A very Wing-ish week this is turning out to be….
We are back once again this week with our 74th Edition of out Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! This week, we are going to talking about ‘some’ of P-Bandai’s somewhat recent kit announcements this week. Funnily enough, we realize as we were looking at the P-Bandai announcements this week, we really can’t help to feel like this week’s announcements is pretty Gundam Wing focused….
Yes, this week we are looking at 2 kits announcements from the Gundam Wing series. Anyways, without further ado let us now get to the announcements, shall we?
RG 1/144 OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II
Release Date: 2018/12
Estimated price: JPY 2,700* (MYR RM 99.05/ USD $ 23.81*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
This was actually one news out of the two, that we have been kind of expecting to hear for months since right after the release of the Vanilla RG Tallgeese kit. We even expected this to be announced to be released under the P-Bandai banner.
So, yeah…when this was announced no one here were surprised and honestly, we are glad that FINALLY, we get to see that the RG line of kit getting the Tallgeese II!
Though we have to be honest, it’s not like P-Bandai really needed to do a lot in developing this kit. Since the only thing that P-Bandai NEEDS to do is give the RG Tallgeese II a new color scheme, a new cockpit hatch cover and as well a new headpiece mold for its pretty head.
and it is obvious from the promotional picture that you are seeing here, P-Bandai really manages to deliver this in spades with the RG Tallgeese II. Because all of us here were pretty impressed by what we are seeing here. We do feel like this is by far the most accurate representation of the Tallgeese II here and we would even go as far to say that this looked even better than its MG counterpart, to be honest.
Even that said, we do admit that the changes made to the RG Tallgeese II aren’t all that significant, but we do think it was enough to make us QUITE excited for it. All of us here can’t really deny that the RG Tallgeese does look insanely good here and we do feel it could be mainly down to the part recolors that we are seeing on this version of the Tallgeese. Really we do feel like blue and white color scheme here does look good on the RG Tallgeese II.
Usually, part recolors aren’t the main reason on why we would go out of our way to get a kit, but here P-Bandai did such a good job with the recoloring of the Tallgeese’s parts that we were finding it hard to think otherwise. It as well wasn’t helped with the fact that the existing parts that were inherited from the RG Tallgeese looked really good which in turn made the recolored parts look so good.
Plus, with how much fun we had with the previously released RG Tallgeese, we really have no doubt that this would be an awesome kit to built. It would really be insane of us to pass this one up, so yes, we are definitely will be getting this one up.
Come to think about it, since we as well have the MG version of this….it might be fun if we were to do a double feature for this two…..well that is really one idea worth exploring. But it might be one that we have to wait until the end of this year to see if that is possible!
Oh, yes, we wouldn’t mind seeing more awesome RG Tallgeese!
HiRM 1/100 Hi-Resolution Model XXXG-01W Wing Gundam EW
Release Date: 2019/02
Estimated price: JPY 14,580* (MYR RM 534.86/ USD $ 128.59*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Next on the list is a kit that…we didn’t really expect to see being announced.
Really unlike the RG Tallgeese, we kind of thought with the release of the HiRM Zero Custom…there is no way that they would consider churning out another Wing Gundam variant in a HiRM lineup. Then again we forget to put P-Bandai under consideration when making that conclusion, so here were are talking about a kit that we aren’t particularly excited for.
Oh lest we forget, like the Zero, this is as well is going to be one of the most expensive 1/100 kits to date. well at the very least it had that going for it.
Well, the reason for our lack of excitement for this is really because it’s still using the same Ver.K.A design that we got back in March 2004. What’s more, it’s not like we got this design of the Wing Gundam once, in fact, we ALREADY have two versions of this Wing Gundam in the MG form. Once as an MG Ver.K.A another as a normal retail MG kit.
We are actually getting really sick at looking at the same Ver.K.A Wing Gundam design being used again and again.
Plus as we were looking at this kit, we realized that there isn’t really nothing new that they had to offer here, unlike the Zero where at the very least it included the Drei Zwerg system. Honestly, we feel that the only thing that this thing had going for is that this is the shinier version of the’Ver.K.A’ Wing Gundam and one that will look to be the embodiment of a premium item….. by being one of the most expensive 1/100 version of the Wing Gundam to date.
However, we would admit that P-Bandai did really manage to create one of the best looking Ver.K.A Wing Gundam variants here. This kit is by far the one of the most detailed looking version out of all the 1/100 Ver.K.A Wing gundam variants. Yes, this managed to out detail even the already insanely detailed Original MG Ver.K.A kit. Plus, it does look quite fancy with its shiny parts.
However, despite us saying that….it is hard for us to look at this and really justify getting this P-Bandai kit. The reason being is that, well, it’s not like we have not HAVE had this version in the 1/100. Yes, this is really one kit that we don’t understand why it needs to be re-released again and honestly, we felt that it would be better if they were to just use the original design and just add in the detail instead of then them keep milking out the Ver.K.A design.
Plus with this P-Bandai HiRM kit coming in with that insane asking price… It really makes us think, why the hell that P-Bandai thinks that this is a good idea.
This is definitely one kit that we don’t think we would be getting, and really it’s not like missing this one would actually matter.
We have cheaper options available, get em instead.
With that ends our 74th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. This week is really a mixed bag for all of us, but at the very, we do have the RG Tallgeese II that we are quite excited for.
We really can’t wait to get out hands on this awesome blue Tallgeese.
