Not the kind of Phantom of the Opera that you’re thinking about
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 366th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be looking at another P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement. Again we see P-Bandai make another unexpected Gunpla announcement from a series that never expected to see both the retail side and the P-Bandai side cover.
An MS from the Manga Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Ghost.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 EMS-TC02 Phantom Gundam (HGUC)

Release Date: June 2022
Estimated price: JPY 2,750 (MYR RM 99.88* / USD $ 23.86* / EUR € 21.79*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

The HGUC Phantom Gundam is probably one of those HGUC releases we all were really excited about here. Because besides the upcoming Advance of Z’s HGUC TR-1 Owsla w/ Big Arms variant, the Phantom is the other MS design that we are looking forward to seeing translated into Gunpla the most.
However, unfortunately enough, it also seems like the Scalpers are getting good at scalping P-Bandai kits. Because just after one minute after P-Bandai opened the preorder window for the HGUC Phantom Gundam, the preorder window immediately closed. It is absolutely insane.
Hopefully, we’d see P-Bandai coming to their senses and reconsider increasing the preorder release quota so it would at the very least gives some of us a chance to place our preorder on it. By now, they should know there is a demand for new HGUC kits from the Crossbone Gundam Manga series.

But then again, it is up to them to implement things.
With that out of the way, let us now talk about what we think of this badass HGUC kit.
Honestly? We all here think that P-Bandai really nailed the look of the Phantom here.
From the HGUC Phantom Gundam’s looks, the color scheme, and the gimmicks, every part of it looked faithful to its manga counterpart. They even included the iconic to the Phantom Gundam’s badass flame effect parts here in this release.
Although, this as well explains to us why this kit is more expensive when we compared this (price-wise) to other HGUC Crossbone variants.

But if we were to be real here, the “higher than the regular asking price” isn’t a bad thing when you do get a lot of badass bits, and not to mention you do get a good-looking kit too here.
So it’s a win-win thing, eh?
Although there is one thing that we are a bit disappointed about this upcoming HGUC release, the bit where it requires a separate part to enable it to transform into the Mobile Armor mode. We understand why they decided on doing so here because if they do, it may make the whole kit become an unstable mess. But at the same time, it’s a bit disappointing to see them not making an effort to at least try.
But regardless, it wasn’t enough to deter us from thinking about getting this badass HGUC kit.

Well, for the time being, that is the most we can hope to do because currently, it’s impossible to place a preorder for this kit now. Hopefully, that’ll change soon enough.
With that concludes our 366th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. See, we know that P-Bandai had something up their sleeves still. But honestly, all of these scalpers are starting to get on our nerves.
But then again, what is new, eh?
Anyways, we will be back again next week (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!
