Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.238

Now The cat comes in an SDCS form

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 238th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about some of the other Retail Gunpla release announcements that we missed. Yes, there are still a few more kits that we haven’t managed to cover, but they’re mostly kits from the SD line up and some support builder parts for the HGBD: R kits.

But instead of talking about all of them in one go, we will first cover the SD kit line up before moving on to the HGBD: R ones in the upcoming segment.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

Ever since the reveal and release of the SD EX-Standard version of the Hello Kitty x Gundam, we were wondering when we would see Bandai do the SDCS Version of this cute collaboration kit.

Ever since the reveal and release of the SD EX-Standard version of the Hello Kitty x Gundam, we were wondering when we would see Bandai do the SDCS Version of this cute collaboration kit.

Well, our wait is finally over, because Bandai now finally decided to release the SDCS Hello Kitty collaboration kit. However, with this particular release, there is a catch, where the first SDCS Hello Kitty collaboration kit wouldn’t be another Gundam, we would be getting a Zaku version of the Hello Kitty SDCS kit instead. We here suspect that maybe the reason why they didn’t start with another SDCS Hello Kitty x Gramps it could be because this year we have been getting too many Gramps variants. So Bandai may want to start if off a bit differently here with the SDCS.

So what are our first impressions of it after seeing the promotional materials for this release? Well, if we were, to be honest? We are quite taken by it.

Because quite frankly, we think the new Hello Kitty Zaku head unit looks both cute and badass. So badass that we are looking forward to getting it as soon as it’s out in this coming December.

But as you can already tell, Bandai didn’t just settle with the standard variant, no. Because they as well made this.

SD Gundam Cross Silhouette Hello Kitty/MS-06S Zaku II Char Aznable Custom (SDCS)\

Release Date: December 2020
Estimated price: JPY 2,215 (MYR RM 83.53* / USD $ 20.11* / EUR € 17.08*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Yes, they even had a Char version of the SDCS Hello Kitty x Zaku II.

Just like the Standard version, this as well looked quite impressive. The Hello Kitty x Zaku head unit looks as badass here as it is on the Standard Zaku II.

Honestly, this is something that we are not particularly surprised to see, considering they the standard version already gets the ‘Hello Kitty’ treatment.

Admittedly there isn’t much difference in between this and the Standard SDCS Zaku II since they do share the same molds. But what makes this different than the other is mainly due to its color scheme. The difference as well was seen in the Hello Kitty kit that comes together with either version of the SDCS Zaku II kit.

Because the standard version comes with a green color schemed Hello Kitty while the Char’s version comes with, well you guessed it, red color schemed Hello Kitty. It’s a nice touch done to increase its appeal to both fans of the Hello Kitty series and collectors alike.

That is why we are looking forward to seeing and getting both of them in this coming December.

Anyways, that concludes our 238th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We might not be huge fans of the Hello Kitty franchise before, but we have to say that both Bandai and Sanrio did a pretty good job in making us quite hyped-up for this kit.

We here do wonder if we would eventually see Bandai move on to release the Hello Kitty x Gundam to other series like the HGUC or the MG line up? Because it would be interesting to see an RG version of the Hello Kitty x Gundam Grandpa.
