Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.237

Finally, we get the TR-2 Bigwig, but on a 1/400 scale

HELLO! We are back!

In Today’s 237th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking one last look at P-Bandai one No-Grade AoZ kit announcement made at the same time as all the other P-Bandai HGUC AoZ kit that we missed.

Why? Well, it could be because of its title since we try to avoid talking about reprinted kits, but after going through it, we realized how much of an error we made there.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

NG 1/200 & 1/400 Advance of Z Reprint Model Kit Set. (No-Grade)

Release Date: February 2021
Estimated price: JPY 2,200 (MYR RM 87.01* / USD $ 20.89* / EUR € 17.84*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

When we took our time to go through this particular announcement properly, we would admit that we found this to be quite a fascinating announcement.

Why?

Well, that is because we remember seeing these released individually with each copy of the Hobby Dengki magazine some time ago. We assumed because of the increased interest for the Advance of Z kits, that is why P-Bandai decided to re-release this under the P-Bandai banner.

What makes this even more interesting is that, instead of having to release just one kit at a time, P-Bandai just decided to lump everything under one release.

So what AoZ MS you get included in this set here?

Well, you would be getting the:-

  • 1/200 RX-121-1 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel Custom]
  • 1/200 RX-121-2 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel II]
  • 1/400 NRX-044(R) Prototype Asshimar TR-3 [Kehaar] Space Type
  • 1/400 YRMS-106+BL-85X Bi-Zack TR-2 [Bigwig]

Yes, the list of things that you get here is quite impressive, not to mention the badass looks of all the kit listed too. What’s even more impressive is that P-Bandai decided to as well upgrade the original PS material that all of these kits made from into a much stronger KPS plastic. So we would expect that this would hold up much better compared to its Hobby Dengki counterparts.

As impressive as all of this was, one shouldn’t be too attached to its promotional pictures, because these kits that you see here doesn’t come fully colored.

Yes, there is alot of work that we need to do to make sure that these kit look as good as its promotional materials. Well, that is assuming you already have insane painting skills to be able to do it in the first place. Because due to its small size, we do think that not everyone would be able to make it look as good as its promotional material, especially if you are still new to painting kits.

Another thing that one should be aware of if you are interested in getting this set is that some of them might be just a static display kit. So if you are thinking of getting this because you wanted something is poseable, well, these kits might not be it.

Regardless, we are looking forward to getting these kits because we are huge fans of the AoZ series, and not to mention, these would make for a good kit for us to practice our painting skills as well.

Anyways, that concludes our 237th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Despite our interest in this, we are aware that this set might not be something that we would consider to be a beginner-friendly kit. Because the skill levels needed to make this look at least decent is something that we feel might not be something that most beginner builders would be able to take on.

So we would only recommend this to those with decent painting skills. Because we feel like this would be a bit too much for a beginner to take on.

Regardless, what do you guys think of this P-Bandai No-Grade AoZ announcement after reading our thoughts on these? We do look forward to reading and replying to all of your thoughts on this P-Bandai No-Grade AoZ announcement. So don’t be shy to write on your thoughts and feelings in the comment section below.
