Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.339

When Gunplas turn into a beautiful canvas

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 339th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’re going to be looking at some Limited Edition gunplas that Bandai plans to release in support of the upcoming Jan 2022 Gundam the Origins Exhibition event. Interestingly these two event-exclusive HG Origins kits will be getting some very fascinating treatment.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 RX-78-02 Gundam (Yoshikazu Yasuhiko/ Mobile Suit Gundam the Origins Exhibition Edition) (HG Origins)

Release Date: 22nd Jan 2022
Estimated price: JPY 5,000 [including Tickets for the exibition] (MYR RM 182.24* / USD $ 43.90* / EUR € 37.87*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Wow.

That is the first word that came out from our mouths when we saw Bandai’s reveal of this HG Origins kit. But the thing is, from what we can see here, this kit looks more and less the same as the retail version.

But what sets this one apart from its regular release is that it comes with a badass boxart, and you as well get the badass boxart as a shield decal for this event exclusive HG Origins Gundam.

But what makes the boxart so impressive to us is because the illustration is from the great Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, The same one that worked as one of the chief animators and character designers for the original run of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. Mr.Yasuhiko Yoshikazu also worked as the Chief Director for Gundam the Origins anime series and the mangaka for the manga version.

However, it’s his work on the Gundam the Origins series, we assume on both the anime and the manga that is the focus (and reason) here for this exhibition. That is why it makes complete sense to us that Bandai is supporting this upcoming event with some proven and badass-looking Gunplas to boot.

Did we say Gunplas? Oh yes, we did.

Because honestly, the HG Origins Gundam isn’t the only one that’s getting this badass boxart decal treatment here.

HG 1/144 MS-06S Zaku II [Red Comet Ver.] (Yoshikazu Yasuhiko/ Mobile Suit Gundam the Origins Exhibition Edition)(HG Origins)

Release Date: 22nd Jan 2022
Estimated price: JPY 5,000 [including Tickets for the exibition] (MYR RM 182.24* / USD $ 43.90* / EUR € 37.87*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Yep, the Chars version of the Zaku II as well be getting that Yoshikazu Yasuhiko badass boxart and Boxart decals treatment. Honestly, this actually comes as no surprise to us all that this also gets the same treatment as the HG Origins Gundam.

And just like the HG Origins Gundam, we find ourselves in love with its badass Boxart and by how its Boxart decal looks on the HG Origins Chars Zaku II.

We are also quite impressed that the Exhibition version boxart quality for the HG Origins Chars Zaku looked as impressive as the Exhibition version of the HG Origins Gundam. That is one feat that we are impressed by,

But then again, the two boxart is illustrated by the same person.

These two definitely are the kit to get if you’re a fan of both Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s work and the two HG Origins kits.

However, you might be wondering, is there a way to get both of them in one go?

Well, yes, actually, the organizer as well have another tier of the tickers that does include both, which would set you back:

Estimated price: JPY 12,000 [including Tickets for the exibition] (MYR RM 437.38* / USD $ 105.35* / EUR € 90.89*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

There.

Yes, admittedly, it is insanely expensive, and from the looks of it, it doesn’t make sense that this ticket is even more expensive than buying two individual tickets that come with the kit.

But from the promotional materials that we go through, it seems like it may be a tad bit tricky for one person to do that since the organizers will need to get your details for the exhibition. So we reckon the individual ticket that comes with the HG Origins kit maybe locked for one per person.

I know that one is persistent enough, they’ll find a way through it, but admittedly, it would be tough to secure one if unless you can rope someone to help you up or if you can close two-person on the day itself.

Even if you’re planning to get the more expensive tier because you do not want to deal with the hassle of finding another person to help up, that doesn’t mean you could buy the tickets directly.

Why?

Well, that is because the only way for you to buy it is only through lottery sales.

Oh, before we forget, if you as well happen to live in Japan. Or if Japan opens their border to your country as well. Or if the Pandemic cases keep being low in japan.

Goddamn, seeing how hard for one to get this now, we wouldn’t be surprised if both of them sold at insane prices when it hits our shores.

But again, it’ll be alot easier to do that than to get ourselves into the event or into Japan itself.

So that means the only way to get this ticket is through sheer luck or if you’re living comfortably in Japan.

But just like we said earlier, if unless you’re a fan of Mr.Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s work and the two HG Origins kits, then going through the pain will be worth it for you.

With that concludes our 339th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Frankly, it has been quite a bit since we saw an exhibition exclusive kits that look as badass as these two, and honestly, we are a fan of how badass both of them look.

It’s just sad when we consider that getting either of them will be a challenge nowadays. Somehow it made us miss how easy we had it back then.

Anyways, we will be back again next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. Why so long for a new blog post, you might ask? Well, that is because we will be taking a short break this coming Saturday. That is because Kimi needed to take the whole day off to handle some things on that day. So we have to postpone our usual discussions and posts. But we will be back again next week! So, please do look forward to that!

Oh, one more thing before we go, it would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you find yourselves enjoying our gunpla/plamo related posts. We would appreciate it if you guys would take the time to show your support by leaving an upvote on our R/Gunpla posts and by leaving a like on our Facebook and Instagram posts or pages!

We are as well open to any good and bad feedback, so feel free to write away.

Hopefully, by sharing our love and passion for building and writing about gunplas or other plamos here, we hope that it’ll help to inspire all of here to pick up on the hobby. Or better yet, reignite your love and passion for the hobby.

Anyways, we shall see all of you again soon, and we as well hope that you all here have a splendid day and week ahead! Oh as well, do have an excellent time building your awesome gunplas there and until next time.

Ciao!
