Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.162

Let's Talk Gunpla Vol.162

The kind of reaper that we would love to get

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 162nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will continue to take a look at two P-Bandai Gunpla announcements. One of the announcements that we are going to be talking about is about a kit that was announced quite late on the day that we published the last Let’s Talk Gunpla segment of that week and another kit that we are going to cover is a new P-Bandai MG kit which was just announced today.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

The P-Bandai HG Origins kit that we are looking forward to seeing more of

Finally, we get to talk about the last-minute ‘surprise’ entry from last week. We do admit that eventhough we have seen the kit revealed during the Gunpla Next Expo last year, but we didn’t expect is to see P-Bandai releasing the release date for this kit this soon. We really thought that they would want to announce it somewhere next month.

But regardless of that, we do admit that we are quite glad to finally see this getting an actual release date. Not to mention too, we are as well quite glad to be able to learn more about this P-Bandai HG Origins MSD kit.

We here find it funny that we are more excited about this HG Origins Zaku variant than the HG Origins Gundam.

After taking a closer look at it, if we were, to be honest? We are starting to really dig this version of the HG Origins Zaku. There are just so many things that was done here that we love and as well we would admit that is REALLY different compared to anything that we have seen coming from the HG Origins Zaku Family.

Looking at this does make us wonder if Bandai is teasing us of the possibility of seeing the Z’gok sometime soon? Why you may ask? Well, that is because of this.

That looks like something taken from the Z’gok

Yes, if looking at that doesn’t make you think of the Z’gok leg joints…we really don’t know what more to say, because it does look like it was taking inspirations from the Z’gok. But admittedly some of us here do think that this does make the Zaku look really strange and we can understand why some people might be turned off by this, especially when one sees that the Zaku Desert Type knee guard stuck to the joint like that.

But even with that, we all here still think that the rest of the kit does look really good. We can’t imagine people looking at this (while ignoring the leg joints, of course) and not want to get it. Even those here that wasn’t a fan of the Zaku Desert Type knee design would admit that they would still get the Desert Type just because it still looked quite good overall.

Honestly, why wouldn’t you be?

Why wouldn’t you want this badass Zaku II variant?

From its ‘Desert Type’ color scheme which we here do think to be quite on point, to its new head, backpack unit, weapons, chest, and joint (some of them anyway) parts which we are all here a fan of. Coupled with the already awesome, badass existing design of the HG Origins Zaku II really makes this to be one of the best looking variants of the famed Zaku II for this HG Origins line-up.

Even with the P-Bandai tax slapped on it, we all here feel that this is still a worthwhile purchase and one that we here feel might be the one to help bring the Z’gok to the HG Origins line up.

A great many things (ugly knee included) in this version of the HG Origins Zaku II

Which we all here really hope makes it as a Retail release.

The variant of the Deathscythe that managed to convert us into a fan

This was a surprise to us.

We know, we said that a lot here in this blog. But frankly, this is really one news on a kit that we really didn’t expect to see. Yes, there were some rumors floating out there of the possibility that we would see a new W Gundam MS variant made into P-Bandai MG. But when we heard that we all here thought that we would be hearing news on the Snow White Wing Gundam being made into P-Bandai MG kit.

However, instead of us getting that we instead got something alot better, the MG Rousette Deathscythe Gundam. One that we all here starting to believe is the best looking Deathscythe variants that we have seen to date. We believe that this is what would happen if one decides to install the wing part from the Wing Gundam to the Deathscythe, creating this, a badass looking Deathscythe.

No longer looking like an MS wearing a Halloween suit. This is looking more like something that we all here find to be an MS that we would LOVE to pilot if it was ever to be made into a reality

As we take a closer look at the MG Rousette Deathscythe, we realize that there aren’t really any major changes or additions made to the main body of the MG Deathscythe, well except for some parts of the MG Deathscythe’s backpack unit. Well obviously since it was made to mount the wing unit on the Deathscythe’s backpack unit, so yes it made sense on why there are changes made to the MG Deathscythe’s backpack unit.

Speaking about the Wing unit, eventhough the wing unit might look like it was taken from the Wing Gundam’s, but after we all take a closer inspection on it we realize that it isn’t based on anything that we have seen from any of the MG Wing variants. Yes, we do admit that it does share ‘some’ elements of the Wing here and there, however it doesn’t seem to work the same way as the Wing Gundam’s wing unit. Because for one, it doesn’t open itself the same way as the Wing’s wing unit and secondly, the Wing Gundam’s Wing unit only comes with one mode whilst the MG Rousette Deathscythe’s… well you can actually turn it into different forms.

The many different forms of the MG Rousette Deathscythe wing unit

So yeah, this kit comes with a pretty different and dope Wing unit.

As you can already tell, yes we are slowly becoming a huge fan of this particular variant of the MG Deathscythe and the funny thing is, we here were never a huge fan of the Deathscythe. So in a way, you can say they really did a pretty damn good job in creating this version because now they managed to create a few more new fans of the Deathscythe.

After seeing this, the Liaoya Shenlong and the Igel Heavyarms, we are really really getting quite interested to see what more interesting MS variants from this Wing Gundam series that P-Bandai would be churning out. We have a strong feeling that this is not the only thing that they have in mind and they still have more interesting ones that they will be releasing in MG form, soon enough.
