MG Gunpla EXPO 2020 goodness.

HELLO! We are back! 

In today’s 246th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will continue where we left off from the previous episode to today’s post. But since there are still quite a bit of Gunpla releases to talk about, we decided to focus on the confirmed MG releases for today’s segment. 

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

(P-Bandai) MG 1/100 ORX-013 Gundam MK-V (MG)

Honestly, out of all the announcements from the Gunpla EXPO 2020 Tokyo that we are most baffled by, this might be one of those that manages to take the cake here. 

Because out of all the MS designs from the Gundam Sentinel series that you could turn into P-Bandai, the Gundam MK-V isn’t the one that we could never imagine that would be getting that P-Bandai treatment. 

Because like the EX-S, we thought that we would get the Gundam MK-V released as a regular retail release somewhere in the future. But no, it looks like P-Bandai has first dibs here. 

But regardless, at least we are still getting it. 

But enough with that, so what do we think of this MG kit after spending time staring at it lovingly?

Well, for one, we do think that it does look quite impressive overall. 

From its very menacing looks, its badass weapons, and its beautiful color scheme, we do feel like there is alot to love here and to be honest, we are looking forward to getting it.  

But what we here do find quite surprising is that, despite this being a P-Bandai release, it does look like the MG Gundam MK-V is getting a lot of love from the P-Bandai MG Design team here. Because judging from the level of detail that we could see here, it does seem like they’re putting a lot of effort into making something extraordinary for all of us here.

Plus, it does give us all here hope that we would see the Doven-Wolf and the Silver Bullet getting that MG retail treatment. 

Or we would see both of them getting the P-Bandai treatment as well.

MG 1/100 MS-09B Dom / MS-09R Rick Dom (MG)

Admittedly when we saw this revealed with all the rest of the announcement, we admit that we were pretty excited about these two MG kits at first. But after seeing more of it, we do find it quite hard to see what is new here. Because initially, we can’t see anything different when we compare it to the older version. 

But after really spending time doing some research on this MG release, we do find that the changes made to this new version of the MG Dom / MG Rick Dom to be quite subtle. 

For one, we here learned that this newer version of the MG Dom / MG Rick Dom comes with the ‘Emotion Manipulator SP’ system, the same manipulator system that you get with the MG Grandpa Ver.3.0. Oh, we as well found out that the P-Bandai MG Dawdage got the same manipulator system as well.

Which brings us to the second thing that we learn about the upcoming MG Dom / MG Rick Dom, that the new ‘upgrades’ that they are talking about might be something that owners of the recently released P-Bandai MG Dawdage may have seen first hand. Because we suspect that the manipulator system isn’t the only thing that the P-Bandai MG Dawdage shares with the Upcoming MG Dom / MG Rick Dom, they might as well share the same joints system.

That is why, after seeing more of this, we do not think that this MG kit is going to be the new ‘Ver.2.0’ version that some of us here was expecting to see. More like the MG Dom / MG Rick Dom, will just be getting that Ver.1.5 treatment instead. 

Yes, it is pretty disappointing, but to be honest? We would still get it regardless of the fact.

(P-Bandai) MG 1/100 F90 Gundam F90 Unit 2 (MG)

With the reception that the P-Bandai MG 90 is getting, it is to no surprise to us all here that P-Bandai would eventually release the Unit 02 variant of the MG F90. 

Aka, the BEST MG F90 variant.

But all joking aside, honestly, there isn’t anything much to talk about since it is clear that this is just a recolored MG F90. But unlike the rest of the reveals that we’ve seen, the MG F90 Unit 02 is the only one that we can roughly estimate how much it would cost. 

Exactly the same price point as you might expect with the Standard MG F90. 

But despite this being more and less the same P-Bandai MG F90 kit, we do admit that the color combination of purple, white, yellow, and red does go well with the 90s Mecha design of the F90.

To be perfectly honest with you guys, we here do lean quite heavily into the thought of not waiting for P-Bandai to release the ‘complete’ edition of the MG F90 and get this one first. 

Just because of how much we all here are in love with the MG F90 Unit’s looks. 

And that is ok with us.
