Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.38

Oh, why don’t you just look at all of these awesome 1/144 announcements!

Hello and a very good day to all of you here! We are back with our 38th volume of Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment! This week we are getting a HUGE retail 1/144 announcements with the line of kits from the HG and RG being announced simultaneously. The best bit of the announcements here is that they include the kits that we talked about last week (Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.37), finally we have more details for some of the kits! 😀

To be able to see more and to be able to talk about them in a more detailed manner then we did last week really excite us. Not to mention the awesome look all of them had, God damn this really is one of the very best retail announcements that we’ve covered since we started this blog.

So, without further ado, let’s get into it shall we? 😀

Halt, teh awesum is coming.

Yes, let’s talk about a kit that is the cheapest and one that has been the most interesting announcements out of all; the Leo.

We really don’t know where to start with this kit. The reason for this is that this would mark the second numbered HG kit that gets the Gunpla Evolution project tag (the previous kit that getting this is the HGUC Zeta Gundam 2017). Why is this important you may ask? Namely because for the kits that get the Gunpla Evolution tag have been kits that have been getting a lot of new things implemented and not to mention the kits have been really awesome as well to make.

10516440b4
It really does seem like this is looking pretty awesome overall.

So, when we saw that this aswell gets the same treatment as the excellent RG Unicorn (the only Gunpla that we’ve made that got that treatment) you bet your asses that we are super psyched hearing that. Though we can’t say for sure that if this is going to be good, but with our previous experiences with the Unicorn, We felt that this would definitely be at least decent.

As well kit itself looks really good, promising as well if we have to say. By the looks of it, it does look like they are doing a really good job with it, and we like the fact that bandai its not shy in making the seam lines for this HG kit quite obvious at least we know what to expect when this kit hit our shores in this coming may. Plus the seam lines on this kit doesn’t seem to annoy us that much and it does look quite sensible, well at least from what we can see here.

Although the very best part of this kit is really the price. It has really been awhile since we get mainline HG kits that are priced this cheaply. Not to say that we haven’t been getting cheap HG kits (we did get the HGIBO Barbatos sold quite cheaply last time, and not to mention the HG petit guy series) but for a mainline numbered HG kits we have not been getting kits priced like this for quite some time. I hope the price won’t affect the quality of the kit, and I really do wonder how did they decide to price the kit as such though.

/with the price being so cheap, I won’t be surprised if people would be hoarding this kit.

Regardless it is always good to finally have more grunt units being announced for the Numbered HG lines hopefully we would see more grunt units getting the spotlight from Bandai this year!

*hint*hint* Give us F91 grunt units, please

The Sexiest Gundam alive

Oh Gods, when we saw this announced we were captivated by how sexy this one looked.

That sexy black yellow and red color scheme.

Those red striped decals

Just take a moment and first look at this.

10516389a4
Isn’t that a glorious thing this?

How can we not be attracted to this sexy beast? One would be insane to pass this one up. Though looking back at the color scheme, it really does reminds us of the very sexy Local Type Gundam [North American Variant] as well another sexy black Gundam from the Gundam The Origins MSD line and really what with the Origins MSD line? All of the designs of the MS’s have been the sexiest we have been a witness to and this is as well comes into that line of sexy MSD kits.

The kit itself looked almost like the standard RX-78-02 Gundam but with a few exceptions in terms of the leg shoulder armor and some parts of the arm and leg units. We really feel that the best thing about this kit is really is the equipment’s you get. This kit comes equipped with a small Gatling arm gun and that awesome folding shield.

the Arm Vulcan gun
10516389a6
the very lovely looking folding shield, it doesn’t come with a lot of types of equipment but the ones that it has looks fucking awesome

We really adore the look of the Gundam FSD, this is one that we are really looking forward to its eventual release and with how the origins kit has been we won’t be surprised to see the RX-78-02 looking like a real badass in the HG form.

What a comfortable pose this is.

Ahh, yes, the HG 1/144 RX-78 [G] Gundam Ground Type Ver.2.0. With the success of the Blue Destiny Ver.2.0 series we really expected this kit to be announced eventually and lo behold they did! Finally!

The HGUC Gundam Ground type Ver.1.0 really was a kit that we felt aged really badly and is one that really needed revamping out of all the HG kits that we’ve seen. With what we can see with the 2.0 promotional pictures, yes, they really manage to improve in terms of the look of the kit and the gimmicks. With the ver.2.0 Gundam Ground Type being able to move its shoulder part even further then what is able to do before and as well the improvements made on the joints on the leg unit. We feel that the improvement made would be able to enable the kit to pose in its crouching position more comfortably and in a more stable position as well. Something that for the ver.1.0 that has been quite of a struggle to do.

10516392a3
Ahh, that classic pose.

As well not to mention bandai managed to give this kit a more detailed and fiercer look as compared to its predecessor, we really like how the Ver.1.0 looked, it was a pretty handsome kit but the ver.2.0 though? That is something of another level man, Bandai managed to cram more details on this kit then the 1.0 ever did and really what a feat Bandai managed with the Ver.2.0, this is definitely a kit we are looking forward in getting this coming April.

Alas, we are hoping to see more of it soon and possibly getting it on release day.

Am coming to take your heart away……

Finally, we get to the last piece of the retail announcement, and it is one announcement that we’ve been looking forward to discussing further here. Actually, we have been thinking a lot about this one since we saw the rough details of it last week and honestly, we didn’t expect this to be announced this month, Bandai really surprise us this time with having this announced for April release! We really kind of expecting this to be announced somewhere in March for July release but we are glad that we are getting this one earlier than expected!

Really this is one of the most handsome RG kits we’ve seen so far. The details and the gimmicks that come with this kit is really impressive. We like how the kind of poses that these kits are able to pull off, though admittedly the poses that involve the dober gun can be quite limiting due to its sheer size and due to the fact that the weapon is attached to the shoulder armor. Regardless we don’t feel like this is a big issue since it does make sense in terms of continuity of the universe.

10516419b4
Just look at that awesome Backpack man….

Though we are worried about the top half being too heavy that it spoils the balance of the kit. Though from what we’ve seen heard with the MG variant being somewhat stable even with all its equipment mounted on it but we are not convinced that the RG variant would be more stable than its MG counterparts. Then again we do have to wait until this comes and we can do a proper review of this beast.

That is definitely something that we all here look forward to!

10516419b7
Not to mention the Dober gun looks awesome in its RG form.

  1. I on the contrary think the HGUC Ground Type was an awesome kit and holds up very well, what with it’s great accessory use, poseability, and superior gimmicks, the thing was awesome.

Still, I’m very excited for all of these kits, especially Leo.

    1. Yup all the kits announced were pretty to look at and exciting too! I for one are pretty excited with the RG Tallgeese!

Though with the HGUC Ground Type ver.2.0 is something that I really looking forward to see more of since I do want to properly do a comparison in between the two.

  2. I just wonder when the Hg woundwort and galbaldy will be officially announced, psyched for those too!

The balance of the RG Geese will probably be better than the mg, smaller kit and what seems to be more emphasis on the moving parts rather than layers of armor and frame. The rg Wing EW was superbly balanced and the wings on that boi are huge.

    1. Hmm, that is true, I suppose that could be the case when we get the kit and knowing that it really makes me quite excited to see more of the kit soon! 😀

oh yes, the HG Wonderwort and the Galbaldy, both that still haven’t been getting any announcement date yet….I really hope Bandai doesn’t have any second thoughts for that kit.
