Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.232

For the first time, we are more excited for some SD releases than the MG.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 232nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will finally be taking the time to talk about some of the other very recently made retail release announcements. Since there are alot here for us to cover, we will start first by talking about a few retail release announcements that we’re excited about getting.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

SD Gundam EX Standard RX-93 v Gundam (SD EX Standard)

Release Date: December 2021
Estimated price: JPY 510 (MYR RM 20.16* / USD $ 4.88* / EUR € 4.15*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

When we saw this SD EX Standard announcement, we were honestly quite shocked by it.

The reason for that is because we honestly thought that Bandai would shift all their focus in releasing all of the upcoming SD design under the SDCS lineup.

But apparently, that isn’t the case here.

Yes, we should’ve seen the signs when they decided to release the Hello Kitty x Gundam collab kit under the SD Ex Standard lineup here instead of the awesome SDCS. But we thought it was a one-time thing.

Regardless, this isn’t a bad thing since we do like this cheap SD EX Standard series, and wouldn’t mind getting it since they are a joy to build.

So, what do we think of the announcement for these two new SDEX Standard releases after we take the time to look at them?

Well, let us first talk about this, the SD EX Standard v Gundam.

Quite frankly, we are quite surprised at how good the SD EX Standard v Gundam looked. Yes, we are quite aware that most of the pictures that we see here are some very early CG Illustration of how the upcoming SD EX Standard v Gundam would look. Not to mention, we are as well quite aware that this will be a kit that will require alot of sicker use on it.

But even despite knowing all of that, we admit that we still find that this SD EX Standard v Gundam looks badass. So badass in, fact, that we do not mind that we had to deal with the stickers when we eventually get it.

But its handsome looks aren’t the only thing that this SD EX Standard v Gundam had going for it. There is as well that weird backpack and weapons combination gimmick that it has, where you can combine its weapons and backpack into this weird thingamajig.

Yes, it does look weird and silly, but we love it.

But Bandai knows that releasing just the SD EX Standard v Gundam isn’t going to cut it. That is why they as well decided to release this:-

SD Gundam EX Standard MSN-04 Sazabi (SD EX Standard)

Release Date: December 2021
Estimated price: JPY 510 (MYR RM 20.16* / USD $ 4.88* / EUR € 4.15*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

The SD EX Standard Sazabi.

Yes, Bandai didn’t waste any time and just outright announced the SD EX Standard Sazabi at the same time as the SD EX Standard v Gundam. That is something that we here appreciate seeing since it would mean we didn’t have to wait long for the SD EX Standard Sazabi to arrive.

And just like the SD EX Standard v Gundam, the SD EX Standard Sazabi as well looks badass.

We are quite impressed by how they managed to make both the SD EX Standard v Gundam and the SD EX Standard Sazabi look this good. Yes, admittedly, we are aware that all of this badassery might not reflect well in the actual product, since we know that the SD EX Standard kits usually will use alot of stickers for most of its parts. But just like the SD EX Standard v Gundam, we find ourselves not minding it as much.

Not to mention, just like the SD EX Standard v Gundam, the SD EX Standard Sazabi as well comes with a unique gimmick, where you could convert the SD EX Standard Sazabi’s shield unit into the Sinanju’s badass Beam Saber/Shield hybrid. Yes, admittedly, even though it might not be canonically accurate (just like the gimmick seen on the SD EX Standard v Gundam’s), but it does look cool on the SD EX Standard Sazabi.

It is quite clear that we are looking forward to getting these two SD EX Standard kit releases. These two SD EX Standard releases do look quite promising, and we can’t wait to see more of it when we do have it in the Homebase.

Anyways, that concludes our 232nd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. I know some of you here would be wondering why are we talking about two SD EX Standard kits instead of the newly revealed MG Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.K.A?

Well, if we were, to be honest with you guys? We are more excited about these SD EX Standard kits than that MG kit. Plus, we did mention at the start of this segment that we would be mostly talking about the retail releases that we are most excited about, so, yeah.

But, worry not, we will talk about it in the next upcoming segment for sure.

Regardless, what do you guys think of these Gunpla release announcements after reading our thoughts on this and as well after seeing more of them? We do look forward to reading and replying to all of your thoughts on these Gunpla release announcements. So don’t be shy to write on your thoughts and feelings in the comment section below.
