Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.134

There is quite a few of SD’s to talk about this week

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 134th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We will be again be taking a look at some more of the recently announced retail side’s Gunpla announcements. After taking about the two major ones a few days back, it is time for us to cover more of the other releases today.

Well, today we would be more focused on some of the SD side of the announcements.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

When a tease of a kit looks like the ‘guess the pokemon’ segment

Yes, let us start this SD only segment by talking about this particular SD line-up.

We here thought that after the launch of the SD Cross-Silhouette line up of SD kits, we thought that all future SD kits will only see the SD-CS release. Even when we heard rumors of this, we thought that oh it would be interesting to see the first SDCS collab kit.

But we were wrong because they decided to instead release this collab kit under the SD line that we thought that was dead…yes they decided to give the Hello Kitty x Gundam kit the

SD EX-Standard treatment.

Apparently, when they were making the quite ridiculous collab promo anime, they as well made plans to release actual gunpla based merch to celebrate this unholy union.

Yes, as you can tell, we are not exactly a fan of the mouthless demon cat.

Regardless, we do think that this particular SD release is one interesting one because they are releasing this particular kit under the SD EX-Standard banner. A line up of kits that we thought was dead after Bandai started releasing the SD-CS kits.

Although you might be surprised to read that, the SD EX-Standard Gramps wasn’t the one that we think is interesting here with this release. Oh no no, the SD EX-Standard Hello Kitty that is included here with this set is what we are most interested in.

Surprisingly, this is not the highlight of this particular release

We thought they would just have gone through the easy way and just have it just have a body and a detachable head so you can attach it to the SD Gramps body. The fact that this kit comes with a proper stand and ‘some’ articulation does make us quite impressed with the fact that they really go all out here in making this look….somewhat decent.

Looking at the cat it does make us think about doing a custom job in probably making it look like a hello kitty Acguy. Though we do wonder to ourselves here if they have plans to as well have this cat be turned into an MG form? It would be interesting to see an MG version of the mouthless devil being posed side by side with the white devil.

This is

Which we do admit is one that we would LOVE to see being made.

SDCS Earthtree Gundam [SDCS]

SDCS Earthtree Gundam [SDCS]

Release Date: 2020/02

Estimated price: JPY 1,020* (MYR RM 39.82* / USD $ 9.49* / EUR € 8.64*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
The better version of the Earthtree Gundam

The Earthtree Gundam maybe not one that we here think is impressive as an HG release, but as an SD Cross Silhouette release? We here think that the SDCS Earthtree might be one that we all here think is one of the most impressive things that we’ve seen to date.

Well, there are many reasons for this, for one the SDCS release of the Earthtree doesn’t look as weird as its HG brethren. It had a much more conventional (which we liked) look here compared to its HGBD version. Which we d find it to be quite strange to find an SD kit looking alot better than the HG kit that it was based on.

What’s more, even as an SD form…you can still be able to pull off the same de-armor gimmick here (which turns it into the midget ‘core’ gundam version), just like what we see with the HG version. However, unlike the HG version, we like the Core Gundam look, it looks cute and we all here really think that it made more sense to see it in this form compared to what we get with the MG form.

This made more sense to us to see compared to what we see with the HGBD version

Frankly, all of us here do find ourselves adoring the SDCS version of the Earthtree, it looks badass in the SDCS form and for once the gimmicks of the Earthtree look alot more sensible as in an SDCS. Which in turn does make us think about why Bandai doesn’t just have the Earthtree be designed and made into an SDCS kit from the start.

But then again, it may not appeal to the mecha anime fans that much to have the SD to be the main protagonist’s main machine. So that may explain why we are still seeing a fairly normal-looking machine that is used here. But if they are thinking of continuing on this ‘build’ series, we do hope that they would make the next main protagonist use an SD MS.

Seriously this made more sense to us to see as an SDCS form then its HGBD form

It would definitely be something interesting to watch indeed.

SDCS MS-06S Zaku II Char Aznable Custom (SDCS)

SDCS MS-06S Zaku II Char Aznable Custom (SDCS)

Release Date: 2020/02

Estimated price: JPY 680* (MYR RM 26.55* / USD $ 6.33* / EUR € 5.76*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

The last SD retail release announcement that we will talk about here, is another SDCS kit that is one that we have been waiting for a long time to see being released right after we’ve seen the release of the normal Variant Zaku II’s SDCS release.

The Char’s Version of the Zaku II.

You would think that for something that is one of the most popular MS of the MSG anime would see a release right after the normal variant. But after seeing that they as well released a few more things in support of this particular release. We kind of get why they waited a bit for this kits release. We will get to that on next week’s segment, but for now, let us talk about this particular SDCS Zaku II variant shall we?

To those that are already quite familiar with the recently released SDCS Zaku II, you will find this version to be more less of the same kit even with the same types of equipment to be included with this SDCS kit.

All of the same familiar weapons that you’ll get with the normal Zaku II variant to be included here.

The only thing that differentiates this over its green cousin is, in fact, its beautiful red and pink char color scheme. Although we do admit as we all looked at this glorious SDCS kit, we do wonder if the kit would as well come with Custom char decals?

Whatever the case maybe this is probably one that we would be looking forward to getting, and since kimi is a big char fan, he prolly has this already included in his want list for 2020.

This is definitely one that he wouldn’t want to miss

With that concludes today’s 134th  edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this retail release announcements? Are you looking forward to these upcoming SD Retail kit releases? We are really impressed with all the SD releases this time around from the Retail side. It’s not every day that we open up the SD segment to find a lineup of kits that we are really interested to get.

Even the SD release is looking to have a very interesting 2020 release and we have a feeling that we would be seeing more interesting ones coming our way soon.

Anyways, we will be back again with more gunpla news on the next coming Wednesday and as well on the next coming Friday! Kimi will be back again in this Monday with an Unboxing or a review of a kit. So do look forward to that!
