Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.40

Gundam Build Fighters invasion

Hello, and welcome back! We are back once again with our 40th volume of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! This week we are going to finally talk about the MASSIVE retail announcements made by Bandai in conjunction with the release of the upcoming Gundam Build Diver anime, but they didn’t just stop at the kit announcements they as well followed it up with an action-filled Gundam Build Diver Prologue episode! When we watched the episode, we are quite surprised at the amount of action and story this anime has and we the more we watch this episode the more we can see that they are taking the ‘MMO’ trope for this series.

Honestly, we are interested to know where they are taking this anime this time around, and we wonder if would get cameos from the previous Gundam Builder series characters. I guess we would have to wait for the actual anime to know more but honestly, we won’t be surprised if there is.

Anyways, I realize that we are getting too excited on the anime side here, ha-ha. So, lets us get back to the retail announcements, shall we?

Look at that cute SOB walking around and such

Let’s first talk about one of the cutest kits in the retail announcement, shall we? Out of all the kits that were announced, this really caught our eye, because if we remember with the previous series we kept getting millions of variants of different versions of the HG BEARGGUY’s and Bandai was so driven (obsessed maybe the better word in this case) in burying all of us with them until to a point we even get the somewhat pointless petit’guy kits.

However, the same cannot be said the same for the this. Unlike its predecessors, the momokapool does look quite menacing in its cuteness. As well unlike the Beargguy this looks like it is given a more of a starring role and looking at how explosive the prologue was, we are interested to know more of its combat abilities. We are interested in knowing more about what it could do here.

It’ll be funny if this turns out to be the most powerful MS in the anime.

The kit itself has some similarities with the Beargguy, where they are both based from existing kit that is based from an amphibious MS, and yes it does look like a cute penguin wearing a blue suit, but the best part of this kit I think is that cute cibii-kapool….. goddamn that shit is cute yo.

It is honestly refreshing to actually see a new cute MS instead of another Beargguy variant, and honestly, this is an even cuter son of a bitch then the Beargguy. We really commend Bandai’s inventiveness (or sunrise’s) in making another cute MS for the masses. We are really looking forward to more Cibi-kapool’s variant to flood the market, so we can all drown in the cuteness of it all.

Psst, hey kid, wanna buy some Gunpla?

Better start strapping yourself up, boys! It’s going to be a hard one this.

A look that one would want to be killed with

Oh yes, the star of the recently released Prologue episode, the Gundam AGE II Magnum. This MS really stole the show in the anime, its fight scenes were one of the bests we’ve have seen in any Gundam related anime (not THE VERY BEST but you get what we mean) not to mention that they’d finally give the AGE II a better starring role in a Gundam Build series and man what an MS this is.

From what we are seeing from the initial showing in the promotional stills here, Bandai did translate the awesomeness of the AGE II well in the HG form. The poses, the transformation, and even the weapons look Hella fine in this form. As well the redesigned look of the Gundam AGE II Magnum makes the original and even the Dark hound version of the original looks less impressive.

This is by far the best looking transformable form in the Gundam series.

But what really gets us here is really when we look at the transformation of the flight mode. Unlike the original, it looked good in MS mode but horrible in its flight form. With the Magnum, however, it’s the other way around.

It looks hella brilliant. This is probably one of best redesign kits we have seen in the Gundam build series, but the best part of this series is in our humble opinion…..

This is probably one of the very best poses that we’ve seen so far.

Not the only one that looks good. Especially, if we start talking about the next one…..

HG 1/144 Grimoire Red Beret (HGBD)

HG 1/144 Grimoire Red Beret (HGBD)

Release Date: 2018/04

Estimated price: JPY 1,530* (MYR RM55.54* / USD $14.08*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We honestly love the design of the Beam Machine gun, in some ways, this does remind us a bit of the scopedog though

Yes, let’s get talking about the Grimoire Red Beret, shall we?

Unlike the love we had for the original AGE II the same cannot be said for the original Grimoire, as well unlike the AGE II which starred in an anime that we loved, the Grimoire starred in an anime that we loathed.

Not to mention, the original Grimoire does have a look that a mother would love if she is blind. This version however really takes the design and turns it into something that I am quite impressed with. Though from the outset it doesn’t really seem like they did anything major with the original design besides the awesome green and red color scheme. But they managed to cram the changes in, in a way that made us look twice to find all the changes that were made for this kit.

This thing looks insane though

Like the changes that were made in the leg section with adding in some hidden claws and some tires on the Grimore’s leg. The best changes that were made for this it must be from the types of equipment that they included for the Grimoire Red Beret. The beam rifle is a work of art by itself, but what really got us in the backpack and its inhabitants.

The small little Grimoire’s head drones.

Really the best that came with the Grimoire

Oh yes, those things are amazing and to see them come in a pair and as well in different colors really got us hyping for this kit. Definitely, one to watch this.

Oh, it doesn’t end there…..

A cute but deadly head indeed this

HG 1/144 Gundam 00 Diver (HGBF)

HG 1/144 Gundam 00 Diver (HGBF)

Release Date: 2018/04

Estimated price: JPY 850* (MYR RM31.08* / USD $7.90*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Probabbly one of the best redesings of the best looking Gundams out there

Finally, we get to talk about this one, honestly, there is really a lot to talk about for this one, like for instance the price for this. For 850 yen this is 50 yen cheaper than the original and though it might not seem like a significant price change to most of you out there. Although it is not the first cheapest HG kits out there, it is, however, one of the first cheapest full kit from the Gundam Build series.

Even though this is a cheap kit but it is in no way a bad looking kit. I just don’t understand how Bandai manage this because the original Gundam 00 is a thing of beauty and I thought then, how can they improve on something that already looks so beautiful?

Then this happens.

When something that looks better then the original comes along to say ‘hey look at me!’

When we look at this we thought to ourselves the only thing that this has in common with the original 00 Gundam is really the name and the leg section….and the weapons. Honestly, if for not for those things we might not be able to tell that this is based on the 00 Gundam. The redesign does look hella better then the original and heck we are all taken by how awesome this one looks.

Though, when we made a closer look into this, it does start to look more like the original kit that it was based from, though we can see from the promotional pictures that they improved many of the limitations and drawbacks of the original.

Do you want me?

Well at least from the pictures anyways.

Regardless, we are looking forward to seeing more of this kit in April and hope to get a taste of how it would be then.

here come have some

  1. Ah HGBD is showing so many awesome and unique designs right off the bat and I dig a majority of them. I especially love the 00 Diver, Momocapule, and the Grimoire Red Beret, which is funny because I don’t like the base Grimoire. The new gimmicks and accessories it has wins it for me, and I’m so hype for this series and these kits.
