Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.48

Quiet week, so we decided to talk about the small kits

Hello and welcome back everyone to our 48th edition of our let’s Talk Gunpla segment! This is a pretty quiet week for both the retail and P-Bandai side, with the retail not having new kits announced and the P-Bandai side just is doing some re-release announcements for some of the MG AGE kits and some HGBF kits.

Although we could talk about those kits, we, however, wanted to instead talk about some HGBD kits that we didn’t manage to talk about in our last Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment since you know…we have been focusing a lot on the insanely frustrating P-Bandai announcements…..recently.

But that’s good because today we finally get to talk about….all the smaller retail HGBD releases (the ones that wasn’t talked much about) that we are getting soon. Basically, today we would be talking about.

The HGBD ‘DLC’ kits.

Yes, we know it’s not really an appropriate term to use for these kits, but honestly, when every time we take a look at these kits we can’t help to feel as such. However, it isn’t really a bad thing, since these ‘DLC’ kits are honestly quite awesome, and it’s also quite useful to have around if you are planning in making a custom HGBD or just a normal HG custom kit.

So, in a lot of sense, these are the ‘good’ kind of DLC’s that you can get and pretty fucking cheap too.

Anyways, enough banter from us, lets us now move onwards to our first kit!

this pack does make the Grimore Red beret looks a lot better here.

Yes, the first kit that we are talking about here is a kit that was announced together alongside the other HGBD kits back when we covered the HGBD kits back in Feb’18 (we did a two week double feature for the HGBD kits) and back then when we all saw this for the first time we all thought this was really something of a curious thing. It is one that is both strange and familiar at the same time.

When we first saw it all of us thought that it looks like a Backpack Zaku, no sorry, it looks more like a helicopter backpack Zaku. Naw that’s more like it.

Regardless, we are pretty intrigued by this kit actually. One that doesn’t really look quite conventional in many ways. Combining both the look of a Tieren (not a Zaku actually when we really think about it, but then again, the Tieren design was heavily influenced by the Zaku so its the same I guess?) and a tiltrotor helicopter/plane (whatever the term is) does make this look different than all the stuff that has come before it, but it does make us wonder what the actual practical use of this, since, you know, all of the MS is propelled by a jetpack system, maybe to conserve energy perhaps? But still….

Regardless, at there is one thing clear when we saw this kit for the first time, that it does look pretty freaking amazing here. Really, just look at how awesome all (some actually) the HGBD kits look when you combine both things together.

Really this is a look to die for indeed

However, from what we are seeing here in the promotional pictures, the kit does seem to look like it is mostly painted. So, we can safely assume, that the kit would come in its colorless form (just like most kits like this). Though this is still quite debatable of course because Bandai might change its mind on this. However, with our previous experiences with the ‘Add in packs’ or ‘DLC’ kits that we wouldn’t be surprised if it really comes colorless.

We do think this is good for most of us here since this is made and tailored for those seeking to customize their HG kits (or their HGBD kits) since it does mean that it makes the kit easier to custom paint. Though if we are honest, it is nice if Bandai really makes it colored though.

Hopefully one of many customizable looks that you can pull off with this kit.

We are looking forward to getting this curious kit, and hopefully, it would come to all of us soon in this coming may.

If the Tiltrotor made the OO Diver looks unique,, this makes the OO Diver looks bloody awesome

Here is another set that is set to release in this coming May, which like the Tiltrotor pack does as well work as an extension parts for the existing HGBD kit, the Gundam OO Diver kit (Oh we forget to tell you that the Tiltrotor is actually made to complement the Grimoire Red beret). This is made to be something that is a lot more conventional unlike the Tiltrotor pack, which is quite….unconventional.

Also, we have to say that this is by far one of the best weapons set that really have some of the best-designed weapons and equipment’s as compared to most that we’ve seen here. As well it does work well in enhancing the look of the Gundam OO Diver a lot, from the look of it, it does look like it takes a lot of inspiration from the 00 Riser, though honestly we dare say that this does look a lot better than the OO Riser. I do wonder if we can use this on the regular OO Gundam….

10517953b2
When I see this, I imagine the OO Gundam having all of these instead of the OO Raiser system…

This pack as well it does seem to be able to fit with most (post-Revive kits), for now, we can’t really confirm if that is true, but do not worry as we will put that to test as soon as we have this set in our hands.

The only thing that we do have a lot of trouble discerning on, is if this kit does come in color or colorless as how the other weapons sets are, because honestly if it this is really painted, I really have to comment on what a good job they did in making this look really bloody awesome.

10517953b3
Just like the Tiltrotor pack, you as well can combine this with any HG (POST-Revive) kit it seems

Because honestly, we would just get the OO diver just we can combine it with this thing. That’s how impressed we are with this weapons set.

Even if isn’t colored, we wouldn’t mind getting this.

What a cute little thing this is.

When we first saw this on the Scheherazade, we were all hoping that we might just get the ‘mini Ptolemaios’ as another separate release.

Who knows that finally our prayers were answered by the great Gunpla God!

And really what a gloriously awesome thing this is. Though this is made to be a compliment to the HGBD kits, honestly though just having this mini Ptolemy is enough to make the world a better place to live.

10527436a4
Honestly, Bandai should really make chibi sized ships next.

Though it must be said if you are planning to use it together or planning to customise any of your HG kits (Post-revive that is), just know you are going to have some pretty awesome looking parts together with the kits and we really do hope that Bandai would keep the parts for this coloured because honestly, our painting skills are not that good to make it look decent yet…hahaha.

10527436b3
Just like the rest, you can use to combine them with your existing kits

This thing is definitely something that we are all looking forward to getting this on this coming June indeed.

HGBD kits are already looking pretty awesome, even its ‘DLC’ kits look to be pretty amazing so far. I really imagine this year we will see more awesome kits from this series, and hopefully, a lot more amazing ‘DLC’ kits as well.

With that ends our 48th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Yes, this is a really quiet week and actually to just hang back and for us to be able to go back to the retail kits and cover the smaller kits that didn’t get much love from us before is really refreshing. Actually, it’s really a shame that we didn’t manage to talk about these things since honestly all of them looks pretty awesome. Anyways do let us know here of what from these kits that you are looking forward in getting or seeing more of and just know that we always look forward in reading and responding to your comments and thoughts of the kits and as well to this post!

Btw did you guys see the Gundam Build Divers yet? we all haven’t yet due to our insanely busy schedules, haha. So what do you think of the show? is it any good? Do let us know in the comment section below!

Anyways, we will be back with more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the next coming Wednesday and we will be back as well this Sunday with Hopefully a review for the MG GM Command (Colony Type) so do look forward to that! (Kimi you better not be having too much fun with the Asra Ninja.)

  1. “Build Divers DLC” is a perfect way to describe these kits since the TV series basically has people playing an MMO game. Well done!
