The familiar and somewhat interesting releases for P-Bandai
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 193rd edition Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to look at some of the other new P-Bandai releases that we haven’t managed to cover on the Thursday segment here in the blog.
Interestingly enough the kits that we are going to be covering about today are kits that, kind of already seen release in some way either as a P-Bandai release or as a Retail one.
So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam X-1 Full Cloth (HGUC)

Release Date: 2020/08
Estimated price: JPY 2,530* (MYR RM 102.40* / USD $ 23.59* / EUR € 21.87*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the circumstances

The first thing that we thought of when we saw this being listed was, didn’t already see release as a retail release?
Yes, you are correct, we have.
Although, the X-1 didn’t technically get that mainline HGUC release, because as you may have already known it saw release as an HGBF release. So we do feel it kind of made sense that we are now finally getting the Full Cloth version of the X-1 as a proper HGUC release. Unfortunately, as we have already mentioned at the start of this segment, we aren’t getting this version as a retail release.

But even with that said, there are minor changes that was made to this version over the GBFT version that would separate the two apart. Like for an instance, there are a few color changes made to the HGUC version of the ‘Full Cloth’ here and the other obvious change here is that they decided to use normal plastic instead of the coated ‘pearled’ look of the GBFT version.
While the rest of the kit looks just like its HGBF GBFT version, so we assume that that the whole experience of building this ain’t going to be any different than to what we get from the HGBF GBFT version.
So if you are fans of the X-1 Full Cloth but is not a fan of the pearled look of the retail GBFT version, you may want to consider getting this one. Although be warned that this is definitely going to be a much more expensive kit, not to mention, it’s going to be quite a pain in the bum to get.

But we here do find it quite funny that the ‘normal’ version is getting the P-Bandai treatment, while the coated version gets the retail treatment. Why is that funny? Well because normally it’s the other way around.
Somehow rather we can already hear a certain Alanis Morissette song playing in our heads right now.
MG 1/100 RGM-179 GM II (A.E.U.G Colors)(MG)

Release Date: 2020/09
Estimated price: JPY 3,850* (MYR RM 155.99* / USD $ 35.90* / EUR € 33.32*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the circumstances

This particular announcement was one that we here took quite a bit to digest. Because as you all have already known, we here aren’t a big fan of the P-Bandai’s MG GM II kit. For those that have been our long time readers, knows of what we think of this kit.
But if you are new and do not know what we are talking about, well you can read Kimi’s review of it here, and you will get why we don’t have such a great opinion of it.
Regardless of our feelings of it previously, the thing that makes the prospects of getting this even worse for us here is that from what we can see, it doesn’t seem like the kit had anything improvements done to it or have anything new done to it.

It’s basically just the same kit, but with green instead of Red color scheme used here on the kit instead.
But despite all the things that was said and done, we admit that the MG GM II is still a really good looking kit, and we really think the green/white color scheme compliments the look of the GM II well here.
However, admittedly this is a kit that we do find ourselves a bit conflicted by because we are a fan of awesome it looked but at the same time because of our experience with the MG kit, we aren’t that enthusiastic about getting it.

But nevertheless, we still think that it is a very interesting release, and looking at this does make us wonder if they have plans to have it in the ‘Titans color scheme as well?
With that concludes today’s 193rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of all of these P-Bandai Gunpla release announcements?
