Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.202

It seems like Bandai went all out insane this week

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 202nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll be taking the time to talk about all the new P-Bandai release announcements that was made yesterday.

From what we can see here, it seems like most of this week’s P-Bandai Gunpla release announcements that we are getting here are just expansion sets for existing MG kits.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

MG 1/100 Gundam Barbatos Expension set (MG)

Release Date: October 2020

Estimated price: JPY 3,410 (MYR RM 136.03* / USD $ 31.78* / EUR € 28.26*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

This isn’t something that we are not all that surprised to see being announced for the P-Bandai side, but even with that said, we now finally understand why one of our local Gunpla stores had alot of the MG Barbatos in stock recently. Because we here have been wondering why that the MG Lunamaria’s Zaku Warrior is still not in stock but we are seeing an abundance of MG Barbatos’s in the market.

It made sense, now because we have a feeling that Bandai knows that to most that have built the MG Barbie might be finding reasons to build another MG Barbie, and now they finally have a damn good reason to do so.

Or we might be wrong, because it could as well be because the kit was in high demand, due to how awesome it is that is why alot of the retailers had it in stock?

No matter what the reason may be, we do admit that after seeing this announcement it does gives us here all a good reason for us to get a few more MG Barbatos.

Because why not? Especially considering that for this expansion part set included almost all the necessary parts to convert your existing MG Barbie (or a new one) from 1st form variant to the 6th form variant of the Barbie.

So if you have any versions of the Barbie that you prefer to have in your collection or if you are thinking of just displaying all of the forms at one time, well do not worry because this expansion set has all the necessary parts for you to do so.

But that is not all, they as well included an ‘assembly required’, working TK-53 CGS Mobile Worker kit in the MG Barbie Expansion set. Which we here admit looked freakking amazing! They even went as far as to include all of the ‘CGS’ version’s weapons and equipment for the Mobile Worker.

But admittedly, we do find it quite strange that even though the did include parts for the MG Barbie to be converted to the 5th form, but there are no promotional materials that showed the MG Barbie in its 5th form equipment. Which we do admit worries us a bit that it may not work as well as intended.

Regardless, we are starting to be quite excited about this upcoming expansion set release, and we do sincerely hope that this is going to be a great addition to the MG Barbie when it is out in this coming October 2020.

MG 1/100 Gundam F90 Mission Pack O Type and U Type

Release Date: September 2020

Estimated price: JPY 2,200 (MYR RM 87.76* / USD $ 20.50* / EUR € 18.23*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

This is another expansion set coming for the P-Bandai side that we are quite excited about when we all saw it for the first time.

Although our reasons for our excitement for this particular release wasn’t because the new expansion parts looked cool, no. It was because some of the new parts that was included in the set here that made the MG F90 looked…well…stupidly bonkers.

You might be wondering, which specific F90 Mission Pack that we are talking about here? Well, that would be the U Type mission pack that is included here with this expansion set.

To be honest, we all here had a good laugh after we all saw the U Type mission pack for the MG F90 for the first time in its gunpla form. It looks so ridiculously stupid and insane, that we can’t imagine anyone looking at it and not react the same way that we did. It looked so ridiculous up until it came to the point that we here just find ourselves falling in love with it.

Quite frankly, this is the kind of crazy that we have been waiting to see from the P-Bandai side, and we sincerely hope that this kit would do well enough to encourage P-Bandai to keep churning out more weird-looking gunplas for all us here to consume.

But as ridiculous as the U Type upgrade that is included here looked, it is not to say that is the only selling point of this expansion set. Because to balance out the weirdness, P-Bandai as well included the badass looking O Type Mission pack upgrade.

Even though the upgrade doesn’t look as insane or as excessive as the rest of the MG F90’s mission pack upgrades, but it is one of the best looking upgrades that we’ve seen.

We love the subtle changes made to the F90’s backpack unit and we are as well a fan of the new beam rifle that is included here with the set.

Yes, it might look a bit plain when compared to the O type upgrade, but at least it helps to even out the insanity.

Because it is not every day that you get to see your gunpla turns into a huge flying dil….well you get what I mean.

Regardless, we do look forward to the future of this particular P-Bandai line up to see what other weird F90 upgrades that P-Bandai might have in store for us all here.

With that concludes today’s 202nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of these P-Bandai gunpla release announcements, and are you looking forward to all of these P-Bandai Gunpla releases? Again, we are seeing some awesome parts expansions from the P-Bandai side and to be honest, it was nice to see P-Bandai showed us their very sensible side and their bonkers side all at the same time this week.

It’s nice for us to be able to read something from P-Bandai that manages to make us smile like an idiot for once.

Anyways, we will most definitely be back with a new Gunpla related post in this coming Saturday. So do look forward to that!
