Work in Progress I – RG 1/144 Gundam EXPO ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam (RG)

Back in orange

As you all may have already known, I’m a big Destiny Gundam fan. Ever since I did the unboxing and first impression post for this kit, I have been looking forward to this day for a long time. So yeah, you can imagine how excited I was when I popped this one up.

But even with that said, I’m not really expecting to find myself to be mind blown by this, since…well…it is basically is just a recolored retail RG Destiny kit.

Buuuut, at the same time, I know some of you here are quite curious to know of my thoughts on this, so without further ado, let me now write about my thoughts on my current progress, shall we?

The one thing that I do find to be quite strange is that even though I’m already quite familiar with this RG kit since this might be the 3rd time I’ve built an RG Destiny, that I still find myself to be having a lot of fun working it. Although after taking some time to think about it, I do feel that may be attributed to the fact that this might be the very first time that I decided to work on applying decals on it while at the same time work on the RG Destiny’s parts. Another plus point of me taking the time to work on the Decals is that it does help me to realize something. That I really need to practice applying them better. Because admittedly, I do find myself not to be particularly…good at it at this point in time. But you know what they say, practice makes perfect eh?

Another thing that I realized through my time working on the RG kit, is that eventhough the RG Destiny leg unit might not look as impressively detailed internally as its much newer counterparts. But I sincerely believe that the RG premade inner frame system that was used on this RG Destiny is probably one of the best that I’ve worked on so far. Not to mention the RG Destiny design still looked as good here as it does on the Retail Version.

Since all of this is a day’s worth of work done, so there isn’t much for me to really report on at this time. Although as expected, I do find my overall building experience of this Gundam Expo version of the RG Destiny so far to be almost reminiscent of the time I’ve spent on the Retail Version of the RG Destiny last year.

But the one thing here that I do find to be quite interesting on how better prepared I’m mentally coming back to work on this RG kit. The experience I’ve earned from working on the Retail version really helped to make the parts that I worked on for this Gunpla Expo version to look alot better. Another thing that I realized as well while working on this is that since I have already familiarized myself with the building process of the RG Destiny, the progress this time is a lot faster then I anticipated it to be. Even with the time spent working on decals considered in.

So if everything goes well this week and the next, I really wouldn’t be surprised to see this kit being completed somewhere by this or next week. But then again, I shouldn’t be jinxing it, especially in these dark times.

Anyways…..

With that ends this week’s first Work in Progress post for the RG 1/144 Gunpla Expo ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam Heine Westenfluss Custom (RG). What do you think of my thoughts on the kit and how the RG kit looked so far? Did you experience the same things that I did? Or did you guys find out things that I didn’t on my run here? I really had a blast here, eventhough I do find through the time spent that this Gundam Expo RG Destiny variant may be quite familiar.

Although I’m not expecting to be surprised by this Gunpla Expo RG Destiny variant, I do however expect to be entertained by the time I spend here. In which by now you have already known that I’m quite entertained by it and I do expect that to continue all the way to the end of the line.
