The MS with the coolest name finally gets a Gunpla treatment.
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 251st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla Segment, we will be finally be taking the time to talk about that one HGUC Gunpla EXPO 2020 Tokyo reveals that we…deliberately missed so we all can focus on discussing for today.
Why?
Well, that is because it was one of those releases that we all here do struggle with because we here do have some conflicting emotions about this release. That is why it took us so long to get to this.
Anyways with that out of the way, let us now get into it, shall we?

Estimated price: JPY TBC

Honestly, this is an HGUC reveal that we all here weren’t really at all surprised to see. Because with the announcement and release of the HGUC Penelope, we all here thought that we would eventually be seeing its sister machine revealed in Gunpla from sometime later.
However, we here do find it quite strange that it takes this long for Bandai to reveal the Ξ Gundam, considering if we were to take into account the original release of the movie. Because, let’s say if the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway movie were to be released in July this year, it would mean that we would only see a new Hathaway related merch only after half a year after that. That is something that we here find to be unacceptable.
Maybe there is a possibility that they might already have a line of kits that they have lined up that will eventually see the light of day as soon as the movie is up, and the reason why we haven’t seen any of them released is because of the pandemic.
We here do find it strange that there isn’t alot of information about new upcoming Hathaway movie gunpla releases.
But at the very least, they could’ve released something, at least, to keep us somewhat content.
Regardless, we are not here to complain about the lack of MSG: Hathaway Gunpla releases. We are here to talk about what we think of the HGUC Ξ Gundam.
Honestly, despite what we said earlier, we are quite impressed by it. Unlike the HGUC Penelope, we here do like how they restrained themselves with its overall design here. Even though it does have that Katoki Hajime level of detailing insanity when it comes down to the HGUC Ξ Gundam design-wise, but yet it manages to look quite tasteful here.
Very tasteful indeed
But, we do get why some Ξ Gundam fans are a bit disappointed with the new redesign of the Ξ Gundam here. Because even despite its badass look, the lack of variety of colors here does make the HGUC Ξ Gundam look quite blend when compared to the Robot Spirits Ka Signature version of the Ξ Gundam.
So you might be wondering if we agree with that, why then do we all here have a hard time talking about it?
Well, that is because some of us here brought up the matter of visual complexity. Because honestly, we do admit it would be pretty hard for normies to distinguish them both if they’re battling each other on-screen. That is especially obvious if the upcoming movie has alot of fast-paced combat scenes.
Tbh after spending time staring at it, we do admit that we are starting to prefer the plain look of this over the Ka Signature version.
That may explain why they decided to omit some colors out from this version. Mostly not to confuse the audience. Which we all eventually do agree that would definitely be the case if both of them spots the same-ish color scheme.
Regardless, we are all looking forward to this, and hopefully, we would be able to get both this and the Penelope in time before the movie premieres.
HG 1/144 Ξ Gundam VS Penelope Funnel Effect Parts (HGUC)

Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: JPY TBC

We were quite surprised to see the retail side making this announcement. Because usually for specific effect parts release like these, we would see P-Bandai would be the ones that’ll be producing and releasing them.
So, yeah, it is a nice change to see the retail side instead be the ones doing so,
So, what do we all here think of the effect parts?
Well, to be honest? All of us here do think that this effect parts set are most definitely a must-buy for those planning to get both the HGUC Penelope and the HGUC Ξ Gundam.
Why? Well, that is because we do think that all of these additions would most definitely make getting both the HGUC Penelope and the HGUC Ξ Gundam worth it.
Especially when you can really fully pose these two big plastic MS’s with their awesome funnels as well.
Even though there isn’t really much information on these at the time of writing, but we do suspect that the effect parts set won’t just be coming with just effect parts. We as well assumed that it may as well come with two sets of stands that could sustain the insane weight of these two kits while, at the same time, enable you to pose the kits while having them mounted on them.
We most definitely will be looking forward to learning more of this effect set as soon as Bandai makes that official release announcement for this effect set.
Anyways, that concludes our 251st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We are glad that we’ve managed to cover this bit because now we can move on to the last bit of the Gunpla EXPO 2020 Tokyo reveals…talking about all the badass SD kit reveals.
Yes, in the upcoming segment, we will only be talking about all the cute SD reveals. So do look forward to that, haha.
Anyways, we will be back again this coming Saturday (hopefully) with more Gunpla/ Gundam merch related posts for this blog. So do look forward to that :D!
