Now let’s talk about the Gunpla EXPO HG reveals
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 247th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll continue where we left off with the last Let’s Talk Gunpla post to talk about all the HG reveals that we’ve seen made in the Gunpla EXPO 2020 Tokyo event.
So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 GAT-02L2 Dagger L (HGCE)
HG 1/144 GAT-02L2 Dagger L (HGCE)
Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: JPY TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Honestly, we were both glad and excited about this particular reveal.
Why?
Well, for one, we are quite happy to see Bandai continue to release more badass SEED Destiny Grunt MS design, and seeing the rate that they are going here, we won’t be at all surprised if we would see them release the HGCE version of the ZAFT ZAKU series sometime soon.
And secondly, to be honest, we do like what Bandai did here with the overall design of this HGCE Dagger L.
Simple but yet a badass
Because it’s basic design are what we here are a fan of, and from the looks of it, it looks like that it might come as what you see here.
No Doppelhorn Striker.
No Jet Striker.
That is the only thing that we admit is a bit of a disappointment if we were, to be honest.
We are most excited to see if the Dagger L would be able to mount all the existing HGCE Striker packs.
However, seeing the absence of these two striker packs leads me to believe that we might be seeing these two striker packs sold separately as an expansion set by P-Bandai. Or we would be seeing them included together with the Dark Dagger L P-Bandai release.
Either way, we have a feeling that P-Bandai would most definitely have its mitts on the two Striker packs as a separate release.
But even with that said, we are still looking forward to getting this HGCE regardless.
HG 1/144 XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe (HGAC)
HG 1/144 XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe (HGAC)
Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: JPY TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
With the recent release of the HGAC Heavyarms, it is not a surprise to all of us here to see Bandai revealing the upcoming HGAC Deathscythe.
But the thing that we honestly didn’t expect is for it to look this good.
Honestly, even though we have seen a lot of Deathscythe variants released in the wild, but this is by far our favorite rendition of the God of Death MS.
Yes, even though in terms of design, it follows more closely to its anime counterpart, but somehow the Bandai design team still managed to make it look amazing.
Sexy on the front and as well from the back
But the looks aren’t the only thing that we here are quite impressed with the kit. There is as well the matter of its gimmicks. Even though there isn’t a lot of details on this HGAC kit for now, however, after we spent time going through all the HGAC Deathscythe promotional materials, we would admit that the gimmicks do look quite promising.
Although, we do admit that we are quite curious about how HGAC Deathscythe joints would be able to handle dealing with the HGAC Deathscythe HUGE Beam Scythe. Because we here do think that kind of weight of its beam Scythe may ruin the joints of this HGAC kit a bit. So admittedly, this is something that we are quite curious to see on how well this kit would be able to handle wielding that beam scythe long term.
This is one HGAC kit that we all here are looking forward the most to get.
Hopefully, we would be able to see more of it soon enough.
HG 1/144 AS-G-56 Gundam Gremory (HGIBO)
HG 1/144 AS-G-56 Gundam Gremory (HGIBO)
Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: JPY TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
The HGIBO Gundam Gremory is probably one of those MS designs that had none of the usual gundam features that one might expect to see on something that is not gundam.
Heck, when we first saw it, we thought it looked more like a 30mm kit more than a Gunpla kit.
Regardless, the one thing that we all can agree to here is the fact that this IBO MS design is by far one of the best looking ones from the series that we’ve seen to date.
If the front of this kit looked awesome, the back looked even better.
Honestly, looking at all the badass side MS coming from this series does make us wonder why there isn’t any new IBO related anime series made still up until this day.
Anyways, so what do we think of this kit after spending time staring at it for a long time?
Well, as you can already tell, we are quite a fan of this MS design. We here do feel like Bandai did a pretty badass job here with the overall design of this HGIBO kit and as well its color scheme.
Although we honestly can’t help to feel like this is a much more badass version of the Gundam Deathscythe, the more time we spend time staring at it.
Which does make us look forward to the day that we get this. Why? Well, so we could finally pose this together with the upcoming HGAC Deathscythe.
So we can put a caption underneath saying that this is IBO’s Deathsycthe variant.
HG 1/144 MS-06 Zaku II (HGAC)
HG 1/144 MS-06 Zaku II (HGUC)
Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: JPY TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
With the recent release of the updated HGUC Chars Zaku II, it is to no surprise to anyone that we are as well will be getting the regular variant of the Zaku II.
But honestly, we were expecting Bandai to release the HGUC Zaku II version just like how they did with the MG Ver.2.0 kits, where they released two different variants of our favorite green mono eye MS.
We were hoping to see the F & J Zaku II variants in HGUC form
But we should’ve seen the signs when they released the HGUC Char Zaku II because they didn’t add the additional verniers on the HGUC Chars Zaku II’s leg unit.
You might be wondering why we are bothered with Bandai not releasing a different variant of the Zaku II for its HGUC version?
Well, that is because when we first laid eyes on this updated version of the HGUC Zaku II, we all here think that this looked more like its MG Ver.2.0 counterpart.
Disregarding the bad paneling job here, it is this pose that made the updated HGUC Zaku II looked like its MG Ver.2.00 counterpart
It looked so similar up to the point that we as well could even clearly see all the different segmented parts for each of the separate sections of this HGUC Zaku II kit that almost match the ones that we’ve seen with its MG Ver.2.0 counterpart.
Honestly, we are quite impressed by how they managed to scale down and further simplify the MG Ver.2.0 design and applying that here with the HGUC Zaku II. Looking at all this awesomeness does help to make all of us wished that we’ve gotten the newly released HGUC Char’s Zaku II now.
Since it is honestly is the closest thing that we could get for now to the upcoming HGUC Zaku II.
Anyways, that concludes our 247th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. As you can already tell, there are still a lot more Gunpla kits reveal that we didn’t manage to cover here. So, the next ones that we will be covering are the ‘still in the prototype phase’ kit and, one, RG reveal that we missed during the Gundam EXPO 2020 Tokyo event’s upcoming Gunpla kit reveal. So do look forward to that!
Anyways, we will be back again this coming Thursday (hopefully) with more Gunpla/ Gundam merch related posts for this blog. So do look forward to that :D!
