Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.243

The return of the Guitar wielding badass, in orange.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 243rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about some of P-Bandai’s new Gunpla release announcements. Interestingly enough, it seems like we might be looking at one P-Bandai release that may make some subsection of fans of this hobby a bit mad.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 Extreme Gundam Type Leos Eclipse Phase (HGEXVS)

Release Date: March 2021
Estimated price: JPY 2,970 (MYR RM 116.89* / USD $ 28.17* / EUR € 23.82*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Out of all the P-Bandai announcements that we’ve seen to date, this is the one P-Bandai release that would that makes some segment of the Gundam gaming community quite mad.

Well, if you are one of those unfortunate enough that recently purchased the Gundam Extreme Versus Maxiboost On Collectors Edition for the limited edition kit, well, P-Bandai decided to make your purchase of it a bit pointless. Because now they decided to release the same HG kit as a standalone P-Bandai release.

So for those that spent around RM 500 TO RM 700 (Around USD 120.67 to USD 168.94) to get that collectors edition version of the game for that special limited edition HGEXVS kit, we all here do feel for you guys. Because what’s the point of releasing this version of the game if you are going to release the same kit as a standalone release anyways? Especially when you consider that the Collectors Edition version of the game is quite expensive.

Regardless, we don’t think it is not technically all that bad. Because we here do feel that both the Collectors Edition version and the P-Bandai version does have one key difference that would separate it from each other.

That would be its color scheme.

Yes, if there is one saving grace to those that have bought the collectors edition would have, is that the P-Bandai version comes in its ‘correct’ color scheme. While the Collectors edition version comes in the 10th Anniversary colors (a.k.a the original Extreme Gundam color scheme). So, technically we would say that there is a good reason for one that has owned the Collectors Edition to want to get this one as well.

But alas, the color scheme is, unfortunately, is the only thing that is the only selling point for one to get this kit. Because the rest of it is pretty much is the same thing. So if you’re a fan of the Extreme Gundam but don’t want to invest in getting the Collectors Edition version of the Extreme Gundam Type Leos, well, you could wait a little bit longer to get this version instead.

Oh, speaking of color changes on your HG kit…

HG 1/144 RX-78-05 Gundam Unit-05 “G05” (HGUC)

Release Date: March 2021
Estimated price: JPY 2,475 (MYR RM 97.41* / USD $ 23.48* / EUR € 19.85*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Now, this, however, is a different story altogether when we compare it to the HGEXVS kit that we talked about earlier.

Well, ever since the release of the HGUC Gundam “G04”, we here have been expecting P-Bandai to drop the news anytime after the release of the HGUC Gundam “G04” kit. So we are quite glad to see that we finally did get the announcement of it within this year.

So, what do we all here think of the HGUC Gundam “G05” after spending time to take a closer look at it?

Honestly? We are quite impressed by it.

Yes, we do admit that this is just our first impressions of it, and it may change as soon as I start working on it. However, we do feel like even those that don’t like the idea of getting this as a P-Bandai release would admit that they would love to get this HGUC kit if it gets that regular retail release. Why?

Well, because this HGUC kit is quite a handsome HGUC kit, and we commend P-Bandai’s design team in making this something that we all here would love to get.

So what is so unique about this kit, in particular, you may ask? Well, besides its Red/black/yellow/white color scheme and the badass look inherited from HGUC Gundam G04, the thing that made this kit quite fascinating to us here is its unique Giant Gatling gun. Because we here do think that design-wise, they managed to make the Giant Gatling look badass here. We as well love the mechanism that the P-Bandai design team did here with this, which does make us quite interested to see how all of this would work in real life.

We are quite excited about getting it and seeing how everything works here. Honestly, we are looking forward to seeing more of it as soon as it releases next year.

Anyways, that concludes our 243rd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. A very pretty fascinating P-Bandai release line this is. We here personally are looking forward to getting the HGUC Gundam “G05”, however, we are a bit unsure of the HGEXVS Extreme Gundam Type Leos, but we do admit that kit does look quite badass in itself.

Anyways, we will be back again this coming Saturday (hopefully) with more Gunpla/ Gundam merch related posts for this blog. So do look forward to that :D!
