Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.333

Deformed but still pack a punch

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 333rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be looking at all the other latest Gunpla release announcements. But this time, we’ll talk about the new SD upcoming releases. Yes, we are aware that there are alot of new SD kits release announcements listed here, but instead of talking about them all in one shot, we’ll focus on some that we are all really in love with here.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

SDW HEROES Saizou Gundam Delta Kai (SDWHEROES)

Release Date: March 2022
Estimated price: JPY 660 (MYR RM 24.57* / USD $ 5.88* / EUR € 5.09*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Even though we are not a fan of the SDW HEROES anime that is currently streaming on the Gundaminfo Youtube channel, but the thing that we can agree on is that the MS redesigns for the show looked quite badass.

So when we heard that there is a new batch of new SDW Heroes kits coming, admittedly, we were excited to see what it is in store for us all.

And goddamn, Bandai delivers AGAIN with a lot of badass SDW HEROES kits.

The first one that caught our eyes is this, the SDW HEROES Saizou Gundam Delta Kai.

Based on the Gundam Delta Kai MS design, the SDW Seizou Gundam Delta Kai is a pretty good redesign effort made by Bandai here. There is alot to love here, starting from its overall ninja theme looks, its ’emo’ color scheme, and all of its ninja-inspired weapons designs.

We are seriously surprised by the level of creativity put into the redesign!

Not to mention, we are impressed to see that you can move the arm unit by quite a bit here. Yes, it might not have the articulation level seen as the other standard scaled kits, but it is still quite impressive nevertheless.

Honestly, since we haven’t unboxed or built any of ours yet, we can’t confirm if this is a feature standard on all the SDW kits. But if it is, then color us impressed.

Regardless, this is one that we are quite looking forward to getting and build as soon as it hits our shores next year.

Release Date: February 2022
Estimated price: JPY 770 (MYR RM 28.66* / USD $ 6.86* / EUR € 5.93*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

The SDW Robin Hood Gundam AGE-2 is another kit that impressed us all here when we first laid our eyes on it. Why?

Well, the reason for that is because they managed to combine the familiar aesthetics of the AGE-2 and the new bits quite well here. So well, in fact, that we can see the heroic legend design aesthetics that they based this SDW Robin Hood AGE-2 on.

We all like the iconic Robin Hood hat design on the SDW Robin Hood Gundam AGE-2’s head unit. We also like that they managed to keep some of the familiar AGE-2 design aesthetics, like the shoulder wing blades on the SDW Robin Hood AGE-2 and the iconic chest unit. But instead of reusing the iconic wing blades, they instead opted for clear-green beam shoulder blades.

However, the one gimmick of the SDW Robin Hood Gundam AGE-02 that really impressed us all here is that you can combine some part of the headpiece (or hat piece) and the beam shoulder blades and turn it into a badass bow.

It’s not every day that you see someone turns their hat into a weapon. So, yeah, we are impressed.

But the thing that really sells us the idea of preordering this SDW kit is the badass color green, white and blue color scheme combo. Honestly, if this is the color that we see on the parts on the actual kit, unpainted, that would blow our minds up. Because honestly, this is some of the most badass color combinations on a retail SD kit we’ve seen to date.

And yes, this is definitely going on top of our SD ‘to get list’ of 2022.

SDW HEROES Knight Strike Gundam (SDW HEROES)

Release Date: February 2022
Estimated price: JPY 770 (MYR RM 28.66* / USD $ 6.86* / EUR € 5.93*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Out of all the SDW kits that we’ve seen, this is the only SDW kit that we aren’t sure what MS they based it on. Yes, we know that from its name it is supposed to be an obvious sign to us as to what MS they based this SDW kit on. But looking at it, the only thing that closely resembles the Strike Gundam that we can see is only seen on some bits of the SDW Night Strike Gundam’s head unit.

But even with that said, it is not a bad thing. Since we do like the original Gundam Knight looks that they’re going here.

From what we can see here, it seems to us that almost all of this kit is the SDW Knight Strike Gundam designer’s original take of how they wanted the Knight Strike Gundam to look. We honestly feel that the elegant and badass style that they’re going here with this SDW Knight Strike Gundam suits it quite well here. What’s more, at the same time, we’re as well a fan of how the designers somehow managed to make this supposed to be a medieval knight look modern.

Yes, it is a strange thing to say, but that is really what we all here think about when we all saw this kit.

But the thing that we all here loved most about this SDW Knight Strike Gundam is its sword design. We can see they’re so proud of the sword design that they put it front and center in the SDW Knight Strike Gundam’s promotional materials.

But admittedly, they do have a strong point here by boldly putting the sword up there. Because we all here love it and sincerely feel that it is one of the best features of this kit. Although, admittedly, as we spend more time looking at it, we can’t help to feel that it would be a sticker nightmare. But hopefully, we’re wrong, and it would look as to how it is here.

But even with that said, we are still interested in getting this one.

With that concludes our 333rd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Pretty badass retail SDW kit lineup Bandai has lined up for us all. Looking at all of them does make us look forward to next year!
