Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.257

Call me Mk-III, Gundam Mk-III.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 257th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about two very fascinating P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcements. As ever, P-Bandai manages to make us salivate to the thought of getting these two Gunpla releases.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 RX-78-02 Gundam Rollout Colors (HG Gundam the Origins MSD)

Release Date: April 2021
Estimated price: JPY 2,860 (MYR RM 112.20* / USD $ 27.63* / EUR € 22.66*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

With the release of the HG Origins Gundam, all of us here somewhat expected P-Bandai to be making that inevitable announcement of P-Bandai’s version of the HG Origins Gundam right after its release. But the thing is, we didn’t think they would take this long to announce it.

Which we admittedly were quite genuinely quite impressed with P-Bandai’s restraint in taking their time to finally making this announcement. But then again, should we be surprised, though? Because quite frankly, this year alone, we’ve already seen a lot of Grandpa variants released. So it makes sense to us why P-Bandai decided to release this for next year. They knew that we’d be rolling our eyes hard seeing them announcing another Grandpa variant.

Yes, admittedly, we still find ourselves rolling our eyes seeing this, but at the very least, this time, we would admit that gave us enough time to feel a bit excited when we hear that P-Bandai announced this.

Regardless, we admit that after spending some time staring at its promotional materials. We do like what we see here.

Seeing a white finless HG Origins Gundam, with most of the original goodness retained? Well, you bet your ass that we would spend all of our money on this.

However, there is one thing that we are quite concerned about as we all go through its promotional materials. Because we are looking forward to this HG Origins kit to come with waterslides, but after going through the promotional materials, it seems like we might be getting the same sticker based decals instead. It’s quite a shame if that is the case because we would find it interesting to see how the waterslides work on a kit this size.

But with that said, if we still won’t be complaining about it too much considering that it was still quite fun to work on and not to mention a lot more forgiving when comparing it to the waterslides.

So yeah, we would still get this one regardless.

HG 1/144 MSF-007 Gundam Mk-III (HGUC)

Release Date: April 2021
Estimated price: JPY 2,420 (MYR RM 94.94* / USD $ 23.38* / EUR € 19.18*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Honestly, when we saw this announcement made by P-Bandai on this kit, we would admit that we were quite pissed.

Why wouldn’t we be?

We thought after seeing the Mk-III makes its way as a retail RE100 release, we had hoped that Bandai would consider releasing the Mk-III as a regular HGUC release. But no. They let P-Bandai snatch this one up as well.

Seriously Bandai, can you at least let us have one good thing for once, please.

Anyways, after we spend time going through the promotional materials, so what do we now think of this release?

Well, if we were, to be frank.

We think that it looked pretty awesome. That is why we are so mad seeing this getting that P-Bandai release. Because even though it might not look as detailed as its RE100 counterpart, but to be honest, we prefer the more subdued and the somewhat bulkier look of the HGUC version more.

What’s more, the HGUC version does come with one extra Beam Rifle, which makes it immediately better when you compared it to its RE100 counterpart. Although frankly, we notice that the main beam rifle design is a bit different when we compare it to its RE100 version. Which does make us wonder if it’s carrying the same weapon? Or is it a redesign made by the P-Bandai design team?

Regardless of that fact, we would admit that we are getting to be alot more interested in getting this P-Bandai version of the Mk-III.

We do wonder if we would be able to spare some moolahs before this arrives in April.

Anyways, that concludes our 257th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Again P-Bandai continues to release more announcements of Gunpla kits that make us wish that we have more money to spare so we’ll be able to get all these badass upcoming P-Bandai kits.

Hopefully, we would be able to find more work to help us earn more money this year. Hopefully, we would have earn enough to get both of these badass P-Bandai releases in time for all of these Badass Gunpla releases.

Anyways, we will be back again the next coming Tuesday (hopefully) with more Gunpla/ Gundam merch related posts for this blog. So do look forward to that!
