It’s the social distance version of the Calamity Gundam
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 345th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be looking at P-Bandai’s newest Gunpla release announcement. Funnily enough, after we talked about the last retail Full Mechanics reveal, it seems like P-Bandai as well have one of their own P-Bandai Full Mechanics kit planned for release.
And no, it’s not the Full Mechanics Sword Calamity, sadly.
So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?
Full Mechanics 1/100 GAT-X130 Aile Calamity Gundam (Full Mechanics)

Release Date: April 2022
Estimated price: JPY 5,500 (MYR RM 209.63* / USD $ 47.67* / EUR € 42.69*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Honestly? It’s hard for us to find ourselves not impressed by this, especially considering that this version of the Calamity has alot of weapons attached to it even when you compare it to the original variant.
Not to mention, we all feel that this is probably the more badass version of the Calamity Gundam.
Yes, even though it retains many of the same characteristics and gimmicks as what the original Full Mechanics Calamity Gundam has, but honestly? It’s not a bad thing since many of its hand-me-down bits do look and work quite awesomely already.

And when you add in the new bits and the badass color scheme, the already badass looking Full Mechanics Calamity Gundam looks even more badass here.
So you might be wondering, what are the new bits that we are talking about here? Well, that would be the new turret shoulder armor, backpack unit, handheld weapon, and the new color scheme. Yes, admittedly, that is quite a significant upgrade over the original indeed.
Although, we do admit that if we were to compare the looks of this over the original Calamity Gundam, we find ourselves gravitating towards this design.
Why?
Well, maybe because design-wise, it looks more practical. It looks like an MS that looks suited for MS to MS combat. Unlike the standard Calamity Gundam, an MS designed to be a long-range unit that is unfortunately used as a close-range unit by its pilot in many of the battles in the original SEED anime. We feel that the original Calamity Pilot would be at home with this version instead of what he ends up with here.

Not to mention, it looks badass as well.
But enough of us fanboy-ing over the design, let us talk more of what we think of this Full Mechanics kit.
Honestly, we like the insane details on both the old and new bits that we could see on this kit. Plus, we as well like the fact that many of the gimmicks are practical as well. We all here thought there’s no way that some of the Full Mechanics Alie Calamity Gundam sections would have some form of articulation. But from what we can see from the promotional materials, they are not just for show only.
So, yeah, good job there, P-Bandai.
Honestly, we are starting to reconsider giving the Full Mechanics 1/100 Calamity Gundam a chance before we commit to getting this P-Bandai version. If we were doubtful of this lineup’s potential, you could consider us convinced now after seeing how badass this kit looked.

Heck, if it is as good to build as it is to look at, the Full Mechanics lineup may look to have a bright future ahead.
With that concludes our 346th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. What a surprise release announcement from the P-Bandai side! Although we’re expecting P-Bandai to release a P-Bandai exclusive calamity Gundam, we, however, didn’t expect them to make this. We are all convinced that we would get the Sword Calamity instead.
Honestly, we’re starting to think that we should be more diligent in following the Gundam SEED Eclipse manga. So we’d know what badass SEED MS designs to expect coming from the manga.
But we do hope to see the Sword Calamity makes its way to us sometime soon.
Anyways, we will be back again this coming Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!
