Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.45

A very surprising week this turning out to be

Hello and welcome guys to our 45th edition of the let’s talk Gunpla, and today we will delve back into the dark depths of the cursed labyrinths of P-Bandai to continue talking about some of the more recent P-Bandai announcements and this time they have some really surprising news (though a bit last minute this time).

but unlike last week, they have a lot of kits that we are quite excited for this time.

So, without further ado, let us get into it? Shall we?

ooh just take a look at dat backpack

The first that we wanted to talk about is this, the RG Zaku II Mine Layer.

When we saw this announced for P-Bandai we thought to ourselves only one thing; that P-Bandai is really having a pretty hard boner for the Zaku II variants recently. The reason why is because just only recently we got the R-1A Shin Matsunaga’s variant and we figured that it would take awhile before we’d see another P-Bandai RG Zaku II’s, not this quickly.

But then again P-Bandai really likes to prove us wrong every time.

Though it must be said that it’s funny seeing this announced as a P-Bandai release, because like the Shin Matsunaga’s variant the Zaku II Mine Layer first made its Debut as a Retail MG kit. To see it in this form is kind of baffling really, never in our wildest dreams that we would see this as a P-Bandai. Then again with what we experience with the RG R2 Johnny Ridden quite recently, we can understand why they might opt to go P-Bandai for this one.

Really looking pretty sexy this with its MSV style decals

The reason being for us saying that is, besides the minelayer backpack system that is attached for this Zaku unit and the newly colored outer frame, the rest of this kit is still largely based out of the previous retail RG MS-06F (as well it is, looking at the model description). So to those thinking of getting this kit, do take note that this kit has a lot of loose outer-frame sections and it as well as a very fragile inner frame and outer frame.

With that being said we already can see this sounding like a good time for all of us here. Gee can’t wait to lose some hairs and fingers with this.

If this kit manages to hold this pose with nothing breaking or falling apart I would itself would be a miracle.

Though we have to admit that it is hard to deny that this kit does look hella fine and when we compare it to the MG version, this variant really looks a million times better than the MG variant. This is one kit that at least got it right at the looks

The more we look at this, the more we remember what the RG Zaku did to our poor bleeding fingers the last time we had some fun with the RG Zaku and we thought to ourselves “why do we want to put ourselves through that again? Getting this is really a bad idea’.

But then, we remembered that we are a bunch of masochists. So why the hell not.

God damn this looks really tasty

We remembered seeing the Gouf flight type made its debut back during the Next Gunpla Exhibition earlier this year and we immediately thought to ourselves “Oh, good finally we are getting this for retail. That is awesome Bandai”

Oh, how naïve we were for thinking that back then.

Because P-Bandai knows of our deepest darkest need and they know after revealing this kit there, there is no way they are giving this Gouf variant a retail release.

The smell of money is just too great for this kit.

Anyways, coming back to the kit itself, the Gouf Flight Type looks to share many of the previous Gouf Customs DNA, but we are seeing a lot of changes made on this variant like a different the shoulder armor, backpack system, the leg unit and the overall color scheme for this kit. The huge awesome Gatling gun/shield thing still looks roughly the same but regardless its still manages to look as imposing and as awesome as how it’d looked on the Gouf Custom.

So that’s good.

P-Bandai knows this is the one that we all are lusting for, it can smell our wants.

We are starting to get really excited for this kit and to be honest with you guys, P-Bandai or not. This kit does look great.

However, since it does share a lot of the same DNA as the Gouf Custom, I wonder if P-Bandai uses this chance to change or improve the joints on the arm units to enable it to properly hold and mount the enormous Gatling Gun Shield or will they keep the old joints to keep the cost down (haha, P-Bandai keeping the cost down? For something that they would charge us an arm and a leg for? that is hilarious)? Though we know that the latter would be the case, I do hope P-Bandai would do something about the joints on the arm unit, because it’s a shame really if we aren’t able to pose this properly with that awesome thing.

Regardless, this is a kit we are looking forward to getting and possibly seeing more of.

Honestly, this should’ve gotten a retail release instead.

It’s just too bad its P-Bandai.

Definitely one of the best MK-III variants out there

Oh yes, now we get to the best bit of the P-Bandai announcements. The announcement and the reveal of the RE100 Gundam MK-III Unit 8 aka Quattro Banjeena (aka the best char alias ever) variant.

Honestly, this is really surprising to see this kit announced, we were at a loss for words just looking at the promotional stills of this announcement. The previous MK-III is already one that won our hearts but this…..

Well why don’t you just take a look at that beautiful kit.

1000124445_8
Yes, really one to win our hearts this.

Though from the promotional stills it really doesn’t seem like the kit had any major upgrades over the retail variant, the only thing that differs here really is just the color. Usually, I would rag at this for being just that but seeing that this is a kit that is taken from the MSV lore and is not really officially made official in any medium. So I figured this is all right in my books on things that can be made P-Bandai.

At the very least it is finally getting made a proper kit.

1000124445_10
God this is one sexy machine

Even with that being said, it still sucks that we are seeing this being made into P-Bandai.

Probably one of the best GM Sniper Custom / II variant out there.

Finally, we are getting a Blue Destiny MG kit! Well technically not really actual BLUE DESTINY itself, but we are getting something from this series and what we get is a kit that is really a looker.

Really this is probably one the best looking P-Bandai MG kits to date and we would even say this is one the best MG GM kits out there, even though it uses a lot of the same parts from the existing MG GM sniper kits (it uses both the GM Sniper II and GM Sniper Custom’s parts) but somehow P-Bandai really manage to make it work here.

1000124351_5
Looking at this kit really is giving me some ideas for making a custom build kit by combining this a few kits together.

No saying ‘making it work’ doesn’t seem right, it’s more like they take all those different parts and mash them up and created a work of art, really its been awhile since we can look at a kit and say; “Yes, this is the one”.

Despite sharing a lot of the good bits from the MG Snipers, P-Bandai as well made some minor changes and as well did some additions to the body unit, like giving the Dominance some sweet looking leg verniers.

Not to mention the GM Dominance as well gets the same beam shield rifle like the one we saw with the HGUC Blue Destiny Unit 3 and would you look at that sweet color scheme…really there is just so much to love with this kit. Really looking at this is making us as excited again for another P-Bandai MG kit like how we all did with the MG Hazel. But unlike the Hazel, this isn’t a completely new build, which in turn makes this announcement less painful when we really have to part ways with our hard earned cash.

1000124351_9
Just look at that handsome kit, why don’t they make more GM’s like this?

In the bigger scheme of things though, I do hope that this does well enough to have Bandai interested in finally giving us the MG Blue Destinies.

Really if that ever happens, know that we would be one of the happiest mofos around. Though we do hope that they don’t come as P-Bandai, if it does….well I bet a lot of us here would be really upset.

Please don’t let it be so, we’ll send some offerings if you want us to ye great plastic lords, just please spare the Blue destinies, please. Let it be Retail please.

With that ends our 45th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. What do you guys think of the P-Bandai announcements? Is there anything that catches your fancy? This round P-Bandai has some pretty sweet announcements and we are quite excited for some of the kits that are finally getting some proper love. Out of all the announcements that we are seeing, we are most excited about the GM Dominance though, we are starting to save up so we can do a PO for this but how about you guys? Which ones are you looking forward to PO-ing? Anyways, we do want to hear your thoughts on this round’s P-Bandai announcements! Are you as frustrated as we are? 1. Gouf Flight Type does not deserve to be relegated to P-Bandai, fuck you Bandai.

Then again you made GM Dominance a kit, even as P-Bandai, that’s something right. So you’re off for now Bandai. 😛
