Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.321

Supremely Premium Bandai

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 321st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be doing something a bit different. Because instead of looking at the regular sites on new Gunpla release announcements, we would be looking at a place where this would be their first time listing a Gunpla kit on their online page.

Where is this exactly, you may wonder? Well, today, we will be going into the Hypebeast’s den, supremenewyork.com.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

Supreme/MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.3.0 (MG)

Release Date: Fall/Winter 2021
Estimated price: TBA
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

When we all saw this announcement, we admit that it took us quite a bit to digest what we see here. Because honestly, this might be the most insanely rare and possibly going to be one of the most expensive MG Gundam Ver.3.0 variants to date. Not to mention, as we look at all the other Supreme merch that is out there? This Supreme MG Gundam Ver.3.0 will most likely be one of the most troublesome kits to get as well.

Although, we do admit it is fascinating to see Bandai collaborating with Supreme. Even though we know that this isn’t the first time that they collaborated with a premium clothing brand, but quite frankly? We don’t understand why they decided to collaborate with Supreme out of all the others.

Hopefully, this collaboration wouldn’t lead to Bandai’s P-Bandai division following Supreme’s business model. Man, what P-Bandai is doing now is bad enough. We really do not need them to learn from Supreme to make it worse.

Anyways, let’s talk about what we think of this kit. Even though this is just a recolored MG Gundam Ver.3.0, we are surprised to see that they managed to give it a new part, a new shield unit.

How do we know this?

Well, that is after we took a closer at its ‘Supreme’ shield. Because previously, we thought that the whole shield unit gets a fancy supreme decal. But after we take a much closer look at it, we realize that huge supreme decals on the MG Gundam Ver.3.0 are not a waterslide or a sticker decal. It is instead a separate part altogether. We find that to be quite impressive.

But that isn’t all.

Because the other thing that we as well find to be quite fascinating is that they decided to use recycled materials for the MG Gundam Ver.3.0’s inner frame. That practically makes the Supreme MG Gundam Ver.3.0 the second MG Ecopla to be released besides the LUNA SEA MG Char’s Zaku II Ver.2.0.

Although admittedly, the inner frame of this kit does look a bit different from what we are expecting from an MG kit made from recycled materials to look like here.

Although we are not as interested in getting another MG Gundam Ver.3.0 kit, however, right after reading all the information about this kit, we are starting to be quite interested in the idea of securing one of these for ourselves.

So, yeah, even though it might be ironic for you guys to hear this, funnily enough, we are interested in getting this one. That is if we can find it listed at a reasonable price.

With that concludes our 321st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Even though it is fascinating to see Bandai collaborating with Supreme, we admit that we are starting to feel a bit uneasy here. Maybe that is because we keep thinking about the possibility of Bandai taking on the Supreme business model approach for their future releases.

We do hope that isn’t the case. We really hope that is just a part of Bandai’s plan to introduce Gunpla to everyone, hypebeasts included.

Hopefully, that is all that they’re planning to do.

Anyways, we will be back again this coming Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!

Oh, one more thing before we go, it would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you find yourselves enjoying our gunpla/plamo related posts.
