In today’s 137th edition of Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will continue to take a look at some of the other interesting P-Bandai kit announcements from last week. There is still alot to talk about today, however, we as well have one new kit that was just announced from P-Bandai which is coming from the famed Ace Pilot Log team.
So without further ado let us get into it, shall we?
RG 1/144 MS-06R-1A High Mobility Zaku II Uma Lightning Custom (RG)
Release Date: 2020/01
Estimated price: JPY 3,630* (MYR RM 139.82* / USD $ 33.41* / EUR € 29.96*)

Seeing how popular the Uma Lightning is becoming in the Gundam fandom (With the help of the MSV: R Manga), it really makes sense for the P-Bandai side to release an RG kit based on the Uma’s colors under the Ace Pilot Log P-Bandai kit line-up.
Although we do admit that we find it strange that the retail side is still not releasing their version of the RG Zaku R1 since we do think that it would easily make money for them. However, remembering the fact that there is still lot of old RG frame that is still present here…I think it’s better off they don’t. Well, that is until they release a Ver2.0 version of the RG Zaku II that fixed all the annoying bits of the old kit.
Anyways, enough of that depressing talk, let’s talk more about the kit, shall we?\
Looking at it closely, we all here all agree that this RG Zaku II variant is without a doubt is a looker. We do think P-Bandai did a pretty damn good job here with the Uma’s Zaku II color scheme and decals. Because, god we all here were salivating of the thought of seeing this sexy kit in our bedroom beside all the other Zeon monoeye beauties that we have in the homebase.
Even though yes there is nothing new seen with this version in terms of weapons and types of equipment, but yet it still manages to make all us here salivating with the thought of getting it. Even with the fact that we already know that it would definitely be a kit that would be something of a mixed bag.
But then again, who wouldn’t want to have a beautiful looking RG kit like this?
RG 1/144 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex (Narrative Ver.) (RG)
Release Date: 2020/04
Estimated price: JPY 12,760* (MYR RM 493.86* / USD $ 117.81* / EUR € 105.92*)

After seeing the release announcement for the limited edition Gold plated RG Unicorn Gundam recently, we all here knew that the Phenex version will come eventually to the P-Bandai RG line up.
So we aren’t that surprised to see the P-Bandai side to announce the RG Phenex, However, we are instead quite surprised to see that they just decided to just not beat around the bush and just release the Narrative’s version of the Phenex straight away. We really thought that they would release the normal Phenex first before the Narrative so they could maximize the milking.
Regardless, we are quite glad to see them started off with this version of the RG Phenex because it does indicate to us here that they might just settle with this. Maybe we are not the only ones that are starting to have Unicorn fatigue, maybe the chaps in the P-Bandai side might as well starting to develop it too.
As we take a closer look at the RG Phenex, it as well clear to us that this looked like how we all already expecting it to look like. Using the same Gold color scheme as we’ve seen with the Gold plated version of the standard Unicorn and as well using instead the Blue clear psycho-frame instead of the gold that we see with that version and of course with some minor tweaks made to this version, which is seen on the head fin piece of the RG Phenex and as well with the addition of the shield tailpiece which is unique on the Narrative’s Phenex.
Admittedly we all here do think that this RG Phenex does look great, but just like many of the RG Unicorn variants that we have seen here in the blog, we don’t expect that the experience of building this to be any different than all the other variants. Although we are quite interested in seeing how the Shield tail-piece would work here in RG form.
However, the only thing that might stop us and possibly the rest from getting this is when you take a look at the price for one of these. For something that is a little more just another RG Unicorn with shinier parts and a bit extra bits here and there, its quite hard to justify getting this at that PG asking price. Yes, one can argue that the shiny bit is what makes it expensive, but when you consider the JPY 12,760 price tag is not included with the inevitable P-Bandai tax. You kind of see why most of us here might be a bit turned off by the idea of getting this insanely expensive RG Unicorn.
HG 1/144 OZ-06MS Leo (Full weapons) (HGAC)
Release Date: 2020/01
Estimated price: JPY 2,310* (MYR RM 89.41* / USD $ 21.33* / EUR € 19.18*)

Ever since we have built the HGAC Leo last year, we have been looking for a really good reason to go back to building one. Although P-Bandai has been releasing the HGAC Leo variants, here we have been struggling to find any of the retailers here carry any of the said variants of the P-Bandai HGAC Leo.
However not it seems like we may not have to do that. Because P-Bandai just announced that they would be bringing all the weapons and types of equipment that we see with all the other versions of the P-Bandai HGAC Leo Variants into one set, the HGAC Leo with its complete weapons set.
This might be the best news that we have head from the P-Bandai side this week, because now we have a damn good reason to get this and aswell more HGAC Leos. Since it does come with a very large library of unique weapons sets.
What’s more, for something that they could just as easily just release it as an expansion pack, we were quite impressed by P-Bandai. Because they actually included in here one normal HGAC Leo unit together here with the set. We do think its a great start to those thinking of building an army of HGAC Leos at their disposal since it would lessen the need to get one if one just wanted to have one or two HGAC Leos and we as well think it would make those that are on the fence on getting this, be interested in getting this since it does come feature complete.
We are really looking forward to this, and it is really nice to finally have a real good reason to go back to building more HGAC Leos.

Regardless, we here do think that so far we are seeing a pretty strong line-up to next year’s Gunpla releases. Although, we have a feeling that Both the P-Bandai side and the retail side may still have something special in their sleeves that they haven’t yet announced yet.
