Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.95

A week of surprises, but for the first time it wasn’t Dio

We are back again this week with our 95th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! This week we will be talking about some of the upcoming P-Bandai announcements that were made recently! After P-Bandai went through a few weeks of bad press, will we finally be seeing a good one from them this week?

So without further ado, let us now find out, shall we?

HG 1/144 MS-06K Zaku Cannon (HG Gundam the Origin: MSD)

HG 1/144 MS-06K Zaku Cannon (HG Gundam the Origin: MSD)

The lean, mean and Green machine!

Oh would you look at that, it seems like we are starting this one off another variant of the P-Bandai’s version of the MSV turned MSD Zaku Cannon (HG Gundam the Origins). Honestly, it has been a while since we heard P-Bandai announced new kits for the Origins line up and we are actually quite glad to still see them have something up their sleeves.

Although, it may be said that this particular HG kit looked mighty familiar…hmm. Well before we get to that let us FIRST talk about what we think about it, shall we?

From what we are seeing here, it is quite obvious that this kit was based on the P-Bandai’s version of the MSV inspired version of the HG Gundam the Origins MSD Zaku Cannon Test Type (it was released back in December 2017). No changes were made to the base kit and as well there isn’t really no new parts that were given to it.

It looks the same but yet different I wonder why?

So, what makes this one different then?

Well, this version of the HG MSD Zaku Cannon gets a new badass paint job. With this version, they ditched the Desert brown and yellow color scheme to this awesome Jungle camo scheme; dark and light green. It was as well was given a pretty sweet decal, one that we admit looked like racing stripes from a sports car.

However, with the decals on, we can’t help to feel like this kit looked mighty familliar…it looked like something that we’ve seen last year…….So we decided to do some digging…

and sure enough, we found out why we felt like we’ve seen this kit somewhere before. The reason why we felt like we’ve seen it’s because of last year we have seen the MG version of this before, which was the Ian Greydon version of the Zaku Cannon last year. Which was as well a P-Bandai release if we are not mistaken…

The Ian Greydon’s decals look like something that was designed by the boffins in Porsche, well some parts of it anyways.

Though, we do wonder if this is their way of paying homage to the kit that they used as an inspiration of? Hmm.. Regardless, this is really one P-Bandai HG Gundam the Origins kit that we really look forward to getting. Plus it would be awesome if we can have both this version (using the Ian Greydon’s decal of course) posed side by side with the MG version of the same kit.

All is left for us to do now is to actually get the bloody things….haha…especially the MG version…

Figure-Rise LABO Fumina Hoshino [The Second Scene]

Figure-Rise LABO Fumina Hoshino [The Second Scene]

Release Date: 2018/08

Estimated price: JPY 5,940* (MYR RM 218.17* / USD $ 53.36*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Oh how we all have longed for youuuuu.

Aaaaah, yes the LABO Fumina…

When it was announced and released last year, we thought that we would be seeing more LABO kits in the market. Though we know that this particular plamo/figurine kit is something like a one-off model, but we thought with the kind of reception that it was getting there still a possibility that it would inspire Bandai to make more LABO kits.

However, it seems like the retail side wasn’t as interested to move forward with this line-up since after the release of the retail’s LABO Fumina Hoshino. Though it seems like P-Bandai is picking up the slacks by announcing the Alternate color scheme for the LABO Fumina Hoshino.

Yes, you hear that right, P-Bandai announcing a new LABO kit. Which would definitely mean that this upcoming LABO Fumina variant would be rare-er and more expensive from the listed price. Then again when we think about it, the retail version is REALLY hard to get now and if you do find it being sold the possibility of getting it at the listed price might be almost close to impossible nowadays.

Which makes you think if this is the way they are planning to do with the LABO series the might as well just let the P-Bandai side take on this kit from the start.

This view never fails to get our attention.

Anyways, back to the kit.

From what we are seeing here, that there aren’t any new changes that are made to the base kit and the only thing that they changed is the alternate bikini colors for this version. From the bright colors of the original version to this dark tones of the alternate version.

Even though there aren’t any other new additions that were made here, we do admit that we are still quite impressed by what we are seeing here. To be frank, even with our knowledge of some of the LABO Fumina’s shortcomings it doesn’t stop us from wanting to have this in our collection.

Still one of the most disturbing things that they used as promotional material for this kit.

We just hope that we would be able to see more LABO kits being produced, and honestly, if the retail side isn’t interested in making another LABO kit, we wouldn’t mind if P-Bandai would take the reigns off the retail side.

God, never have we thought that we would be saying those words out loud, ever.

Anyways, moving on…

MG 1/100 RGZ-91B Re-GZ Custom (MG)

MG 1/100 RGZ-91B Re-GZ Custom (MG)

Estimated price: JPY 5,940* (MYR RM 218.17* / USD $ 53.36*)

A dream come true, in P-Bandai form.

The one thing that we don’t particularly like is some last minute P-Bandai news. Especially one that comes right after we are doing final edits and as well giving some final thoughts about all the other releases…It takes more time to discuss and write and not to mention we have to delay from publishing the post straight away.

Which is why, usually for cases like this, we would defer from talking about it up until the next edition. However, when we saw this… we really can’t help ourselves from not talking about it.

Because honestly just look at it…..

Isn’t it beautiful?

Yes, now do you understand why we can’t stop ourselves from not talking about this when one looks this goddamn good?

Even though we were quite impressed by how the MG Re-GZ Custom looked, as we looked at it we wondered which part is this taken from the 2001’s version of the MG Re-GZ?

Because, from what we are seeing here, it does seem like nothing from the 2001’s retail version was used in this version. All the new molds everywhere, the new badass gimmicks and not to mention they even used a modern fixed manipulator set too for this kit. Which again makes us think, which part of this kit that is based on the 2001’s version?

Besides its AK wielding nature, we really struggled to find things that might relate to the 2001’s retail version of the MG Re-GZ

Since we really can’t find any connection in between the two, we deduced that this kit is without a shadow of a doubt is a kit with some new molds. At first, we were quite pissed off that again we are getting a new kit under the P-Bandai banner, but then a thought hits me.

As I looked at all these new awesome things that are done on the MG Re-GZ Custom, is this a sign of Bandai telling us indirectly that we might be seeing the Re-GZ Ver.2.0 sometime soon? Well if that is the case, then that isn’t such a bad thing.

But still, fuck you Bandai for making the AK wielding Re-GZ a P-Bandai kit.

This kit has been the kit that we have always dreamed of having since seeing it for the first time in the SD form

Regardless of our feelings, we admit that this is without a doubt a kit that we are really looking forward for and from what we are seeing here the MG Re-GZ Custom does look like a winner alright.

Too bad that we need to fork out a ton for this…..but then again, as we look at it…it might be one worthwhile investment.

Especially for all of them awesome gimmicks

With that ends our 95th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this week’s P-Bandai announcements? Is there anything from this week’s P-Bandai news that you are really looking forward to? It seems like this week we are starting to see a pretty strong line up of kits coming from P-Bandai, though its a shame that MG Re-GZ Custom is coming but it does seem like that the announcement of the MG Re-GZ Custom may pave the way for us to see the future MG Re-GZ Ver.2.0 becoming a reality?

Well, let us hope that is the case. We really hope that the MG fun doesn’t just stop there.
