Hello! Kimi here and I’m back with a new Unboxing and First Impressions of the insanely rare P-Bandai MG 1/100 MS-14B Gelgoog High Mobility Type (Uma Lightning’s Custom)! Interestingly I just realized that this kit is our very first P-Bandai of the year and this is as well one of the rarest kits to find.
Not to mention one of the best-looking ones too.
This is one of the rare lines kits that I purchased back when I was traveling to Taiwan. Strangely, even though this was released back in January 2018, this is one P-Bandai MG kit that I don’t see a lot of people talking about it nor did I see this being sold on masse unlike the rest of the other much popular P-Bandai kits.
Well, granted this is a P-Bandai kit and I am aware that this was supposed to be rare and all, but even then, at the very least I was expecting to be able to see one or two of them being sold by my local retailers. Yes, I admit I do find it quite strange at first, but after unboxing this kit, now I understand why this might be one of the hardest P-Bandai kits to find.
and it wasn’t just because of its awesome look or because it bears the P-Bandai tag. It was more because when I unboxed this kit, I found that it was better then what I expected!
Well at most parts at least….
But before we get to that, let us first talk about the main thing the packaging or a.k.a the boxart on this MG P-Bandai kit and honestly this kit does have an amazing boxart here. For something that only has one default color setting its amazing that P-Bandai Managed to make the boxart here looks bloody awesome. I figured it might be because they decided to use the actual kit on the front page of the box art.
Looking at the awesome boxart does make me want to re-create the scene with the soon would be completed kit. Though it does have an impressive front end, the rest of the box does look quite simple. I like the fact that they try not to give anything away with this, and even though they don’t try to reinvent the box, like how Kotobukiya did with their Megami Device line up (where they gave the Megami Device kit a very sexy matte box) P-Bandai still manages to make the box look and feel like a premium item.
Just by looking at this Gelgoog’s boxart, this kit already made me really starting to dig this kit.
As I m moving to the unboxing of the unboxing part, I have to say that I was immediately impressed by the level of quality and awesomeness that was inside the box. The parts look BEAUTIFUL. There is really no better words to better describe how awesome the runners looked. The detail on the parts is just amazing and even though we know that this still shares many of the same parts from the previous Retail version of this kit (that is already looked amazing) but even on the newer molds, the details seen there does match the quality seen on the older parts.
Really impressive stuff this.
Yes, although it is obvious that this P-Bandai kit uses a lot of molds from the previously released Retail variant. But unlike my previous go with the P-Bandai GM II, this P-Bandai kit omitted many of the other parts from the retail side and they only included the parts that were necessary for the kit to really work. I have to admit that I was a tad a bit disappointed that they didn’t include some of those retail parts in this awesome kit, because honestly, it would be interesting to be able to swap the parts and convert it into the normal version of the MS-14A but with Uma Lightning’s awesome color scheme.
Then again, including those parts, it might make the price for this P-Bandai MG be…so much more expensive and not to mention we aren’t buying this MG P-Bandai kit just to build another normal variant with a different color.
It’s just that, it would be nice to able to explore new optional options for this kit.
The manual, however, it’s not as impressive as the rest of the kit because just like how it was with the P-Bandai GM II MG kit…you only get an instructional manual here. No lore and no backstory attached to this P-Bandai kit. Though honestly? I was kind of expecting it to be more less the same here.
Regardless, I am still quite content with what I am getting here and plus with the price that I paid for the kit I do think that overall I do get what I paid for here. I am quite honestly am really excited to start working on this and plus with the kind of experience I had with the previous Retail version of the Gelgoog Ver.2.0, this might be one might be one that I would really have tons of fun with!
God, I really can’t wait to see more of this! This is one Unboxing that is leaving me with a lot of good vibes and excitement for it!
With that ends this round of Unboxing and First Impressions for the P-Bandai’s MG 1/100 MS-14B Gelgoog High Mobility Type! What do you guys think of the Unboxing this time? I do feel like this P-Bandai is looking quite promising thus far and really this is one project that I’m really looking forward to really get my hands on A.S.A.P!
