It looks like the retail side isn’t the only ones with subpar announcements

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 198th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at some of the new P-Bandai’s new kit announcements that was made last week. 

Which is mostly comprised of kits from the HG lineup and disappointment.

So without further ado, lets us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 Eldora Windam (HGBD: R)

We here find it to be quite interesting to see, that it didn’t take long for them to create the HGBD: R version of the Windam right after the HGCE Windam’s release. Its almost as if the HGCE Windam was made just at the sole purpose for them to create this HGBD: R kit.

But unlike most of the new HGBD: R gunplas that have been released and the upcoming ones, this might be one of the ugliest re-designs that we’ve seen coming from this HGBD: R line up. 

Because there is, honestly? Alot to loath about this kit, from the horrendous head, chest, and shoulder armor re-design of the Eldora Windam, to its lazy equipment designs. This was one of those kits that we do wonder why it gets the green light at all from the P-Bandai side.

The more we spend our time staring at this kit the more we started to feel like the Gundam Build Divers design team just got lazy in redesigning the Eldora Windam into something memorable. 

But even with that said, it is not to say that this kit doesn’t have any redeeming qualities. Because even though we are not a fan of the top half of this kit, but we are a fan of the more subtle design changes that was made on the Eldora Windam’s feet units and its awesome color scheme.

Seeing some of the subtle but awesome changes that was made here, it does make us wonder why the same design philosophy that was given to the legs isn’t applied to the rest of the kit.  

Out of all the HGBD: R kit redesigns that we’ve seen made, this is one of the worst HGBD: R redesigns that we’ve seen, thus far. Somehow rather I can understand why this is getting the P-Bandai treatment. 

Because even they know that this is not going to sell well. 

HG 1/144 OZX-GU01A Gundam Germinass 01 Assault Booster & High Mobility Expansion set

This was another piece of P-Bandai news that we were quite impressed by how quickly they announced it. Especially considering that the HGAC Germinass 01 was just released a week ago. 

But then again, seeing how fast they announced the Eldora Windam, we shouldn’t be that surprised. 

Anyways, we here do think that P-Bandai did a tremendous job in designing the HGAC Germinass 01’s expansion set. Because just like the HGAC Germinass 01 all the new equipment, the Assault booster unit, and the High Mobility unit looks as good and as detailed as the HGAC Germinass 01 itself.

Not to mention, it does look like you can easily swap the equipment on a fly to the HGAC Germinass 01. But the most impressive bit here we feel is the fact that it doesn’t look like all these new additions hamper the articulation of the kit at all. But the more we spend time looking at how big some of the new equipment is, we are a bit concerned about the weight distribution.

But that is not the biggest concern that we have of the kit if we were, to be honest. Because after hearing and seeing more of the P-Bandai Germinass 01, I don’t think many of us here now is as excited to get the kit and this expansion.

Why? 

Well from what we can see here, it does look like P-Bandai didn’t do a good job in designing some of the HGAC Germinass 01’s arm unit mechanisms. Some of the joints look flimsy and worryingly weak, which does make us wonder if the HGAC Germinass 01 joints could even sustain all the extra weight that would be applied to it when you install all the new equipment on it.

That is why we are not as enthusiastic about the kit now, which is a shame, because we do think that both the HGAC Germiass 01 and its expansion set looks freakking amazing.

Although yes, we do admit that the reveal of the HGAC Germinass 01’s Expansion set is quite awesome. But after seeing some of the reviews of the HGAC Germinass 01 kit, it automatically manages to make us feel as excited for it now.

Which does manages to bum us out quite badly now…
