Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.290

Finally, the long wait is over.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 290th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at the retail sides HUGE Gunpla release announcements! However, as our typical standard SOP, we will first cover the kits that we are most excited about before talking about the rest. So that is why today we’ll talk about the two upcoming 1/144 scaled retail Gunplas that we saw revealed back in the Gunpla Next event last year, that we finally have their official release dates.

So, without further ado, let us now get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 MSN-04II Nightingale (HGUC)

Release Date: July 2021
Estimated price: JPY 7,700 (MYR RM 293.53* / USD $ 71.23* / EUR € 59.32*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

After we spend some time staring at this HGUC release, we have to take back the statement that we said back when we saw the reveal for this HGUC kit for the first time, that this is looking to be a smaller scaled version of the RE100 variant kit.

Why?

Well, that is because, from what we see here, the HGUC version is looking like the better version of the RE100 kit. Seriously.

There were alot of pretty awesome gimmicks that the HGUC version gets that the RE100 version didn’t get. Like for instance, this HGUC variant comes with working sub arms, a bipod that works for its Beam Rifle, more beam weapons, and best of all, a much more elaborate articulation system.

And not to mention, pretty badass decals as well.

Honestly, we were really impressed by what we see here.

Oh, what’s more, from what we can see here, the level of detail almost rivaled what we see with the HGUC Moon Gundam.

Which honestly managed to excite us more for this upcoming HGUC kit.

Why?

Well, that is because this looks like a proper Nightingale kit that we all deserve to get and not a kit that would be a HUGE plastic brick in our Gunpla collection.

RG 1/144 RX-93-V2 Hi-v Gundam (RG)

Release Date: September 2021
Estimated price: JPY 4,950 (MYR RM 188.70* / USD $ 45.79* / EUR € 38.14*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

The RG Hi-v Gundam, unlike the HGUC Nightingale, is a kit that we fully expected still to look as good as back when we saw it for the first time.

Even with all the gimmicks that we see here, we fully expected to see the RG variant pulling it off without breaking a sweat.

Why?

Well, if the original RG v Gundam could pull it off, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see this pulling it off as well. Since that, we suspect that many of the same exact mechanisms used from the RG v Gundam will be the basis for this awesome RG kit.

But getting the same things isn’t the only thing that we liked about this kit. Oh no, no, no. We are also a fan of the changes and improvements made to this version, namely the new armor pieces and the badass new Fin Funnel backpack unit, and the new redesigned weapons systems.

Although, we would admit that there is something that we are a bit concerned with when we saw this awesome RG kit, and that is the color separation on the RG Hi-v Gundam’s shield unit. Because honestly, we are a bit concerned that this kit wouldn’t come out of the box with a shield that looks like that. We here suspect that they might come with large pieces of sticker ‘paint’ decals for the RG Hi-v Gundam’s Shield unit, and that is something that we are a bit concerned with here. Because honestly, their sticker decals won’t look as good as what we see with the CG rendition here.

But alas, we are still quite excited for this RG kits release, and hopefully, Bandai would include in for this kit only the badass waterslide decals just for the RG Hi-v Gundam’s shield unit.

With that concludes our 290th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Honestly, we think it’s nice that we started the latest retail coverage by talking about the same two Gunpla kits that we started with back when we were having that long discussion on the Gunpla EXPO reveals.

Regardless, we will be back again to talk about the rest of the retail kits that we are excited about, and it does seem like there are still a lot of pretty fascinating releases that we wanted to talk about that are coming in these coming months.

Anyways, we will be back again next coming Saturday (hopefully) with more Gunpla/ Gundam merch-related posts for this blog, so yes, please do look forward to that!
