The amazing spiderball edition
Hello and welcome to our 57th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! This week we are back covering P-Bandai kits release announcements and this week we are having one weird as fuck release. Another is a kit that looks just exactly its retail counterpart, one that we really have trouble trying to figure out if this is worth getting or not…..
and it would be the first kit that we will be talking about this week…..
So, without further ado, let get into this week’s P-Bandai announcement, shall we?
HG 1/144 MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam [U.C.0088 Version] (HGUC)
Release Date: 2018/09
Estimated price: JPY 2,376* (MYR RM86.13* / USD $21.55*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
This particular kit is one that we really have trouble with. Why you may ask? Well….why don’t you guys just take a while to just look at them both.
<The left is the revive version whilst the right is the U.C.0088 Version>
At first glance, can you really see the differences between the two? No? Then you are not alone, we as well have some hard time trying to see the big difference in between the U.C.0088 Version and the Revive version. You take one look at this kit, and immediately you would start asking the question of what differs this to the Retail variant, or if they actually did anything new to this.
Well only after we took a REALLY close look at this, we can really say that…..yes they did, though you REALLY have to take a much muuuuch closer look to this variant to see the difference.
The most obvious change that was made on the U.C.0088 variants that could be seen is on the head unit for the Zeta, whereas for this variant P-Bandai gave it a more detailed head unit mold. P-Bandai as well made discreet changes in the shoulder armor, front waist armor, arm unit grenade launcher and the Zeta’s backpack system. The changes that were made is one that would require some time to see what kind of changes made here. We as well noticed, from the promotional pictures that they give this variant a shiny-ish color injected mold on the runners without making any significant changes to its original color scheme. We can’t really confirm this, but from the promotional pictures, it might be the case. Or it could be that they gave this variant much brighter colors to it?
Well, whatever it is the case it does look somewhat different when compared to the retail side, then again there is a possibility that all of us developed a bad case of color blindness (like Kimi). So please don’t hesitate to correct us if we are wrong.
The one thing that we can confirm for this variant is really the fact that we know that this kit is based on the Revive version of the zeta.
Though, looking at this we can’t help to feel the minor improvements made here does manage to make the Zeta look slightly better than its Retail counterpart. Though still is But this is not a kit that we would recommend people to go out of their way to get. Since honestly?
What is really new with this one exactly.
Except the next one on the list, this one manages to blow our minds with its announcement.
MG 1/100 RB-79 Polypod Ball (MGBD)
Release Date: 2018/08
Estimated price: JPY 3,240* (MYR RM117.45* / USD $29.39*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Yes, by far the weirdest MG kit to be announced thus far and what do you know, it came from the Gundam Build Divers series. Funnily these kinds of weirdness would only be reserved for the HG releases but to see them in MG form really does make us feel more excited to see more weird MG Guplas in the future!
Honestly, though, it has been a while we’ve seen Gunplas with designs this weird and despite its weirdness, we really love how it looks!
Seriously, we are shocked to see this in MG form but it not the bad sort of shocked. This is because usually with the MG kits we would get something badass and awesome but never weird. This kit definitely takes the weird cake part well especially when you take a look at this and see a Ball unit with a crab-like/spider-like leg. Taking one look at this, we can’t imagine how anyone could come up with an idea to convert a ball into a crab/spider ball thing. Whoever that comes up with this is either a genius or a madman. Really.
Though weird this Ball may be, we honestly can’t deny the fact that we do find this kit quite appealing. We just love how this MG kit looked. The leg design on the MG Polypod does look super detailed and at the same time weird as fuck but somehow rather it kind of fits how the kit looked overall.
This is definitely one MG kit that we hope to see on our shores soon!
And definitely, one that we would have the spiderman soundtrack playing throughout out time building this one up for sure! Ha-ha!
With that ends our 57th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! Another P-Bandai announcement week and one that we would say the weirdest announcement week we had so far! Though we have to say that the MG Polypod Ball does win our hearts this week with its weird looks! What do you think of the Polypod Ball? Are you as fascinated by it as much as we are? Do let us know in the comment section!
Anyways do let us know here of what from these kits that you are looking forward in getting or seeing more of and just know that we always look forward in reading and responding to your comments and thoughts of the kits and as well to this post!
We will be back with more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the next coming Wednesday and kimi will definitely be back this Sunday with the 1st part of the 2-part MG Justice review saga. Hopefully no more stomach fiascos from him this week. So, do look forward to that!
