What a way to celebrate our 100th episode, with some P-Bandai news
HELLO! We are back!
In this 100th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be talking about a very recent P-Bandai announcement that…really caught our eyes. A very interesting release that was apparently a part of P-Bandai’s secret project.
One that we feel a bit conflicted with, because……well, let us first move on to the news and possibly elaborate about what we feel more there, shall we?
and hopefully we don’t go off into a long rant…..
MG 1/100 F-90 Gundam F90 (MG)
Release Date: 2019/08

When we all saw this news, we were honestly shocked.
Well, firstly it was because of this MG kit, like the Re-GZ Custom that we talked about a few weeks back, is a kit that was made with a whole new mold.
And Secondly, to know that this was apart of the P-Bandai secret project and not a project that was done in collaboration with the Retail side. A kit that was developed from the ground up and is using a completely new MG mold and it is not based on anything that is in existence.
We will touch on how we feel about this kit later, for now, we will first talk about this kit.
Because…… Quite honestly this kit is without a doubt one of the best looking MG kits that we’ve seen to date. Like we mentioned before, it looks like it was based on nothing that we’ve seen. But yet it still does look like it really stayed true to the look of the original 1990s 1/100 kit design with some modern details added to the whole look.
We honestly really like what they do to the look of the F-90.
However, it does seem like the looks aren’t the only thing that this MG kit had it going for, the MG F-90 as well gets alot of very interesting gimmicks here which is we imagine would improve articulation on both the body and the leg unit. The only thing that we kind of finding it strange is the fact that for an awesome looking P-Bandai kit, it’s strange that they are shying away from using the Ver.3.0 manipulators for this kit. I can understand if this is a retail kit, but a P-Bandai kit?
The MG F90, as well as alot of very interesting Hardpoints here, which at first we admit, baffles us. But after we saw the next piece, we kind of get why it needed so many hardpoints.

MG 1/100 Mission Pack Type E &Type S for the MG Gundam F90

The MG F-90 was a kit that was developed from the ground up, to carry different attachments. Yes, P-Bandai not just content with just releasing the MG Gundam F-90, they as well decided to release the first two of the many badass looking F-90’s equipment attachments for it as well.
Dubbed as the Mission Packs (Sounds like some mission DLC from some game), the Type E & S attachment is really something that we find to be quiet interesting? Because both the Type E attachment (The Electronic warfare attachment) and the Type S (The Long Range Support attachment) gets some subtle and some obvious modern changes to its overall design and role. Which we do admit that to a point we kind of struggled to find past references to the F-90’s attachments on the interwebs.
Looking at it, we can’t help to feel like P-Bandai is really trying hard to give it a more of relevance into the modern times it’s almost like they are preparing it to finally see the light of day in as an anime release or something.
Regardless we do like the changes made to the type E & S MG F-90’s attachments here. If you look at this kit and feel like only two attachments are not enough, well you are in luck because apparently, these two is just one of the F90 A to Z project, which means we would be seeing alot more separate attachment being made for this F90 MG kit. Which we do think is a HUGE undertaking if they really are heading in this direction.
To think that this is just the first two attachment from the 26 versions….we have a feeling that this MG kit might be one of the most expensive ones yet…..
In all honesty, though, this is two announcements wasn’t really something that we expected to see at all, heck we weren’t even expecting to see the F-90 being remade into the modern times. But then again since they had plans to revive the F-91 series I guess this news isn’t something that we shouldn’t be surprised with.
But what we don’t get is that….why is this being released by P-Bandai? Why the hell the retail side, not the ones developing this kit for the MG lineup? We honestly would get it if this was a project that was planned by both sides, where the retail side would release the base kit and P-Bandai would be tasked with releasing all of them sweet ass attachments.
We do think that this would be good for both the consumer and Bandai since we feel like it would raise interest in the kit and drive more people to look forward to new attachments and as well drive more kit sales.
But instead, we are seeing P-Bandai fully committed to doing this release on their own. Which we honestly would admit that this might set a scary precedent for the future MG releases. Because we wouldn’t be surprised if we would see more and more original kits being released as a P-Bandai if this keeps up.
Whatever it is, we are quite sad to see this being made into a P-Bandai exclusive kit, but looking at this…we can’t help to wonder, will this get the same treatment as the Turn Red? Where at one time P-Bandai released the MG kit on masse or will this be taking the more limited release route.
Whatever the path this kit is taking, we can’t say that we are excited for it, since we know it would most definitely get the P-Bandai tax attached to it.
Which we admit, it frickking sucks.

For the first time, we are really conflicted here and this is really not the kind of feeling that we thought that we would be going in for our 100th edition.
