The new Blue Giant

HELLO! We are back!

In this weeks Let’s Talk Gunpla 103^rd edition will be looking into one and only P-Bandai news this week. One that was actually announced alongside the RG Nu-Gundam last week, which was overshadowed by its RG counterpart.

Which is why this week we’ve decided to shed a light and focus this edition on this by now quite obscure P-Bandai HG kit.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 FD-03 Gustav Karl (Gihren’s Ambition Ver.)

Release Date: 2019/07

Estimated price: JPY 2,592* (MYR RM 94.66* / USD $ 22.82*)

When we heard of the possibility of seeing a Gustav Karl variant coming as a P-Bandai kit. We all thought that we would be seeing the Hathaway Flash’s version seeing the light of day since the movie was officially announced to be set for release.

So imagine our surprise when this version was announced instead.

Then again we shouldn’t be THAT surprised since unlike the Hataway Flash’s version,  we do think that this is much easier to convert into since all it really needed is a new batch of paint.

Yes, seriously that is what this HGUC kit is really, its just the same HGUC Gustav Karl as the retail version with a blue color scheme instead of the retail’s grey.

But despite that, it still manages to be one VERY interesting kit to look at. The new color scheme does fit the whole look really well and even though this new scheme looks less militarized then its Unicorn version but we do think that the dark blue, light blue color scheme of this version does make it look like something Rambal Ral would pilot.

in other words, yes, it still looked pretty badass.

Although the kit doesn’t really have much to offer here besides its new paint job, we do think it is still quite an interesting variant to have around. We do feel like this kit is good for those which is a big fan of the HG Gustav Karl and to you collectors.

For everyone else though….well we do admit that this is a tough kit to sell, especially to those that haven’t owned the retail version. Because when you factor in the inevitable P-Bandai tax that would definitely most likely be included in and the fact that is practically the same kit, does really makes this an even harder kit to justify getting.

But unless, if they release this version with that badass Narrative machine gun included with this particular version…that might change our minds about it.

But since it looks like it doesn’t…well….yeah. Just stick to the normal ones, it’s more less the same we reckon.
