Why is this P-Bandai again?
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 185th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about one particular new P-Bandai announcement that was made recently. Which we here were kind of quite surprised to see. Especially when we heard about all the extra measures that was taken by the government of Japan to curb the ever-increasing threat of the COVID-19.
Which we are quite concerned by, yes. But we were more surprised to see something that has been released as a Retail kit, getting that P-Bandai treatment this time ’round.
So, without further ado, let us now get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 RMS-099 Rick Dias (Quaattro Banjeena custom)
Release Date: 2020/08
Estimated price: JPY 2,090* (MYR RM 84.47* / USD $ 19.46* / EUR € 17.82*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
When we here saw how awesome the P-Bandai’s HGBD: R Gamma Gundam looked, we here were kind of expecting to see the retail side to be picking this one up. It makes perfect sense for the Retail side to do that since they have already released the Char version as a regular release before, right?
Because instead of doing that they instead have their P-Bandai side release this kit. This is a decision that we all here don’t understand why they decided to do so with this fan-favorite version of the HGUC Rick Dias kit. Because we here would understand if they decided to do that for some obscure MSV Z Gundam MS or something that is generally obscure. But not for something that actually plays a key role in the whole Z Gundam saga.
What irritated us more is when we see what was done here, because obviously from what we can already see here that this P-Bandai HGUC Quattro’s Rick Dias is definitely is the vastly improved version from its retail variant. Yes, there are quite a few changes that we see here that was made to the kit, like for one its articulation.
Because thanks to the HGBD: R Gamma Gundam, this version inherits all the awesome articulation that we see when it was revealed back in October 2019. Which does mean that this kit does have an increased articulation from the arm and leg unit, better upper thigh movements due to the changes made to both the to the HGUC Rick Dias’s leg unit mold and the fact that they replaced the fixed pegs on the waist HGUC Rick Dias unit to the modern standard, moveable pegs?\
However the articulation isn’t the only thing that is improved here, there is as well the matter of its looks. Because we here can see that they as well made some improvements to the aesthetic of the kit. Like for an instance, they finally added more detail to the shoulder armors of the P-Bandai version, where it was just a black spot on the older retail version. They as well changed the design of the P-Bandai version’s HGUC Rick Dias’s arms unit vents, where it does look more well designed here.
Looking at how vastly different this kit was when compared to its retail counterpart, we can’t imagine this news is something that fans of the Rick Dias would be happy to see. Especially considering that this kit might not be accessible to most of you out there upon release.
But even with that said, we do admit that we are impressed by how this newer P-Bandai version looked. After spending all of our COVID-induced free time staring at it does make us quite curious about how both the retail version and the updated P-Bandai version would actually compare when you put them side by side?
That is a prospect that we all here are really looking forward to discovering if the kit ever makes its way over here.
With that concludes today’s 185th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this P-Bandai Gunpla release announcement? Are you looking forward to this one particular P-Bandai Gunpla release? Looking at this particular release being made into P-Bandai, it does make us wonder if we would at the very least see the retail version gets mass production version? Or will that as well be locked as a P-Bandai release?
Let us hope that we are getting the mass production version as a regular release.
