Coming back to talk about some more Gundam Mecha Figurines
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 181st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at one very interesting retail side’s Mecha Figurine release announcement that was made a few weeks back. However, we won’t be covering P-Bandai, instead, we would be talking about one new release from the Retail side. Although we here are quite aware of the fact that most of you here have probably have known about this one quite well by now. But since this is one news that we here find to be quite interesting we do want to take the time this week to just talk about it.
So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

When we saw some of the P-Bandai’s offerings in this department last week, we thought then that they are really going all out on their effort in trying to dry everyone’s wallets up. Never in our wildest dreams that we thought that retail would do the same.
But today we all here learned that, well maybe the retail side can be a bit bonkers when it comes down to drying our wallets, because man, this might be one that we all here could see that manages to be even MORE expensive than whatever it is that the P-Bandai side was offering.
Although after taking a much closer look at it, we can understand why they are charging so much for this…Why? Well for one…it does look quite good.
Which we do find quite strange, since, when we take a closer look at it for the first time, we really can’t find much difference between this to the earlier retail release of the Metal Build Freedom Gundam. But only after taking quite a while to look at it, we do find subtle changes here and there that was made to this version.
So you might be wondering, what is new that is done here that makes this version different compared to the first release of the Metal Build Freedom Gundam? Well, let us first talk about the aesthetic changes that was made on the newer version, because even though the changes made to the looks are quite subtle. But we here do feel like the design changes do make the new Metal Build Freedom Gundam Concept 2 look a tad bit more aggressive when compared to the earlier version.
What’s more, we here as well feel like some of the design changes that was made do take some inspiration from the MG Ver.2.0 design of the Freedom, which can be seen on the design of the Metal Build Freedom Gundam Concept 2’s “Xiphas” Railgun. We as well noticed that Bandai used the ‘RG style Color play design’ here, which does mean that they used 2 color tones of the same color family to really make the Metal Build Freedom Gundam Concept 2’s design to look really good, and lastly we as well noticed that the design of the decals is as well alot different when comparing the two decals, to the earlier release of the Metal Build Freedom Gundam.
Other notable changes that we learned is from observing the new version’s articulation. The changes that was made are a bit subtle but do make for quite a bit of improvement over the older version. When we take the time to compare the two from we can see that yes it does look like the new version had better articulation on the head unit and the arm when compared to the old version. Which does enable it to have more variation on its posing ability.
Even with that said, even though the changes done here is something that we are a fan of, but we don’t see ourselves getting this one. Unless if you are a HUGE fan of the series and happens to have alot of money, we here don’t think that most people would be able to pick this one upon release due to the INSANE asking price. This is quite a shame because we know for a fact that there is alot of you out there that looks at this while drooling at its looks. Why do we know this? Well, that is because we are as well doing the same thing as we all sat down here drooling together at how awesome this looks.
Although looking at this we can’t help to feel like we would be seeing China ‘3rd party’ version of this to be out as soon as Bandai releases this one. Which is something that we are quite frankly will not be surprised with if that is really the case.
