The Justice saga part 1
Hello! Kimi here and I’m back with a new Unboxing and first impressions post! At the start of this, you may notice from the title we are doing something a little bit different, a first for this blog. I will be doing our first double Unboxing and First Impressions feature or if we want to be more precise it’s a double justice feature. Haha.
The reason for me doing a double feature Unboxing for the two justice Gundams is that I felt it would be fun for me to compare the two and see how far Bandai has gone when we take a better look at this two very interesting kits. I personally know that comparing these tow Justices is going to be one hard task when we realize that, the ∞ Justice Gundam is supposed to be the newer and improved version of the Justice. However, the reality is that the ∞ Justice Gundam is a much older kit (the ∞ Justice was released back in 2008) when compared to the Justice Gundam which was just released last year.
Hence that is why we are going to be doing the much older kit first before we start on the newer kit so we can see how different these two kits when we compare them side by side.
So let us now, look into these two kits and see how different they are from our initial impressions, shall we? So with that let us first take a look at the…..
MG 1/100 ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam
Release Date: October 2008
Retail Price: MYR RM180.00*(USD $45.32*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Before we start yes, we admit that this is a much older kit when we compare it to the 2017’s Justice Gundam but honestly, there is just so much here that I really enjoyed going through, take the boxart for an instance. When you take a look at the boxart, the first thing that you’ll realize is that it is has a much more colorful tone towards it. it is as if they took a scene from the anime and turn it into a boxart for the justice. Its full of awesome action and hell the ∞ Justice Gundam looks fucking badass.
Though the awesomeness it’s not just limited to only just the boxart, as I would find out when I Unbox that the colors on the runner parts are fucking amazing. It is obvious that they do try to make as accurate color wise to the anime as they can, as well from what I can see they do try to make the parts look as simple as they can and they really manage to make the parts look simple and awesome.
Though that doesn’t mean the parts look too simple, no. Although they do try to make it look as accurate as to how it does in the boxart, Bandai still manages to make most of the parts look as detailed mechanically as they could. Honestly, I really do love how the parts for the ∞ Justice Gundam look here.
Though really the best part of unboxing this is when I get to review the Manual. I honestly had more fun going through the manual than with everything else I did here. I really do find with the manual that there is just so much to go through. Yes, you still have the usual lore stuff that you would find at the front pages and at the middle page of this manual, except for the ∞ Justice you would get some more lore on each part that you would be working on. I really think this is one brilliant thing to be included in the manual as it would be a good motivation for us, builder, to keep work on the kit.
Though the only down part for the ∞ Justice Gundam manual is that all of it is written in Japanese. But overall the manual is quite fun to go through. I really feel that after going through this kit, I’m honestly am excited to unbox the newer MG Justice Gundam.
So now let’s move on to the newer Justice Gundam, shall we?
MG 1/100 ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam
Release Date: June 2017
Retail Price: MYR RM178.00*(USD $44.81*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
If the ∞ Justice Gundam was made to look a lot closer to its anime look, this version of the Justice Gundam was made to look a lot of more realistic. Though they did manage to make it look very impressive, I wasn’t taken by the look of this justice as much as I did with the ∞ Justice earlier on. Really.
Though I can get why alot of people might like this version because, in all honesty, this kit does have a pretty awesome boxart and the reason why I don’t like it as much as I did with the ∞ Justice, is that I do feel that the Justice’s Boxart just have too much stuff going on. As well they used one too many lighting effects for this boxart until it got to a point where it annoys me, I know it looks awesome. I don’t need them to let me know that its super shiny as well.
However, the feeling does change as soon as I open up the box, the runners for the Justice does look really detailed and impressive. There is a lot of parts where that’d I find in the MG Justice where I was impressed by the level of detail that could be seen there. I could even say there are some instances here where I feel that some of the parts looked better when compared to the MG ∞ Justice’s parts.
Oh, not to mention here as well that they also included a proper stand for the Justice this time around, unlike the ∞ Justice where you don’t get a stand, even when this kit looks like it seriously needed one. Although the stand does look like it is taken from the Action base series, we still appreciate that Bandai is kind enough to provide us with a proper stand this time.
However, not all that we can see here is good, though the parts do look highly detailed and realistic, but, I’m honestly not as impressed by some of the Justice’s runner’s colors and some of the parts. The reason of my displeasure really comes from when I see that some of them do look and feel cheap, it’s really a far cry from what I can see with the ∞ Justice’s Runner parts where the quality of the parts is excellent. It’s a shame where I can see that the parts for the justice are really made with some of the highest of details, but somehow when you take a look at the ∞ Justice’s you can’t help to feel a bit disappointed.
But it was worse when I finally get to review the Justice’s Manual is where I feel the most disappointed. Compared to the MG ∞ Justice’s manual, the MG Justices manual looks fairly simple and lazy. You REALLY don’t get the same amount of effort and content as to how you get with the MG ∞ Justice’s much older and untranslated manual. Though I know Bandai really try to make it be as simple and easy to navigate, taking out most of the awesome lore doesn’t really help in making the Manual better, it just managed to make Bandai look lazy.
Oh well at least the manual is English translated, and I still manage to enjoy reading the manual even with its lack of content. It’s just that I really wish they were to put the same effort as they did here.
When we compare these two kits, just from our initial impressions. I can safely say that I’m warming up to the MG ∞ Justice more then I did with the MG Justice. Really there is just so many things I liked that was done better in MG ∞ Justice, to make matters worse the MG ∞ Justice is a much older kit as compared to the MG Justice. We do find that, it is hard for us to NOT look at the MG ∞ Justice and wonder where Bandai went wrong with their current MG line-up that made a much older kit seem to have a lot more to offer than their newer kit.
Yes, we realized that this is still our initial impressions on both kits and honestly we can’t say or know for sure on how things might be when we really start working on them. Because one them might turn out to be a surprise and one of them might end up being a disappointment, we can never know till we actually work on the kit.
So we shall start work and see if one is better than another, this is definitely one review that I am really excited about doing indeed.
