Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.72

and here we thought that we have seen everything…

We are back again this week with the 72nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! This week we are going to be talking about some very recent Bandai retail announcements and man oh man, it looks like we are having quite a lot to unpack this week! We are really getting a lot of retail announcements this week!

Because of that, we decided to partition up some of this week Let’s Talk Gunpla to 2 separate sections…we just felt that there is just too much here to cover in a singular post. Not to mention that we have had to make due with some last minute changes to the post due to a very very last minute additions to one of the release announcements…Will not disclose which…but we feel, by reading through..you may have some idea of which one of it that we had to make the last minute changes at..

a hint, it’s the one we have as the cover this time.

Anyways, without further ado, let us get into the announcements, shall we?

HG 1/144 Gundam AGE II Magnum SV Version. (HGBD)

HG 1/144 Gundam AGE II Magnum SV Version. (HGBD)

Release Date: 2018/12

Estimated price: JPY 1,870* (MYR RM 68.54/ USD $ 16.60*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

It looks as impressive as it is from behind as how it is from the front.

The first retail HG kit that we will be talking about is one is a head turner.

Yes, we might not have come around to watch the anime just yet…but so far all of us here agrees that the Gundam Build Diver series had some of the best-looking MS re-designs that we’ve seen so far and as well one that you’ll find out today….that has one of the insane MS designs out of all the Gundam Build animes.

Honestly, even for all of us that isn’t really that invested with the Gundam Build Divers anime,  for us to come into an agreement that that all the gunplas that were released for the Gundam Build Divers here looks brilliant is something that we really have to give credit to the creators of this awesome anime.

So, when we saw this announced in between all the other HGBD Guplas that is set to release, we knew immediately that this is the Gunpla that we will definitely spend our hard-earned cash on. Especially when it looks this goddamn good.

How can we not like something that looks this good?

Based on the recently released HGBD Gundam AGE II Magnum which was a kit that was based on the AGE II from the HGAGE, is one that we feel this time comes with some pretty interesting upgrades on it. The first thing that you’ll notice in this is that gone is the blue and white color scheme from the original version.

This time the AGE II Magnum II SV Ver. comes in the grey and white color scheme and somehow rather, Bandai managed to make it look somehow unfinished but strangely at the same time…quite nice. The reason why we said it looked unfinished is because of the color scheme of the AGE II Magnum SV. Ver here does somewhat remind us of a kit that is in the middle of priming and just awaiting the final paint finishing touch.

Which does make it look cool af.

some of the new upgrades that the AGE II Magnum SV Ver. has

What’s more, we feel like the modification made, here is just…insane. Modification on the head, body and leg section makes this kit looks really badass. Plus, the combination of some elements of the 00 Gundam is really making this look like something else indeed. We like how it looked overall, it does make it look pretty badass.

However, because of the changes made on the leg section that kind of made it look like it wouldn’t be able to stand….at all. It is obvious by one look that if you want to best pose this, you will need a stand to do so. Thankfully, since it is released under the HGBD line up, we have a feeling that this would definitely come with a stand together with the kit.

This is without a doubt is one that we are looking forward to getting!

Oh did ya know it can as well transform? What more awesome things can it do?

HG 1/144 Narrative Gundam w/ The A-pack equipment (HGUC)

HG 1/144 Narrative Gundam w/ The A-pack equipment (HGUC)

Release Date: 2018/12

Estimated price: JPY 4,675* (MYR RM 171.36/ USD $ 41.49*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Just the narrative alone is already looking pretty badass…in the unfinished kind of way

What happens when one decides to take the Nu-Gundam, unicorn, the grandpa gundam, and the M.E.T.E.O.R system and combine them all together?

Well, my dear readers, you will end up with this. A glorious and the most awesome looking unfinished Gundam ever. One that we really think is the most badass HGUC kit to have come out for retail this year!

Comes equipped with an impressive array of new gimmicks and new stuff, we are honestly quite impressed with what Bandai has to offer with this. Though the MS itself looked like an unfinished Nu-Gundam with an unfinished Gundam Unicorn combined with parts from the grandpa Gundam here and there. We have to say that we are quite surprised that we liked how unfinished it all looked. It does look like a pretty interesting kit, to say the least.

Hmm that is some sexy backside you have there

Plus with the extreme amount of detail here and to forget the impressive piece of hardware that the Narrative Gundam is mounting on. We are already salivating to the thought of the time we eventually get this glorious kit. This is really looking like something quite promising indeed.

I know there is a lot of you here might not like the SEED reference here especially in for the UC purists out there….but honestly one can’t help to think of the M.E.T.E.O.R system when one look at this big and glorious thing. It might not be as such(by lore that is, it be insane to put the SEED universe as the same category as the UC) but looking at it one can’t really stop to think that this looks like it was inspired by it and really, we don’t think that is a bad thing.

Tell me you guys don’t see the SEED reference when you saw this

We think it’s a good thing to be inspired by since we do think the M.E.T.E.O.R system is the only awesome thing to have come out from the SEED series and not to mention we do think the UC adaptation looks even better than its SEED’s counterpart.

Yes, we realized that this is one of the most expensive retail HG’s that have been announced as of late. But it’s not like this is looking like it is lacking in content… In fact, by the looks of it, we are looking at something that we will spend long hours with and we have a feeling that this might be one that we might have tons of fun building.

Hmm, what big guns you are packing to the party eh?

Though, one can’t help to wonder if they are going to just release the Narrative as its own standalone release…..we would love to have more Gundam Narrative in our lives. We wonder if it would come with Samuel.L.Jackson’s voice? We would really love it if it comes with that…

Oh no that’s not how it works? Oh, Goddamnit.

And Finally, let us now talk about something….that is both interesting and disturbing releases thus far.

HG 1/144 Mobile Doll Sarah (HGBD)

HG 1/144 Mobile Doll Sarah (HGBD)

Estimated price: JPY 2,040* (MYR RM 74.77/ USD $ 18.10*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

hmm, for the first time we are at a loss of words when we all saw this

Yes, we finally get to the last bit and as well now we can really talk about….this.

The one piece of news here that we kind of have quite a time discussing and aswell. we had to make last minute changes due to the new information that we have on this…pretty interesting and weirdest HG kit to date.

Seriously we had quite a time trying to dissect this one since this is a pretty interesting release announcement. We were making a lot of speculations since at the beginning of our discussions Bandai only teased us with a very vague promotional picture. We thought at the time it may seem like we might or might not be getting a new MS Girl for the HG line up that was based from the HGBD series.

However now when we finally get to see more of it…. we admit when we saw this we were left a little bit disturbed by what we are saw. If we were, to be frank, no, we are not bothered by the fact this is a kit based on a small little girl. We are in fact were quite bothered by this……

We are left feeling slightly unnerved when we saw that for the first time

Yes, the look.

We are slightly disturbed by the look of this kit, why? Well, there is something about how it looked….. it is not just Because it looked like a much more humanoid female version of the Gundam Vidar. To be honest? there just something about the way the kit looked at you that makes it a bit…..unnerving like something from a horror movie.

Dem dead eyes…

It wasn’t as bad in the Mecha mode…but still, it was a bit unnerving to see

Plus the overall look of this is as well is unlike what we’ve seen so far. Really we don’t mind it if it would look more human-like how the Super Fumina or the others from the Gundam Build Fighters was but this…it looks more machine than human. Yes, yes we know this is not really based on an actual character like the Super Fumina, but still, we were hoping that it would have a much more human (oh well humans in anime kind of way) look to it all.

Though honestly, we don’t think its really a bad thing since it does somehow manage to look…quite badass in some way..well we would even go as far to say that yes it does look damn good. We can understand why people like this, especially those that have been following the Gundam Build Diver series, but for us tho…this might be the first Gundam Build Diver kit that we aren’t really that keen in getting. Even though, we do feel like it does have a pretty rad look to it.

Can’t Deny even in its freakiness, still does look quite alright

Regardless, we do like the fact that Bandai is still doing something insane for the retail side, and we hope that if this does well, we might be able to see more of this being made. Hopefully one day we would be seeing one that looks less freaky compared to this…

With that ends our 72nd  episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment and as well ends our 1st section of the retail announcements this week. Honestly, there is a lot to unpack even with this weeks part of the news and we are really looking forward to the next week portions as well to be honest.

Because it looks like we have a lot more interesting announcements that are ripe for awesome conversations!
