Taking a look at a P-Bandai Exclusive Robot Spirits Figure

In today’s 165th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at the P-Bandai JP side again, however, this time we will take a look at one of their P-Bandai exclusive Robot Spirits mecha figure.
Which is based on one of our favorite MSV Zaku II variants.
So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

When we all saw this announcement we are sure that this is the Robot Spirits Mecha figure that we are sure that alot of fans of the Shin Matsunaga’s version has been waiting for, ever since the release of the retail’s Black Tri-Stars version of the Zaku II R-1A in Jan 2019. Ironically it took exactly 1 year after the Black Tri-Stars version’s release for Shin Matsunaga’s version to finally see the light of day….as a P-Bandai Exclusive.
Although admittedly after taking a look at it we do wonder why it took Bandai this long to make this since all they really had to do here is just re-release a recolored version of the same Robot Spirits Figure.
Regardless of that fact, we do admit that eventhough it may share the same fundamental look and characteristics of the Black Tri-Stars version of the Zaku II R-1A, but we do admit the white/light grey color scheme of the Shin Matsunaga’s custom looks really good here. Not to mention too that this as well comes already attached with a set of Shin Matsunaga’s signature custom decals, which looks really good on this P-Bandai Exclusive Robot Spirits <SIDE MS> Figure.
Eventhough we do admit that it sucks that this is locked away to be a P-Bandai Exclusive Robot Spirits Mecha figure, but looking at it one can understand why they decided to do so since it is technically just a recolored version. But it sucks for the fan of this version since it does mean that this is going to be one that is hard to find, and at the same time, we know that the insane P-Bandai tax that would be slapped on this is definitely going to be brutal to the same fans.
From the looks of it, it does seem to us that Bandai is planning to as well release a Robot Spirits <SIDE MS> Johnny Ridden’s Zaku II R-2. Although seeing it for retail is highly unlikely, we still do hope that Johnny Ridden’s version gets a regular retail release.
Because it would be a damn shame if the famous red Zaku II R-2 didn’t get that.
