Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.108

Hi! Ho, Silver!

HELLO! We are back!

In this weeks 108th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment we would be taking a closer look into some of the newest P-Bandai kit release announcements that were made quite recently. After the last week’s quite disappointing release announcements from the retail side, we are hoping that we would hear some decent news from the P-Bandai side.

From what we are seeing here, it does look like that P-Bandai does have some very interesting release announcements.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

Dancing in the Moonlight

This was something that we all really didn’t expect. Usually, there would be alot of all the other kits that are expecting to see being made as a P-Bandai. But a P-Bandai MG set of a recolored Turn A and Turn X isn’t really something that we had in mind when we open up the P-Bandai Japan site.

So imagine our surprise to see these two MG kits getting the P-Bandai treatment. The very first things that went through our minds when we saw this is, what is the occasion for them to turn these two existing MG gunplas into special edition kits?

Sure enough, after we did ‘some’ digging we found out why they decided to do so.

This set was made to support the currently ongoing Syd Mead Progressions TYO 2019 art exhibition that was held in the Tokyo Museum. I guess it made sense since too, these two  MS was designed by the man himself for the Turn A Gundam anime.

I have to say, these two does look pretty badass here.

Looking at this one wonders, what is done differently here over the Retail version one might wonder?

Well on the first glance, these two MG kits don’t really seem like there is anything much that was done to its overall design. Although after we did a much closer inspection we noticed that both MG kits had the Metallic Gloss injection treatment on them. Which does give it a much more shiner finish and as well make them both look really badass too.

But that is not the only awesome thing that these two has.

They were as well given a special ‘nano skin’ decals that were personally designed by Meijin Kawaguchi. Which does, we admit that it does make the already looking quite badass kits look even more badass here. Although, it does as well seem to all of us here that the special decals here are looking to be really integral for the look of both the MG kits.

All the decals here does look pretty good on the shiny MG Turn A

Although if we were to be really frank most of us here aren’t really the biggest fans of the two said MG ki, heck we would even go as far to say that we really don’t like how both Turn A and the Turn X looked overall. However, we do admit that after looking at these two recolored MG kits, it is hard for us to ignore them and not want it.

Though, looking at how much you are getting here and as well when we consider the fact that how event specific these two are… We wouldn’t be that surprised if this kit turns out to be one of the HARDEST and the MOST EXPENSIVE P-Bandai MG kits out there. Because to be really frank, this is really one kit that I don’t fans of the series and fans of Syd Mead would want to miss and whats more…

Even Turn X looks badass with them nano skin decals

We know for a fact this kit, upon release, will definitely be a scalper friendly kit.

Shiver me timbers! Is that a beautiful silver pirate I see.

Unlike the MG Turn A and Turn X event specific release, this particular MG kit isn’t really one that we were THAT surprised to see finally making its debut as a P-Bandai MG release. Why? Well, with the release of the X-2 and X-3 as a P-Bandai MG release, it kind of make sense that P-Bandai to as well adopts this version of the Crossbone Gundam into its release lineup.

But looking at how popular the kit was, it kind of makes me wonder why the crossbone  Gundam series isn’t still adopted as an anime tho. Then again the same logic can be said to the Astray series too…

Oh well…anyways…

The actual MG kit itself looks more like the previously released MG Ver.K.A X3 version, except for this version the only actual changes that were made to the kit was on the much more shinier dark grey silver-ish color scheme on the main frame of the MG kit. Though we can see that they compensated the lack anything new on the kit with some very impressive additions instead, like the unique beam weaponry set; the two butterfly buster’s and the much more badass updated version of the Muramasa buster, the Multipurpose Assault Weapon; the “Kujaku”.

We really love how the ‘Kujaku’ looks in its beam rifle mode.

Not just content with just giving it that, they as well decided to bring back something that wasn’t included with the later version of the P-Bandai MG Crossbone, the Anti-Beam Coating cloak.

Overall we do admit that we are quite looking forward to this one, although we do realize that the price of this kit when it hits retail isn’t really one that we are looking forward to. But since we are big fans of the whole series and the MS design, we really don’t mind spending money on this.

Especially when on this beautiful shiny dark grey/ silver colored Crossbone Gundam…

Honestly, we really don’t mind spending money on something that looks this badass.

With that concludes this week 108th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this week’s P-Bandai kit announcements? Are you looking forward to any of the upcoming P-Bandai offerings? We do think that this weeks segment, is a pretty interesting one from the P-Bandai chaps. There is alot here that we are quite interested to get so we can really see for ourselves on how the actual kit looked.

Though, we do find it funny that nowadays the P-Bandai offerings are more enticing to us now than the normal Retail releases… Yes, we know that the P-Bandai offerings are supposed to be more enticing for a reason. But these releases aren’t something that we would usually be THAT excited to see right after any retail announcements, which kind of speaks volume on how disappointed we are by last weeks MG announcement.

We do hope that the eventually we would get a Retail MG offering that would make us once again excited for the retail MG line-up.

Anyways, we will be back again with more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the next coming Wednesday and hopefully, this Sunday (or on Monday morning) Kimi will be back with the review or an Unboxing of a kit! So do look forward to that!
