Hello and welcome back guys! Kimi here and I’m back finally with the review for the MG Sazabi Ver.K.A! Sorry for the late post but this has been one heck of a project this, never I’d imagine it would take as long as it did and as well never I’d imagine it is one that is the most challenging and as well it managed to be one of the very best kits I’ve made this year.

Yes, I’ve said it, this is one of the very best kits I’ve made this year, heck I would even say that its the very best I’ve made period. It is as well managed to be a kit that I have fallen so head over heels for.

Really is it a surprise? You can stop reading this if you just want to know if this kit is worth spending money on, really it is. You should stop doing whatever you are doing now and just get this kit now, but if you do want to read my honest thoughts on this kit before you make that final decision you can stay on to read further if you want and let me convince you further.

But before we do…let’s first, do something that I’ve haven’t been doing for a bit.

Giving you guys here some history lesson.

History / lore of the MSN-04 Sazabi

Model name                      : MSN-04

Classification                     : Prototype Newtype-use Assault Mobile Suit

Weapon systems             : Beam Sabers, Funnels, Scattering Mega Particle Cannon, Beam Shot Rifle, Long beam rifle, Shield and Beam Tomahawk.

The Sazabi was conceived because of a request made by Char Aznable to have a Mobile Suit that is capable to make full use of his piloting skills and Newtype powers. The request was made in preparation for a second Neo-Zeon war and the request for such massive project was passed down to luna based contractor Anaheim Electronics (as well is the same Contractor that helped developed and produce the Nu-Gundam Accidently) and what they manage to create from that request is a legendary MS that was instrumental in the Second Neo-Zeon War.

It was one that people associate most when talking or discussing the second Neo-Zeon Movement/war. Really, this MS really played a key role there.

Though there is a misconception that is floating around in saying that the Sazabi is an inferior MS as compared to its Rival; the Nu-Gundam. In my humble opinion that I feel the Sazabi is in many ways an equal to the Nu-Gundam and in between the two, I would even say that the Sazabi was a better, as well a more compete MS then the Nu-Gundam.

This is because the Sazabi wasn’t an MS that was rushed to completion out into battle. Anaheim really took their sweet time to make sure the Sazabi was able to outmaneuver and outgun all the current MS’s of the time. Not to mention here as well the Sazabi was given a lot of state of the art weapons system and sensors to give it a massive advantage over its opponents but what really sets this MS apart from the others is really is the Psycommu system. This system is a much more stable platform as compared to the unstable system that was installed in the Nu-Gundam, due to that Char could make full use of the funnels and was able to effectively use it in battle.

As well it is a wrong to assume that because of its size this MS would be so much slower than the Nu-Gundam because for its sheer size it is surprising that the Sazabi managed to maneuver itself better than its smaller counterparts.

The Sazabi is really one of the most impressive MS’s for its day and one that fits well into the legend and lore of the great Char Aznable.

With that ends the History lesson, and now let us get into the review, shall we?

The Review.

I always have my eyes set on the MG Sazabi Ver.K.A. For many years I avoid getting it, some of it due to its insane price but the real reason why I avoid getting this, its because that I am afraid that the Sazabi wouldn’t be able to match or live up to my expectations. I was really afraid of being disappointed by it that even when I did finally get (gifted actually) this kit in the home base, I was still quite hesitant to start building the but now when I got to building it, I can honestly say now……

That I wished that I started on this kit so much earlier.

Honestly, with the most kits I’ve built I admit there were a few times in the process of the review/building I had to force myself to slog through the kit to get it done and over with, but not with this. This I feel made me feel that I was more willing to come back to it, no, to be more precise I was drawn to it, obsessed with building it and it is one kit that stopped me from rushing things through, it made me want to savor each and every moment I spent with it.

Why you may ask? because really building this kit feels so damn good.

Almost every part fits well and everything feels solid, unlike the previous MG’s that I’ve built recently (both the P-Bandai’s GM II and the Retail’s GM sniper) whereas they do have some loose annoying parts but you don’t find the same issue with the MG Sazabi Ver.K.A. Though I do feel this is true with most Ver.K.A MG kits (where they are mostly made to be really quite solid), but with the Sazabi Ver.K.A it just felt better I would even go as far to say it more solid (and sso much more stable too) than the ZZ Gundam Ver.K.A that I build a few months back. The only issue to be had when building this is really that for the first time, some of the completed parts might be quite stiff you do need to do some breaking in before you start posing though, if not you would have one hella time to get everything posed as you want it to be.

Regardless, everything just works as intended and as well I found that the Sazabi also able to complete its transformation look well with no issues (or with anything falling off the kit) what so ever. Not to mention most of the outer frame and some of the inner frames is gated well enough so you won’t encounter so much nub issues here with this kit. Though the same cannot be said about the nubs on the weapons though, as you will encounter some annoying nubs here and there. However, it must be said that no matter how annoying it might be, the issues encountered here is not as bad as some issues I faced before with some of the MG kits weapons (Yes I’m referring to all variants of the MG Zaku II Ver.2.0 variants I that I’ve made and reviewed for this blog).

So, you can say overall the build and the quality is pretty solid in some areas with this kit, however, it is not all good, unfortunately, as I do encounter some issues with some sections of the instructions in the manual. If you are working on this kit currently, a word of caution from me, during the middle section of this you will find as you were building this, that the manual and the instructions here can be quite confusing and hard to understand. I, however, do not mean in the language section of this manual, mind you, what I meant is in the visual instructions. The visuals shown on the instruction manual in some sections were a bit confusing and there was an occasion whereas I found the manual failed to inform you that on a particular section it needed two of the same parts.

Only after I was on the verge completing that section I realized that they needed another section done for this. So, you can imagine how frustrated I was having to go through all the process again. Though it really didn’t take away the enjoyment I get from building this.

Oh, another word of caution, this is by no means a kit that you should ever rush, force nor take it easy. Because one mistake done here will cost you, and this is one kit where it would punish you if you underestimate it. There are a few occasions building this I found myself fucking up bad, but at least in my case, I do have proper types of cement and ‘patching’ kits to help fix the issue. Though I do shudder to think of those that are not as fortunate as I am, fucking up on this kit.

So, do be cautious when building this kit.

Towards the end though, you would find that the end result is worth every penny spent. The MG Sazabi Ver.K.A is really one of the best looking and the most impressive kits that I have ever owned and laid my eyes on. I love all the different shades of red that you get here, and how all awesome moveable parts works here. Transforming the Sazabi does make it look so much more menacing than its normal look, though I can’t imagine how much more awesome this would look with all its decals attached to it. I am sad however that bandai didn’t include the awesome treble clef decal for this kit, it does make the kit less sazabi-ish with that not included with the kit.

The look for all its weapons is as well hella excellent, though most of the weapons is simple in terms of its basic construction but all of them looked pretty sweet as hell when you had it equipped. Really the best part of all the weapons for this Variant of the MG Sazabi really is the Long Rifle. Though the long rifle looked quite close to the Sinanju’s beam Rifle, it is by far the better looking in between the two and also if you do own the MG Sinanju Ver.K.A you will find that you would be able to combine some of the weapon parts of the Sinanju to Sazabi’s Long Rifle. In turn, making look, more awesome then even the Sazabi’s original Beam Shot Rifle.

Also, this MG Sazabi Ver.K.A is probably one of the biggest MG kit I have ever made and owned in my life. It even managed to make my ZZ Gundam Ver.K.A (one of the biggest MG Gundams that I owned) look pretty small in comparison, but unlike the ZZ Gundam, eventhough it is quite heavy, the Sazabi is really quite a stable kit, this is in lieu thanks to its large feet units. Making this, a kit that really doesn’t need a stand to pose.

Though due to its size the Sazabi is honestly quite heavy, I don’t think with the existing stands, that they are able to sustain the Sazabi’s weight in long periods of time. This is really one kit that I do fear for when having it posing on a stand. Again, not so much an issue when the kit itself can plant itself well on the ground, so what ever you guys do, please keep this planted on a solid ground instead.

Really, there is just so much to love here. The Fun I had while building this, it does made me wonder why do I worry so much before because really towards the end I do find myself really slowly falling in love with this kit as built this kit slowly in this past few weeks and now finding myself feeling empty as I stare at its completed state. Never in my whole lifetime building MG kits I came across a kit that made me feel sad that it is done, sad to know that even if I get another MG Sazabi I will never be able to feel the same feeling as I did with this.

That is how brilliant this kit really is, building this felt like reading a good book or like playing a good game with a good story. With each and every part it made you feel like you are taken into a journey, a journey that when you finally reach the end it concludes with a very satisfying end. One that I wished would never end.

Really this is one kit that everyone should get and really is a kit that every builder young and old should really experience at least once because really this is by far the best MG kit I’ve built to date. There is really nothing that I’ve made that have come close to how awesome this is, and really is one that is perfect not just by its design but also by the way it made me feel.

To that person that gifted this, thank you. I loved every moment I spend with this kit and really this is one of the best gifts I have ever owned, period. Thank you for giving me this experience and I will really forever treasure this kit, this….

With that ends my review for the MG 1/100 MSN-04 Sazabi Ver.K.A. What do you guys think of this kit? I really feel this really earns its title of the god of all MG kits, really a kit that really made my year really. With the recent release of the Deep Striker, I wonder if that would finally take the Sazabi’s crown and aswell I wonder if the O is as good (or better) then the this. I really hope I could one day find that out, but for now this kit really took the top spot in this blog for being one of the very best kits I have ever built.

Anyways, will be back again this week more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the coming Wednesday and we will be back as well this Sunday with hopefully the Review for the Hyper Gyanko. This week is going to be a more relaxed week as I am finally coming back to building some HG kits, it really is been awhile since I did.
