Hey, you look quite familiar…
HELLO! We are back!
In this week’s 114th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we are going to again be taking the time to talk about this weeks gunpla release announcement from the….P-Bandai. But what we are going to be talking about today isn’t an HG, RG or MG kit release announcements, but instead, we will be talking about one particular P-Bandai SD kit release annoucement.
So without further ado let us get into it, shall we?
SD Legend BB Shinsei Dai Shogun (SD)
Release Date: 2019/11
Estimated price: JPY 4,730* (MYR RM180.21* / USD $43.82* / EUR €39.07*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Frankly, when I saw this being announced in between all the other P-Bandai SD Legend BB re-releases I thought that this is was just another re-released SD kit. But after doing some more reading and some more intense digging, I do find this to be not the case at all because this is, in fact, a totally new kit.
Well, to be more precise this 2019 Legend BB Shinsei Dai Shogun is the much more improved version of the 2003 SD BB kit of the same name apparently. Yes apparently SD’s as well had their Ver.2.0, who would’ve known, eh?
But instead of giving it the Retail Treatment? they instead decided to give this revamped version of the SD kit…P-Bandai one.
So that does definitely mean that it would be an SD kit that is hard to get and expensive as heck.
But do we all think that this is going to be one SD worth getting? That is a hard question to answer because from what we are seeing here, it does seem to us that this kit had a pretty major upgrade over the original. Firstly let us talk about the looks, unlike the 2003’s version the new 2019 P-Bandai version looked alot more detailed and well defined compared to its older counterpart.
It was so detailed to a point where you can tell what MS design that they decided to use for the base design for this SD kit. We do think that P-Bandai did well with the redesign of the SD Shinsei Dai Shogun here because it did manage to raise our interest into getting this kit. A feeling that we do admit, isn’t something that we normally would have with SD kits.
Another thing that we were impressed by is just how good the parts were here, especially the gold parts. Though we are not a big fan of the gold bits, however, we do like how the gold parts for this SD Shinsei Dai Shogun looked. The sheer details and how awesomely everything here is shaped and molded does make the kit look insanely appealing.
Though we do as well admit that looking at how much gold there are in this, we are as well quite worried about all the bad nubs that we might encounter here.
Despite the kit getting a pretty good revamp on its looks, but it doesn’t seem as well that they deny it of all its previous gimmicks. So yeah you can still turn it into a horse/MS hybrid thing still with this version.
So if you are into that kind of thing, well don’t worry P-Bandai has yo back.
We are honestly very impressed by what we are seeing here, and though we are not a big fan of this kind of SD line up. But we do admit that we are starting to be a big fan of this. We have a feeling that we might get this if we ever come across it…..
Which brings us back to the main question that we asked earlier if this is a worthwhile SD kit to get.
Frankly, we do think this is a good kit to get for those that have owned the original version and want to have an updated version posed side by side with your original 2003’s version. As well it is good for you gunpla collectors, seeing that this is definitely not going to be a common kit.
But for the rest of us? Well….. we do think that asking price is a little bit too much, especially for an SD kit and as well considering there is so much more awesome retail and P-Bandai kits out there.
You’d really be better off waiting for the next insane P-Bandai kit to come around the corner, and looking at how things are at the moment, we don’t think P-Bandai will ever be running out with ideas to release insane looking kits.
With that concludes this week 114th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this week’s P-Bandai release announcement? Are you looking forward to this upcoming SD P-Bandai offering? We are aware of all the insane new P-Bandai offerings that just came to light. But we figured we wanted to take sometime before we get there, and just shed some light towards this P-Bandai SD release and just take the time to talk about this.
It is quite nice to take things down a notch once in a while.
Anyways, we will be back again with more Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment on the next coming Wednesday and hopefully, this Sunday (or on Monday morning) Kimi will be back with a Review for the RG Crossbone! So do look forward to that!
