SEKIHA TENKYOUKEN!

HELLO! We are back!

In this week’s 112th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at some of the new Retail offerings and it looks like we finally get to see the retail side announcing one HGUC kit that is slowly becoming one of the most anticipated HGUC kits for 2019, in which we are excited for.

But there is another kit that was announced, which we were more inclined towards more…and it was something that was one that we didn’t expect to fall in love so hard for…

So without further ado let us get into it, shall we?

The HGUC Beast of 2019

Ah, yes the Penelope.

Out of all the kits that we’ve talked about in this blog, none of them has a seen a proper gunpla release and yet seen alot of pretty awesome 3rd party releases all throughout the years. Which is pretty strange, when considering that there are alot of people that love the design of the Penelope.

But finally, after a long wait, we FINALLY officially get the Penelope in the HGUC form from Bandai. Thanks in huge part to the recent announcement of the Hathaway’s Flash anime from Sunrise recently…..

and my oh my it does look like we are getting a pretty HUGE HGUC kit here.

Although we have seen the ‘some’ of Penelope’s variants out there, we always thought that most of the 3rd party releases are just exaggerating the actual size of the Penelope. But that all changed when we saw the Official version.

Because it does seem like the HGUC Penelope, not content of just being the biggest and most anticipated HGUC releases this year, this retail kit is as well looking to be one of the biggest traditional kits that we have seen retail Bandai announced for the HGUC line up. We were mind blown seeing the size of this, though it might not be as imposing as the HGUC NeoZeong (both Variants) or the massively insane HGUC Dendrobium. But comparing this to the more traditional MS designs out there, this might be the biggest that we’ve seen yet.

A good looking MASSIVE HGUC kit

Even with the Odysseus version that you get after removing the Minovsky Craft Flight System, that itself looked bigger than most MS that we’ve seen and built throughout the years.

Though the sheer insane size isn’t the only thing that we are taken by when talking about this AWESOME kit. You as aswell have the HGUC Penelope’s awesome looks. The details that are seen on the HGUC Penelope is just simply amazing, it almost looked like an RG kit more than an HGUC kit. We as well love all the awesome gimmicks of this impressive HGUC kit, from the INSANELY HUGE Minovsky Craft Flight System to its Odysseus Gundam look. Everything about it looked impressive.

What’s more, we can’t help ourselves to feel the Moon Gundam vibes here too with the HGUC Penelope. Looking at how much they managed to cram in here we really can’t help to reminisce on how we all felt when we saw the kit for the HGUC Moon Gundam for the first time. All in all, we do have good feelings about this kit in general.

We all here can’t help to think about the HGUC Dendrobium when we saw this

However, it is not to say that we have no concerns with the HGUC Penelope.

Because looking at the massive size, We wonder how are we able to sustain the kit on a normal Action base stand or rather…would the kit would even come with a proper specialized stand. Although, from the HGUC Penelope’s promotional pictures it does look like the Minovsky Craft Flight System comes with a stand. But can we use the same stand for the kit?

Or will the kit itself have issues standing up? Seeing that the kit might be one of the heavier HGUC kits out there, we are a little bit concerned that the sheer weight and size might compromise the HGUC Penelope’s ability to be able to sustain itself without a stand present.

We like the fact that the kit comes with a stand for the Minovsky Craft Flight System, but we do wonder if the same stand can be used to hold the whole thing?

These are the things that we are concerned about when seeing this awesome kit. But despite all of that concerns, we are still quite excited to see more of it and seeing how all of the newer HGUC kits has been, we really think this is as well will be one that will blow our minds for sure.

Plus it as well is hard to imagine that an HGUC kit that has an MG Price tag to not be good.

hmm, what a lovely looking beefcake God Gundam this

Remember when Bandai made the Beefcake Astray? Well, now it seems like Bandai is on a Beefcake roll because now they decided to give the God Gundam the same Beefcake treatment. With another kit coming for this line that looks like this we are starting to think that the High-Resolution kits are just beefcake factories.

Although to be honest, it’s not like that is a bad thing. Because out the Astray and this, we think that they did a better job in converting the God Gundam into the Beefcake version compared to the Astray. Why? Well, Unlike the High-Resolution Astray, we actually love how the High-Resolution God Gundam looked.

Looking at how awesome this kit looked, it made us wonder why isn’t this done sooner? since the God Gundam is definitely one that we would say perfect for this ‘Beefcake Treatment’, especially considering how the anime is…a testosterone-fueled male melodrama epic. Which we all here in the Homebase…LOVED.

How can you not love this awesome looking thing

So when we all saw this, we all were really excited about the release of this amazing kit.

We do like the way they design some of the High-Resolution God Gundam’s features, the fact that they are going with very human-like design on its armor pieces does make the God Gundam looked really unique compared to the other iterations of it that we’ve seen throughout the years. Frankly, as we looked at it we feel like the High-Resolution God Gundam looked more like a guy in a gundam suit than an actual mecha.

From the promotional pictures as well it does look like the High-Resolution God Gundam has pretty amazing articulation. Seeing the inner frame pulling off some insane poses, makes all of us here really excited with the thought of fiddling with it. But we do admit that looking at it does makes us wonder if you can still pull off this insane pose with the all the armor pieces installed?

Though we do have a feeling that the armor pieces would limit the poses that you can pull with this kit. But it would be nice if Bandai would find a way to not make the armor pieces get in the way of doing all of that insane poses.

10624138a4
Although we kind of doubt that with all its armor on that the God could pull this off. But we do admit that this is one impressive pose

But even with that said, we all do admit that we really LOVE the look of this. We would go as far to say that if the G-Gundam anime was to be remade today, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were to go with this design. Because judging from what we already know of the anime, we really do think that this beefy look really fits well with the anime.

Overall, we think that this is looking quite promising. Out of all the High-Resolution kits that we’ve seen coming from Bandai, this is the only one in the line up that has managed to turn all of us into a believer of it. Even though the price for this insanity is really steep, but we do feel like this might be the one that we can really justify getting.

We guess the call of the beefcake is just too much for us to ignore….this time…

I heed the call of the beefcake God Gundam
