Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.359

A pair of P-Bandai bullet dodged?

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 359th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be finally talking about that one latest P-Bandai Gunpla release announcement. The one that most of us here were unfortunate enough to miss.

Although, we are starting to feel it may not be that bad.

So, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 AGE-1R AGE Razor & AGE-2R Artimes (HGAGE)

Release Date: March 2022
Estimated price: JPY 3,960 (MYR RM 60.31* / USD $ 14.39* / EUR € 12.76*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Honestly?

We are really disappointed by this release announcement, for two reasons.

One of the reasons is that even knowing people’s interest in this set, P-Bandai decided to open the preorders in limited numbers. Secondly, because of that limited preorders, scalpers were quick to deny fans of the series, and people interested in getting this set a chance in getting one for themselves.

Yes, we were freakking pissed off when we saw how quickly the preorder list closed over here in Shoppee.

But.

After taking a closer look at this and at the actual display, we are starting to think maybe it’s not that bad that we missed it because it looks like we just dodged a bullet here.

Why do we say this? Well, before we get to that, we wanted to start this bit by saying that we do (mostly) like what we see here in this P-Bandai HGAGE set.

Yes, admittedly, P-Bandai did ‘mostly’ a great job in the overall design, and anyone that lays their eyes on it will like what they see here even if they are not a fan of the AGE series.

But then we realized that almost all the bits that we find to be impressive P-Bandai covered them up with paint. Because when we saw the actual release HGAGE kits, they showcased at the Tokyo showroom all the exciting bits? Most of them are stickers bound, and for the rest, you need to spend time painting them.

We were shocked to see the HUGE difference between what we see on the promotional materials and the actual thing. It almost looks like a fucking joke.

Yes, we know that this kit is originally a Denki Hobby collaboration release between them and P-Bandai, and we are aware this is just a repackaged re-release. But goddamnit, at the very least, make some changes to both of them, please? Because if this is how it would look out from the box? Honestly, that is unacceptable. Honestly? It’s not that hard for them to make clear beam effect parts that they could use here.

They screwed up this release so badly that they made them brittle 3rd party kits look like a better deal than this.

So, yeah, despite how we all felt at first about scalpers getting to this one first. Maybe it’s not such a bad thing because now they all ended up having a stinker to sell off.

With that concludes our 358th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. What a way to end our week. It has been a while since we saw a release that manages to rile us up.

Hopefully, this is the only lazy release we see coming from P-Bandai this year.

Anyways, we will be back again this coming Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!

Oh, one more thing before we go, it would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you find yourselves enjoying our gunpla/plamo related posts. We would appreciate it if you guys would take the time to show your support by leaving an upvote on our R/Gunpla posts and by leaving a like on our Facebook and Instagram posts or pages!

We are also open to any good and bad feedback, so feel free to write away.

Hopefully, by sharing our love and passion for building and writing about gunplas or other plamos here, we hope that it’ll help to inspire all of here to pick up on the hobby. Or better yet, reignite your love and passion for the hobby.

Anyways, we shall see all of you again soon, and we as well hope that you all here have a splendid day and week ahead! Oh as well, do have an excellent time building your awesome gunplas there and until next time.

Ciao!
