In today’s 362nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will now look at The Gundam Base Limited’s newest Gunpla release announcement. This time they are giving one of the P-Bandai exclusive kits that Gundam Base Limited’s treatment! 

So, without further ado. Let us now get into it, shall we? 

MG 1/100 Gundam Base Limited MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame w/ Flight Unit [Plated Frame/Clear Color] (MG)

Release Date:25th February 2022

Estimated price: JPY 14,850 (MYR RM 540.61* / USD $ 129.15* / EUR € 114.06*)

SEED Astray and Astray colored frame fans, REJOICE! 

Because if for some reason you missed the chance to get the P-Bandai exclusive MG Red Frame with the Flight Unit on the last release window, well, now it looks like The Gundam Base Limited chaps are giving you guys another opportunity to own the kit. That is as long as you do not mind getting a kit with a plated inner frame with clear-colored armor, and you as well need to have damn good luck. 

Why?

Well, because The Gundam Base Limited chaps decided to sell this kit via lottery. That means is that you can only buy this if your lottery number so happens to get chosen. To make things even worse, you can only do that if you’re living in Japan because you can only buy the lottery tickets at The Gundam Base Tokyo/ Fukuoka and The Gundam Base Satellite Nagoya/Kyoto. 

In other words, for us all that is staying outside of Japan, we can only hope to get this from 3rd Party resellers, which also means, it will be insanely expensive. Because we know they won’t sell it to us at the Retail selling price for sure. Although to be fair, we wonder if the resellers would want to rush in to get this because the asking price for this kit is quite steep.

But we are sure that the asking price or its recolored plated nature will not stop the Astray faithful from getting this kit. 

Why we’re so sure of this, you may ask? 

Well, that is because even we all here think that The Gundam Base Limited’s MG Red Frame with the Flight Unit plated inner frame and clear-colored armor pieces looked good. The funny thing is, as you guys already know, we aren’t fans of the Astray Red Frame, which says a lot. 

But admittedly, since this is a re-release and recolored kit on an old overused mold, we’re expecting this kit to be a familiar, and at the same time, a bit heart-wrenching one to build. Because we know the plated bits will leave ugly nub marks when you work on them. 

So if you’re planning on getting them, do remember to get the Red metallic paints as well. 

Oh, since this kit is from P-Bandai, we expect this kit will come with waterslides for you to use on the clear-colored and plated armor bits. 

But with the insane asking price, the lottery purchase, and the high skill level required to work on this kit, we think that most will think twice about getting this. So, that is why we all here believe that only the Hardcore fans of the Astray will go out of their way to get this kit. 

Oh, and yes, scalpers too. 

But for the rest of us? Well, we might give this one a pass. We figured that we try our luck waiting for P-Bandai to relist it on shopee. 

With that concludes our 362nd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Like clockwork, we see Bandai announce another Astray variant. Honestly, at the rate that we are going, we are not surprised if we’d see they release another new Unicorn variant or the OG Gundam again sometime this year.

We’d be more surprised if we do not see any released in some form
