deep Striker” (MG)

When we heard the news of Bandai releasing an MG kit from the Gundam Sentinel series to commemorate their achievement of creating 200 MG kits, we all here thought the kit in question would be the FAZZ, since we already had the excellent MG ZZ Gundam Ver.K.A out on the wild. but to instead see this made, made us glad that it wasn’t the FAZZ. Honestly, who would’ve thought that Bandai would really turn this beast into an MG first and here we thought The previous MG MSA-0011 [EXT] EX-S Gundam was insane enough, I guess its good to see some insanity still in Bandai.

Looking at this, made all of us unable to find the right words to express our feelings for it. How could we? Besides being the new KING of the most expensive retail MG kit to date (it manages to completely beat the living shit out of THE O MG off its title) it as well manages to be one that looks pretty fucking awesome. Not to mention the weapons that are included, and its sheer size. God, this one kit that would take our whole room space if we ever decide to get this one.

Even with that said, this is definitely one that we wouldn’t mind it taking up all the space. Why wouldn’t we? As a gunpla builder and as a collector, this is one that we feel would be something that you’d be proud to have and with the glorious stand included this is one that you wouldn’t want it to be placed on the floor.

Even though it is still sometime before this would be out, this kit is already one that we wish to see more of and one that we hope to be able to get our hands on this by this year….hopefully…

Well, we’d better start saving up then.
