Trying on something from Bandai that is not gunpla

Hello and welcome back our fellow awesome readers! Kimi here and I’m Back with a new Unboxing and first impressions for the High-Grade Pacific Rim: Bracer Phoenix. I’ve been meaning to do this one since I procured it last month, with how awesome this one looked in its promotional pictures. It does manage to make us quite curious if it is as good to build as it is to look at.
Plus, it is good to have myself working on a new line of Mecha kits, not just Gunplas. Don’t worry though, we are still going to build up gunplas and review them here, so don’t you worry about that!
Although I probably can already guess what most of you here think, why don’t you build the DX Gypsy Avenger instead of this? Well, I do have a pretty valid reason for why we are doing the unboxing for this instead of the Gypsy Avenger. One of the said reason is that Gypsy Avenger is a pretty hard kit to get here in Malaysia and secondly, honestly I’m not as interested in the Avenger. So that is why I’m getting the Bracer Phoenix instead, since it is, in my opinion, the better-looking jaeger of the lot.
You can already see why I was more into this than the others by just looking at its awesome box art, just take look at the awesomeness below. Really, just take a moment to look at that awesome box art, beautiful ain’t it? As well I could see Bandai’s effort in making the kit interesting to the masses by putting point by point reasons on why people should get this kit. With the box looking to be more English translated too, I would say compared to most Bandai-related kits this is probably one of the most and the best English translated boxes out there.
The runner parts for the Bracer Phoenix are aswell had some pretty impressive. With them sporting some pretty awesome color schemes and as well them having some highly detailed parts. The Bracer phoenix does start to look like a pretty interesting kit to work on however what does makes this kit really interesting to me is really on the decals that this kit comes with.
Yes, it is still given a sticker based decals, but the level of quality that could be seen here makes the decals look more akin to the ones found on the MG’s. I’m honestly quite impressed by this if I were, to be honest. Though I was more surprised to see that this kit comes with only four runners. For the price that this kit was selling it, I thought I’ll get a lot more or at the very least some awesome effect parts or an awesome stand, but we just get the basic runners, for this kit.
Oh, well at least they look good.
However, I can’t help to suspect that the main reason why the kit was sold at this, I could say, premium price is really due to licensing, because honestly, I look at this and I can’t help to compare the Bracer Pheonix with the other existing HG kits out there with more to offer with most of them being sold at almost at the same price or cheaper.
But maybe after building this kit the price for this might be a lot more justifiable if the kit does turn out to be brilliant. So, let us see then.
As we are moving on to the manual, I found that the manual was both awesome and disappointing. The reason for this, because the manual when I saw it for the first time, looked like an MG manual. With that awesome front page, I was hoping to see a lot of awesome lore behind this awesome looking Jaeger.
However, there wasn’t much to go for besides the awesome front page. There are a few interesting bits here and there like having a whole page of a breakdown of the parts, but honestly, those looking for some lore? There really isn’t any lore that could be found in this kit. Though I would say, at the very least the manual for the HG Bracer Phoenix is one that is quite easy to navigate through.
Overall, there are a few things that I’m pretty bummed out with after going through the unboxing for the Bracer Phoenix, however, there is as well a lot of good things that I could see going for this line of HG kits. I’m really keen to see more of this kit, and hopefully, it’ll be one that I would be able to recommend to all of you here.
Its good to see Bandai making merch in support for all these awesome sci-fi movies, I really hope that one-day Bandai manages to snag the Alien franchise up so they could finally give me a kit that I have been meaning to get all my life;
A 1/144 scale Sulaco with a miniature dropship. Really if they had that made, it would indeed make me smile to no end.
With that ends my Unboxing and First impressions for the of the no grade High-Grade Pacific Rim: Bracer Phoenix! What do you guys think of the Unboxing this time? Honestly, it is always a good thing for me to build something different but honestly though? I was kind of disappointed with this one, however, I do hope that I would have a better experience with the kit when building it then unboxing it.
Anyways, we will be back again this week more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the coming Wednesday and I will be back again this Sunday hopefully with the no grade 1/100 De’nan Zon! So, do look forward to that, hopefully, things would go well for me this week.
