Hello, Kimi here and I’m back once again this week with my final thoughts on the RG 1/144 OZ-00MS Tallgeese EW. Version! It has been a while since I had a go with an RG kit, was a bit worried that I might be a bit rusty with this particular one. Since this is one of the hardest and one of the toughest Gunpla line of kits.

Though strangely…..with this, I honestly wasn’t having any major issues and was having…well…why don’t you read more to know what I feel about this?

But before we do, let us first do something that we haven’t been doing in this past couple of weeks.

Yes, that’s right. The history lesson section of the review is back baby!

So, strap on and let us go into the….

History and development of the OZ-00MS Tallgeese

When talking about the Eve Wars, it is hard for us to not talk about the Tallgeese. Since the Tallgeese is basically is the granddaddy of all the MS in the AC (After Colony) time period the one that all the current MS (in this timeline) was based from.

The Tallgeese is really one MS that is quite unique, this is because the MS had a Gundam face but doesn’t have the Gundam name attached to it. This is because that is just a mask unit for the main camera unit. if you were to take the mask off, you may find that the Tallgeese looks more closely like the LEO then the Gundam.

but you may be thinking…why does it have a gundam Face in the first place?

Though it is still unknown why the Tallgeese was given a Gundam-esque- face mask but the reason might be seen on the development side of the Tallgeese. This is because the Tallgeese was developed and designed back in AC 170 by the same Engineers that made the Gundams.

The original designers and Engineers intended to develop the Tallgeese to be the basis for all future MS. It is obvious from its development where you can see that the Tallgeese was made to be a well-rounded Mobile Suit featuring both long range and close-range engagement capabilities. The desginers as well gave the Tallgeese some pretty heavy armor for protection and to make sure that the MS is still able to handle well it was given some pretty impressive High-performance boosters.

The Tallgeese was equipped with the impressively powerful ‘super Vernier’ boosters that were capable of producing an acceleration of about 15G’s, even the heavy armor equipped on the Tallgeese.! The ‘super Vernier’s’ enables the Tallgeese to achieve some very impressive maneuverability in which gave it a performance that was 3 times faster than the OZ-07AMS Ares. Though in turn it does strains the pilot when he/she pilots this insane MS.

Due to all of this impressive stuff crammed into the Tallgeese, it does ultimately made the Tallgeese an MS that is very expensive to develop and ultimately too expensive Mass produce. So instead they decided that it make more sense to simplify and cheapen the overall design so they would be able to reduce the production costs of this MS and thus creating the Mass production version of the Tallgeese; The OZ-06MS Leo.

The Tallgeese was shelved after the cheaper variant of it was made available and only in AC 195 then it was finally given a new lease of life to help combat the Gundams. Since the OZ doesn’t really have anything in their arsenal that is able to combat the Gundams that was running amok destroying their military installations. The restoration and the upgrade of the Tallgeese were overseen by Zechs Merquiese who ultimately piloted the Tallgeese and fought the Gundams.

During its encounters with the Gundams, the Tallgeese was proven to be a match to the Gundams which is quite impressive considering it was a much older MS compared to the Gundams. It was later destroyed when Zechs self-destructed the Tallgeese so he could claim the Wing Zero for himself. It was later recovered by Treize Khushrenada, who rebuild the Tallgeese and re-named the rebuilt OG Tallgeese to the Tallgeese II.

The recovery of the Tallgeese as well helped the development of the next-gen Tallgeese unit by using battle data gained from the first Tallgeese and the end product of this MS can be seen in the much newer Tallgeese III unit.

With that, ends the History lesson of the OZ-00MS Tallgeese, now let us head into the review!

The Review

It really has been awhile since I’ve picked up an RG kit. I knew when I saw this on the shelves that I must get this RG kit to get myself back into the groove of building the RG kits. I was as well encouraged by the good press this has been getting around, though I have to admit with my previous experiences with the RG Zaku R2 I was a bit skeptical that this might be a good kit.

However, after completing this kit, I realized on how silly I was for thinking as such because this kit turned out to be one of the very BEST RG kits I’ve had my hands on!

for starters this kit was a fun kit to build, every single part works and fits well to each other. Every single part that you cut off just feels so damn good and satisfying to just put together and none of them had any fitting issues whatsoever. Whats more all the parts here looks good and all of them is accurately colored, so there is no real need for you to go out of your way to have painted up or do anything much with it.

Another impressive thing that I realize is that even though the kit does come with shiny parts for all the outer frame parts, most of the parts were undergated and to some that weren’t undergated, the gated part was placed in a place that is not obvious when you cut it off from the main runner. This, in turn, does make building this less stressful and made my life a lot easier.

Another thing that I as well find quite impressive here is when I talk about the manual. I do find that the building instructions for this kit to be quite straightforward, no bullshit manual. Even though you still had to take time navigating/finding the parts and yes it still is a source of frustration when every time I build an RG kit. Ultimately when it comes down to the actual building of it the Manual really does its job well in conveying the instructions well to the builder. Honestly, I really have no real criticisms when it comes down to the manual, but I really do hope that Bandai in the future would include the ‘parts needed’ section in the manual to make life easier for the builder.

The stickers as well do it their job well this time around. As I was using the stickers on some of the parts, I never came across the actual need to reapply the stickers as soon I applied it. Even without the use of any mark setter, I do find it to be able to hold itself well on the parts that it was applied upon. Looking at this we do believe that Bandai did manage to improve upon this well and for the first time I really had a blast applying them to the kit.

The articulation here for the kit is as well one of the very best I’ve seen on the RG kit. Every single part/section work as intended, though there is some limitation on the arm unit movements, however, it doesn’t really hamper much with the articulation of the arm since the arm is still able to be posed in a very awesome way. What more even with the kit having all its equipment’s attached to it, the RG Tallgeese was still able to stand itself well with no weight issues or wobbling issues what so ever. Though it must be said that regardless of that fact, it still advisable to get a proper stand for the Tallgeese if you really want to have it make use of the awesome articulation here.

I as well do find the Tallgeese weapons and equipment here to be designed quite well. This is especially true with the dober gun having an adjustable gun grip system. Though admittedly it is really a bitch to get it to work properly but if you are patient enough with it you will manage it through. I as well find that the Tallgeese’s manipulator system here to be one of the best when compared to the others. It is really one best manipulator RG sets that I had the pleasure of working on and it was really one part of the kit that I was most impressed with.

Though we have been singing praises on this awesome kit, it is not to say that there aren’t any issues with the kit. There is one thing that I find a bit annoying with the kit…..the backpack unit. Yes, unfortunately, the only thing that isn’t as good as the rest is the one that was supposedly the highlight of this RG kit. Why do I say that? Well, the reason being is that the backpack unit feels really flimsy, it is really hard to have it stay in its “full burst” mode. It would consistently close itself up whenever you leave it open for a few minutes and the wing section wouldn’t stay still unless you glue it up there. However, even though it is quite a bitch to work on, but it is not to say that posing it wouldn’t be impossible, you still can but you will spend some time on it just to get it to look awesome.

Even though the back-pack unit for this RG Tallgeese is quite flimsy, the rest of the kit is not. In fact, I’m happy to report that the rest of the kit is quite solid! There isn’t thing majorly wrong with it and everything works as intended (well except the backpack when I think about it). I really can’t help to feel like this kit reminds me of the RG Unicorn as soon as was done with it and it really was one that puts a huge smile on my face.

I am starting to feel like this would make a good candidate for one of the very best RG kits of 2018. It really is one of the best-looking kits and not to mention of one of those that I really had a lot of fun with.

Am really honestly falling in love with the RG Tallgeese, at this rate I might see myself getting the SHINY P-Bandai kit that is coming soon.

So in conclusion, should you get the RG Tallgeese? All I can say to that is FUCK YES.
