Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.227

 A shiny Freedom

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 227th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about one very fascinating and recent P-Bandai gunpla release announcement. But, what makes this announcement to be quite interesting is the fact that it’s an announcement of a recolored version of an existing RG kit.

So without further ado, let us now get into it, shall we?

RG 1/144 ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam [Titanium Finish] (RG)

Release Date: January 2021
Estimated price: JPY 8,250 (MYR RM 324.29* / USD $ 77.85* / EUR € 65.94*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

When we all saw this particular announcement, we were not all that surprised to see it released as a P-Bandai release. Especially considering that we’ve seen the RG Destiny getting the same treatment, so yeah, it makes sense for us to see this getting that P-Bandai treatment.

However, even with that said, we are quite impressed by the RG Strike Freedom Gundam [Titanium Finish] specs after both taking the time to analyze its promotional pictures and reading through all its promotional materials.

Why?

Well, that is because, from what we learned after going through its promotional material and pictures, that this RG Strike Freedom Gundam variant comes with three different coats for its parts. The three different finishes that this RG Strike Freedom Gundam comes with was the titanium finish for most of the RG Strike Freedom Gundam’s armor and gold finish for the RG Strike Freedom Gundam’s inner frame. Finally, for RG Strike Freedom Gundams red, grey, red, and blue runner parts, they settled on the metallic color.

This combination of colors does make the RG Strike Freedom Gundam look legit badass. Because even though we’re not huge fans of the Strike Freedom Gundam, but since they did a splendid job with the RG Strike Freedom Gundam [Titanium Finish] color scheme, this might the first Strike Freedom Gundam kit that we might consider getting.

However, just like the RG Destiny [Titanium Color), P-Bandai decided to not to include the Full Burst Effect parts together with this version of the RG Strike Freedom Gundam. Yes, you heard us right, P-Bandai still insists on selling both the effect part and the kit separately. Honestly, that is something that we don’t understand why considering this isn’t the first iteration of the recolored P-Bandai RG Strike Freedom Gundam?

Regardless, we do think that this is a badass looking RG kit. One that we feel that most of the fans of this MS design wouldn’t mind getting, and one that could make non-fans like us interested in getting one.

It’s just that we kind of wish that P-Bandai would consider making life a little bit easier for us all sometimes.

Anyways, that concludes our 227th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Actually, after spending time with this particular announcement, we do feel like we should first give the Retail version a go before committing all of our money on this.

At the very least, then we would know if this is worth getting, but then again, the RG Destiny is a pretty awesome RG kit. Maybe this would be as well?

Regardless, what do you guys think of this P-Bandai Gunpla release announcement after reading our thoughts on this and as well after seeing more of it?
