Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.322

Another Premium Gundam!

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 322nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement. Interestingly enough, Supreme isn’t the only one getting the premium Gundam treatment.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Revive Ver. [2020 PR Ambassador of the Japan Pavilion, EXPO 2020 Dubai] (HGUC)

Release Date: October 2021
Estimated price: JPY 2,420 (MYR RM 93.39* / USD $ 22.04* / EUR € 18.83*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We admit that this has been quite a fascinating week so far for us. Because besides the Supreme MG Gundam Ver.3.0, it seems like even P-Bandai decided to release their own ‘new’ version of the same OG Gundam design. But instead of releasing another MG Gundam Ver.3.0 variant, they went with the HG Gundam Revive. Ver design for their P-Bandai release.

But the thing is, just like the Supreme MG Gundam Ver.3.0, after spending time staring at its promotional materials, we admit that we do like what we see here.

But unlike the Supreme MG Gundam Ver.3.0, the possibility of us getting this is higher. Since we can roughly expect (with the P-Bandai tax included) how much it would cost here when it hits our shores.

So you might be wondering why we like this kit so much?

Well, for one, this kit is designed by Kunio Okawara. Well, to be more precise, when we said design, what we really mean is that he ‘improved’ upon the existing look to make it look even better.

Which we all think is insane when you consider that this is the same 2015 HG Gundam Revive.Ver kit. The thing that made this all impressive to us all here is because all he really did right here is play around with the colors. In which we admit, is honestly quite mind-blowing.

From the way Mr.Kunio Okawara placed the Red and white color scheme here, to the design of the decals, and from the way he brilliantly added a subtle white line into the red colored parts, all of these is what we think is the reason why the changes made on this look so good.

But.

We feel that some of the things we see here that we are impressed by here might come in sticker form in its final release. How do we know this? Well, that is because they already confirmed it in the promotional materials. But seeing that this is a P-Bandai release, we somewhat hoped they’ll go with waterslides instead of stickers decal. Because we really think waterslides would definitely look better on this kit.

But that is not the only thing that we are bothered by here. Because we as well do not understand why P-Bandai didn’t want to use the HG Gundam Beyond Global’s frame to represent Japan for this upcoming Dubai EXPO event. Because honestly, we do feel that despite our reservations on its look, we would admit that the level of engineering that went to that kit would better represent Japan and Gunpla as a hobby on the world stage.

But all in all, despite our reservations, we still think that it is a good-looking kit overall, and we are still quite interested in the thought of getting this one. Hopefully, the issues we mention here will not get in the way of our enjoyment of building this kit, and we really hope that the end product will look as good or better than its promotional materials.

With that concludes our 322nd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. What a week for the Gundam! It’s nice to see two Premium kit redesigns that look like something that we might consider getting.

Although we doubt that we would be able to secure the Supreme MG Gundam Ver.3.0, it’s nice to know at the very least, we can get our hands on this. Without having to sell some part of our organs, we hope.

Anyways, we will be back again this coming Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!

Oh, one more thing before we go, it would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you find yourselves enjoying our gunpla/plamo related posts. We would appreciate it if you guys would take the time to show your support by leaving an upvote on our R/Gunpla posts and by leaving a like on our Facebook and Instagram posts or pages!

We are as well open to any good and bad feedback, so feel free to write away.

Hopefully, by sharing our love and passion for building and writing about gunplas or other plamos here, we hope that it’ll help to inspire all of here to pick up on the hobby. Or better yet, reignite your love and passion for the hobby.

Anyways, we shall see all of you again soon, and we as well hope that you all here have a splendid day and week ahead! Oh as well, do have an excellent time building your awesome gunplas there and until next time.

Ciao!
